  1. Yes, we did go through the season doing everything the right way, but people on these boards sit here and down us. That shows the class of people on these boards. Actually we used the fact that everyone picked us 4th or 5th in the district as motivation all season.

But anyways, I didn't mean he was terrible. I'm just saying 33% save percentage... But yes the fact we only created a few oppotunities shows how we played.

  2. I happened to see the Riverdale/Cleveland game. Riverdale was not good at all. I honestly don't know much about other teams in the state, but if Columbia played this team in OT then either Riverdale packed it in, or Columbia isn't that great either. I may be wrong and funny things happen but I really can see cleveland winning. They really have one of, if not the best keeper in the state. You guys can argue all you want but he is good. To be honest, I hate cleveland. I have played with all of their players on club ball since I was ten and am really good friends with them (I just hate the school and program). Approx. Half of their varsity roster is zoned for another school in the county but they don't care. haha. I wish them the best but it's kinda crazy. I know people do this all the time, but it is just kinda gay to know it could be your team in the state tourny possibly. Oh well.

Clevelands keeper was terrible, he saved maybe 2 shots against us... one hitting the post. It just wasn't a good game for us and Cleveland won.

  3. I believe Columbia was the underdog in their District tourni.

The way i see it, there defence is amazing and keeping the goals off,

There offence needs to make a step up,

Despite their offence not being as productive as others, heart is what this team seems to be thriving on,

Riverdale played hard, but Columbia was well more in shape, and prepared for the second half.

Columbia has a game tomarrow at 7:00pm. I can see the score being 2-1. Columbia

Arman has the hardest conditioning period of any team I've seen. We weren't tired, we just didn't get the ball out of our half in the second half and they punished us with goals.

  4. Just because Eli is tall and Payne is small, they both went up for a 50/50 header, and Eli wins almost every ball that comes his way. Definitly not a foul, and I know it went both ways, but it seemed Columbia got a few more call than us.

And again, I'm not blaming our loss and solely the refs, our effort and finishing was off and we were punished.

  5. Now I'm definitly not blaming the loss on the refs, but they did not control the game. columbia had 2 dirty plays early, a cleats up tackle by #21 and the last man foul on Pleitez could both have easily been red cards. From there, the center kept the whistle in his pocket when it should've been in his mouth, and vice versa.

But overall, Riverdale couldn't get the ball out of their half in the 2nd half and most of the OT. And that's why Columbia created the opportunities they did.

  6. I'm hoping this weather holds off, it looks like it could get hairy here quick.

I just hope RHS comes out and plays well in the first half, as has been their problem in the past few games.

I agree with mr300bowl, RHS may only need 1 or 2 goals to win, as the last goals they gave up came against Wilson Central.

  7. That's what I understood from Arman, but of course that's not the definite plan of action. And to stop all the arguing it is probably the best course of action.

  8. After talking to Arman today, he thinks no one will get the District trophies. But this is not set in stone.

Siegel did not forfeit the game, the decision was either to play a full game or no game. Shelton chose (wisely I might add) not to play and to rest his team for the Regionals. I think Columbia will give them a run for their money, but Siegel will probably pull through.

  9. I think you are missing the point. It is not about favoritism or liking one team over another. It is about finishing what has been started and following past practices. The game could have been played some way or another. The other district got their game in even though they had to go to a later start time to get the field into playing condition. I don't buy the bit about not playing on Sunday afternoon because it is Mother's Day. Sorry, but the girls are playing today down in Chattanooga for the Division III State Championship. Riverdale could have used the field out in front of their school this afternoon. Finally, this is the problem that I have with setting this precedent, now that this has been started, how will future situations be decided? They are calling for bad weather all this week. What happens if none of the Regional games are able to be played because of the weather? Two teams out of this region are supposed to play on Saturday in the sub-state: who gets to advance if none of the regional games are played due to weather? How would you make the decision? See, once you go down this path there is no stopping. In the past, we made every effort to get the district games in. This included even moving the games to a different city where a playable field was. I know because I was a part of those decisions in the past to find another field somewhere to get the district game in. The game could have been and should have been played.

Since the tournament host (Vice) wouldn't host the Championship game, the only other fair thing to do is let the highest seed have home-field. Done. Then they scheduled the game the safest day they could, enough rest after the other district games and enough rest before a knockout game in regionals. As the article says Arman and Shelton both met at the field and decided it was unfavorable conditions, BUT Arman understood Siegel was the team who could improve their standing and gave Shelton the choice to either play the game or advance as #2, no PKs. Shelton decided that it was best to not play, end of story. Seeing as RHS is #1 seed they should receive the District Championship plaque and Siegel should receive Runner-up. I know it may seem unfair, but you can't play one game for 2 trophies. So Siegel should just take the Runner-up and hope to have a chance at Regionals. If it happens that RHS v. SHS is the Regional Final sobeit.

And to answer the question on if Regionals are unplayable, it is my understanding that both #1s would go through. A crying shame for Siegel if that would happen...
