  1. The only thing I've seen time and time again is you not answering simple questions. I am a high school football fan that is honestly wondering if GP's current qb and the cunningham kid that graduated last year went to GPE in grade school. It doesn't matter but your non-answer is answer enough.

OK, since the senate hearings are not over and I have to provide you with confidential information, I will! Mr. Benji Cunningham lives within walking distance to Goodpasture. The current Quarterback lives in the Ezel Harding (I hope I spelled that right) school area. Only 4 existing players to my knowledge live more than 10 miles from the school. Is it ok if I leave the witness stand now? I do understand officer that I am still under oath and I can still be called back to the stand!

  2. Thanks GP fans for dodging honest questions. You guys are awesome.

That question has been answered time and time again. You just dont like the answer, so you keep asking it! Good luck to both teams tonite, and as I stated earlier, I look forward to hearing the comments of the people who posted on this site this week once the game is over! To the York fans, there is parking not only in the front parking lot of the main high school entrance, there is also parking behind the field. The parking behind the field usually fills up by 6:15 to 6:30. Have a safe trip!

  3. I don't know why all you guys have your little panties in a wad over who came from where and the it's not fair blah blah blah.

Alcoa will show everyone who their daddy is on Dec. 4

THANK YOU! Lets try and get back on topic, which was suppose to be about a high school playoff game Friday! It's ok to have civic pride or school pride. But there is also a way you can do that and represent yourself and your community in a positive way! That is just how I feel. I hope everyone who has been posting so aggresively this week does not forget to post after the game! Go Cougars! I can not wait to see how the offensive and defensive lines of each team match up against each other? Also, does York have any team speed?

  4. Sorry I did not respond earlier, I was working. It really bothers me that so many people make the type of statements that have been made on this thread! This is suppose to be about football. This is not suppose to be about making slanderous statements to get a "rise" out of someone! I hope the people who are posting on York's behalf are not involved with the York program! Does it have to turn into a "private vs public" or asking people where they are from? What does that matter? What does that have to do with Friday nights game? I just dont understand!

Unfortunately....it will always be a public/private debate. I have no horse in this race (yet) other than hoping York does well in representing the district. What does it matter?? The thing is most small country schools have to play the hand they are dealt. Ever been to Jamestown?? Very few move in there. 99% of their player were born there, and grew up together. I'm not so sure GP can say the same, I don't know, maybe they can....but there seems to be a large number that go to school there from other areas. If they didn't go to a private school, where would they be zoned and playing ball?? APPEARS to give an unfair advantage....true or not.

Thank you. I do understand your point. I do understand that there are certain people that will never let the "private vs public" thing go. I do understand community pride, but what I do not understand is the way the posters take verbal jabs on a personnal level. Is that necessary? What does that accomplish? Most of the Goodpasture boys grew up going to Goodpasture elementary. Only a few come from a distance. So what does that mean? Is it wrong for some families to send there kids to private school? TSSAA makes the rules. We have a qualifier. Is it perfect, no. The team in 3A that has the biggest advantage is Alcoa. They are public, and they have an open district. And I say good for them! What we are talking about is not football! People are upset about this or that, fine, I get it! But does that justify what I have been reading on this post? Think about it! What type of example are setting for the kids when you post this way? And believe me, all the boys read the posts about there respective school!

  5. To all the Goodpasture players that do read this thread, work hard, and continue to improve! We are all so proud of you, and we wish you the best of luck Friday! I know you boys can accomplish great things this year if you keep your priorities in check! Let your actions do your talking. To York, good luck and I hope you arrive and return safely Friday night!

  7. All goodpasture fans are guilty of something, mainly being trash. Bet they keep metro cops busy in the stands. I heard they need 5 or 6 officers at most home games to control the parents.

    Wow, you have no class!

gpcougar fan, crawl back into your dumpster.

York better get ready for the late hits and dirty play on the field, and the parents in the parking lot as well.

