Just saying South Green got a bad draw and Pickett County got a bad draw. Both real good teams.
Because a better draw would be on the other side of the bracket ? With undefeated Gibson County and undefeated/reigning champ Middleton ? It's down to 8 teams - they are all pretty good at this point. Year our team one, we went ranked as # 1, drew # 3 in first round, # 2 in semi's, and #4 in the finals - everyone knew semi's was the championship game (it was - won in overtime and then finals being won by 20+) Go win 3 games and hold the trophy high - Good luck to all teams !

My two have graduated so my supporting days are over . Usually "follow" teams that have kids on them that I know through parents. Much less stress now !

I expect Peabody to be in the top 3 in district next year. Fighting for the #2 spot with Bradford as GC only loses one player and brings back over 90% of their production. Plus they are bringing in a loaded 8th grade class.
Honest question: How many Jr. HIgh schools does Gibson County get to pull from ? I know Bradford has 1 and Peabody has 1 - seems there should be lots more to "load" from at Gibson County.

Ok, am I correct in this assumption? USJ only has to win 3 games to get to the state championship? Are you kidding me? In Divison 1 Class A you have to win 9 games to get to the finals. That's ridiculous!
Would take 4 games to win Region / 1 Sub-State Win / 2 Wins in State to win it all. Could possibly win 1 in region/win sub-state (would be against # 1 seed in East and highly unlikely) and 2 games to win state so guess technically you are correct.
Haven't posted in a long time - usually your posts are entertaining and enjoy your back and forth with Memphis people, but this post makes you just look petty. They can only play as many teams as there are in Division II.
Also think you might want to re-do your Math with the 9 games in Class A. Using same logic, Trinity could win 1 game in District (come in 4th), Win 2 games in Region (come in 2nd), win sub-state, and 3 games in State and be State Champs with 7 wins (not 9).

Last time I EVER set my DVR to go over for only 30 minutes. Saw through the first overtime........*sigh*........ congrats to the Hawks - great game !

The biggest issue is that privates can have students from anywhere. I'm going to pick on TCA because its around me. A student from Dyer (45ish minute drive north of Jackson) can attend TCA, he/she drives right past Trenton Peabody and Humboldt but can not attend because he/she is zoned to Gibson County Special School District. He/she can't attend a public school in Jackson for the same reason. Not sure how that's not an huge advantage.

So guess this is the reason the games are played - from reading message boards all year, thought it was a foregone conclusion it would be an all 7A final.
-
I want anyone that is better than me to be in another classification so I can win..............

Enough whining about the draw - time to go play ! First year my high school team won State, we were ranked # 1 in state. Played # 3 in the state in first round (won by less than 10), Played # 2 in semi's (won in overtime), and # 4 came out of top half and blew them out in Championship. Point is we THOUGHT we were the best team going into state, and KNEW we were the best team at the end of the week ! Good luck to all teams this week - enjoy the madness, not many get to!

Final from 8A----- Jackson Christian -- 57 Middleton-- 50
GC if you look back, I called this more than once over the last couple weeks.
-
Third quarter in 8A Middleton 41 Jackson Christian 37

Does that mean Region moves back to 15A or do boys have to sweep also (which ain't gonna happen)...

After watching Middleton tonight, I feel a little better about things. Middleton is still very good, but they do have flaws in their game that were shown tonight. Single A in the west is going to be good for several years.... between Gibson, Middleton, Bradford, Greenfield, Huntingdon....there is a lot of very good young talent around here.
Middleton returns practically all of their key players next year and have some great young talent in the freshman and sophomore class. Bradford and Greenfield are both very young and very good. Huntingdon has the post girl, Belew, who is only a Freshman. Gibson is loaded.... it should be some great basketball over the next several years in Single A around here.
Always enjoy reading your posts. Interesting to see what you thought about MIddleton - did you happen to see Jackson Christian ? Was not at games but have seen both play couple times through the year, and still say they are a dark horse....not for sure Middleton will be hosting sub-state - really give shot for JC to knock them off either in district or region finals.
Don't think either one can hang with UC and both with have trouble with GC also.