You continue to impress! Is this thread about young men playing playoff high school football, or has this turned become about you taking jabs at people that do not deserve it?

  8. I hear the talk around Jamestown is the Dragons are going to whip up on Goodpasture. They say Goodpasture got lucky beating a weak Grundy County team last friday, and York is going to show them how a good public school can play and win football.

We will see if eveyone in Jamestown is right! Here at Goodpasture, we will just play the game and see what happens. I hope that everyone makes the trip safely, and I hope all the players are healthy before and after the game!

  9. Good one Big Reid....somebody sounds GUILTY!!!

I love the way you blanket sterotype! Just keep making verbal jabs. I am sure everyone is proud of the way you represent yourself and your community. I feel sorry for the good hearted people who do live in your community, because you are giving them a bad name by your words! You should think before you post! But it is easy to make accusations behind a computer with no facts, just slander.

  10. Why so sensative GOODPASTURE? I just asked where the kids were from? If you're going to write big long posts about how proud you are of the players and Goodpastures' traditions, surely you can tell me where they're from...or can you not?

Wow, how you like to turn the conversation from talking about young men playing football! I am not ducking where they are from. I am proud of where our boys are from. I did not know that I had to justify to you were each kid is from! It seemed to me like you were trying to shift the conversation to something other than football. Are you?

  11. I know that people make predictions about there favorite team, but it is hard for me to understand how people can say our team has a better this, or our team has a better that, when you have never seen them play before! I have never seen York play. I watch a ton of football here in the mid-state. I love high school football. I never miss a Goodpasture game, and I also try and go see games on Thursday and Saturday's when games are scheduled. I know that Goodpasture has the talent and the coaching to go as far as they want! I also think that there are players on the current Goodpasture team that can be utilized better to create more explosive plays on offense. But fans, like me, will always think there is something else the team can do. Bottom line is this, I will take the coaching staff, players, and tradition of the Goodpasture program any day of the week! I have total confidence in Coach Martin that he will have his team ready to play. They were not ready to play last week. They made multiple mistakes in the first half, and they came back and played like we all expected them to play in the second half! After watching Goodpasture play for years, I rarely have seen Goodpasture have back to back poor outings. I know Coach Martin and the Coaching staff will use the first half of last weeks game to motivate his young team this week in practice. Grundy County gave a great effort. But once Goodpasture starting playing solid football in the second half, it was totally different. Obviously, the farther you go in the playoffs, the better the teams are suppose to be. Goodpasture does not duck anyone! Coach Martin schedules them to play the best teams available every year! He does this to get them ready for the playoffs, to toughen them up! They might not go 10-0 every year, but they will be ready to make a run in the playoffs. Look at Goodpasture's resume the last 10 years! Year after year, it is either a state ring, second place, or the semi-finals. You can not tell me that it's a mistake. I would like to say good luck to York. I hope it is a healthy game for both teams, and I hope it is dry conditions so neither team can use the weather as an excuse.

That's a lot to write.... and I'm sorry but, a ring? Not in the last 5 years... sorry. And as for the good playoff history that is true. Goodpasture is historically a great team, but, from what I hear and from first hand accounts, they are more than beatable. Like I've previously said, this will be a great game. Good luck to both. Just let everyone talk what they want, say what they want, and after the game, if your boys win, then you can have the last post.

Yes it was alot to write. And I said look at there resume the last 10 years, not 5 like you used to support your argument. And they do have a state ring within that timeframe. All I am saying is that Goodpasture has tradition. Goodpasture has a track record of advancing deep into the playoffs regularly. It funny how Goodpasture is "beatable" from people's sources. Last year Goodpasture was in a down year (very beatable), and they made it to the semifinals. This year, Goodpasture was suppose to be in a rebuilding year (not upto there standards), and they won their district and are 9-2. Every year in the playoffs I hear about how this year is different for the other schools. I hear that this is a special year for this team or that team. I will be there Friday night. I will withhold any opinion's of York until I see them play! I will not play the "I talked to someone who knows someone who's neighbor delivers mail to someone they played this year --- card". Good luck to both teams, and Friday night can not come fast enough!

  13. Wait just a minute. I would not get too happy with predicting a York win this week. Goodpasture will not come out flat this week and York will face another great running back that the Cougars have who lead the district in running. This one goes easily to the Cougars by at least 3 touchdowns at home. Good luck and have a safe drive down to the Cougars home field.

Which district? the cougars played in district 4a, now the playoffs start good ole tsssaa moves the cougars down a notch. Why don't we just give the cougars a couple of byes or move them down to 1a or just give a trophy. good grief they get all the players and all the breaks. they should have been bumped to 5a for the playoffs. this private school has got connections. come on TSSAA.

Enough of the private vs public! Get over it! The rules are the rules! Alcoa (public school) is playing in 3A and they have an open district, and you know what I say to that, good for them! If you want to be the best, you have got to beat the best! Goodpasture can do anything they want if they play consistant, play smart, and play hard from the opening kickoff to the final buzzer! But the great thing about high school football is anyone can beat anybody on one given night, so you better be ready to play!

  14. The Goodpasture fan who said that the Cougars have a good fullback that did not play last night is right. #32 is a very good runner. However, if you watched the game last night, there was another Cougar fullback who is also very good. He was given the opportunity to play a whole game last night and he came through with nearly 200 yards rushing. The Cougars are very fortunate to have 2 very good fullbacks.

Yes we do. They are different types of fullbacks. #32 is bigger and faster. #29 is more quick and aggresive. We are blessed to have two fine fullbacks. But what makes both of them go is our offensive line! #32 did not play because he has a sprained ankle he suffered in the season finale. He should be good to go for the York game.

  15. Thanks for the reply. What kind of offense do they run?

Goodpasture runs the wing-t, shotgun, and single back/twins formation. They have a very good running game along with a very good fullback that did not play in the GC game! There line is hudge (average almost 300lbs across the board)! They can pass. They have two good receivers and one good tight end. There quarterback can scramble! Goodpasture's worst enemy has been themselves! Whenever they play consistant they look as good as anyone in the state. They are a run first offense, but they will pass! About a 70/30 run pass ratio.

  16. All roads lead to Alcoa. So the question is, who wants to loose to Alcoa the baddest? I know Goodpastures answer.

You think you know, but you really dont know! Keep talking! I think Goodpasture and all the other teams in the playoffs will keep playing and see what happens! Now, back to York at Goodpasture! That is what this thread is about, isn't it?

  17. Grundy absolutely played their guts out last night. Had Goodpasture not got that touchdown right before halftime there's no telling how this thing could have turned out. Unreal. Many of us Grundy folks were just looking at each other and saying "Wow!" multiple times last night. I thought Grundy's stand to hold Goodpasture out of the endzone in the last minute of the game when they were going for a totally unnecessary TD said so much about the fight in the kids. All anyone had to do was look at senior Dillon Graham at the end. He looked like he could barely walk when it was over. He and all the rest of the Jackets left EVERYTHING on that field last night. Again........WOW! :D:o:D

    DL

Wow. Did not expect that. Goodpasture was not sharp in the first half. They missed tackles, they fumbled on offense and special teams, and they missed wide open wide receivers. The entire team was off in the first half. I could not believe it. There were several plays that made me scratch my head. You can talk about what if this, and what if that, but in the second half, that is what I was expected from Goodpasture. They were late coming out of the second half, and everyone knows why. In the second half, they just imposed there will. It was nice to see many of the Goodpasture's players very mad coming out at halftime. I am hoping they learn from this. Good job Grundy County. You guys fought to the end. The touchdown attempt with three minutes left was between the tackles, so dont say they were rubbing it in. They got the ball back on the 2 yard line with one minute to go and took a knee!