I think we can play with Jackson Co.... I'm still unsure on how good Clarkrange really is... they beat Jackson Co. by 37 the other night, but was that a fluke game or are they really that much better, ya know? Someone I know has seen Jackson Co. this year and says that we are every bit as good as Jackson Co. and match up well with them. We just need to worry about getting to the state tournaments first... I worry about a possible sub-state match up with a very good Middleton team.
Worry about Middleton - very athletic, capable of any given night of playing great but also capable of playing a mediocre game. Maybe not worry, but keep one eye open for Jackson Christian who beat Middleton at home and played to a 3 point game at Middleton.....JC has lots of experience and very smart team.

Miss the days when the Gibson County tournament was Gibson County teams - had some great games over the years, especially Gibson County/Bradford girls.

I guess I will root for adamsville just like Im doing for trousdale. Although it would be interesting to see the two private schools play each other and set a record for smallest crowd at a state championship game. Is there any way both could lose if they played each other?
So, read 2 of your 5 posts and come to a quick conclusion..........it must stink to be you.

well, actually there have been times when a parent or two do more than the coach And it doesnt take being at practice everyday to see that some players dont really need to be on the court.
Threads like this make it much easier to handle that mine has graduated and not playing any longer.
-
Let's be real, you do know Melrose whole team left for other schools right? Whole team, reserve includes.
Man - how unusual is that ? That all of these parents would get jobs and poor kids have to move ! Oh wait.............um sorry..........forgot it was Memphis and rules do not apply there.
-
Not whining..I know we woulda had to play them eventually anyways..I just woulda liked for us to play more than one game, so i can lay out of work a few more days. That's all.
LOL - understand the laying out of work a few more days. It always ends too soon, whether it is first round of district or first round of state. Quite an accomplishment to make it to the final 8 - congrats to your guys.
-
They don't look that great to me..I hate that we (OR) got Southwind in the 1st rd. I feel like we could play with any of these teams and maybe even beat them, but we drew SW 1st RD..Tough luck.
Not picking on you specifically, but I swear EVERY thread I read in EVERY class has someone whining about their draw and how the team they are playing is a great team. News Flash: there are 8 teams left---they are all pretty good or they would not be there. Last time my high school team went to state, we played # 3 in state first round, # 2 in second round, and # 4 in championship---We were # 1 ranked team in state. Point is---we had to beat the best with #1,#2, and # 3 ranked teams in the same half of bracket...if you want to win, you are going to have to beat the best at some point.

I think this was the post he was referring to. I'm not attacking you, just showing what he was referring to.
Thanks for clearing that up. I knew that even in my worst (or best) efforts to get under some posters skin, I would NEVER "put down" cheerleaders or any kids that play their heart out night in and night out. If you read my quote, it said "cheerleader parents" referring to the Adamsville parents who were making a point of showing everyone in the gym that they were pulling for Riverside, or more accurately pulling against TCA.
-
Thanks bro. How goes it in West Tn these days? You still putting down cheerleaders or have you graduated to something bigger Mr Class?
I have no idea what you are talking about --- I went back and read everyone of my posts just to make sure there was nothing on there on a bad day about cheerleaders - they are some of my favorite kids at our school. But it made you look good....for a second. Good luck to your girls on quest for championship....have watched them play, like what I see and will not hold it against them for a select few of their "fan base" (you).
-
They have NO chance. What you do against the weak competition down there won't help you against either of these two teams. Best you can hope for is to lose by less than 20 if you host. If you lose and travel up here it will be 40. Whitwell lost to VanBuren, who Jackson County could have beaten by 100 either time they played them and Silverdale lost to a very weak Stone Memorial team by 28 points and Clarkrange beat that same team by 40. Let me slow it down for you neither team has a chance to win after tonight.
Nice post....sheer class.

Are the JC girls not in the same boat? Find it absolutely hysterical that there is NOTHING posting on the girls thread about who is hosting tournament....of course, they won

I had no dog in this hunt and just enjoyed watching, but I was screaming at FRA coach to take a time out. He let his kids fall completely apart - about 20 points into the come back, you just knew it was over. Harding kids showed a lot of guts.
