  1. While there is no opinion on any of this, there certainly are already organizations which carry out the same functions with connections with the TSSAA and outside the TSSAA. Summer Camps and coaching clinics are available through the State thru many venues in Universities and with the largest clubs thru the State. On this site, Play4Keeps under the Forum Travel Ball, at least one time during the year, does bring all of the organizations together with their web addresses to contact on those organizations she knows in the State. MAVA is a coaches organization which handles many of these thing for a number of sports and Coaches thru the state are involved in that organization, the last I heard some 4600. An organization made up of Media representatives thru the State are involved in Coaches of the year and All State Teams for all sports also and the infastructure to do this is already in place along with the Coaches which represent each sport. As I read this, you are advertising a Camp and a series of other camps and clinics some of which are going on off season right now it seems thru the STate. Many of these are conducted thru higher education contacts thru the State and have with them some higher education fields which include, in addition to coaching aspects but fields such as Trainers, sports medicine, sports injuries, etc. Many players and Coaches in the State are aware of these thru the TSSAA and certainly if you would like to be on the list on this site under Travel Ball, Play4keeps will keep your Club in mind I am sure.

I can't really speak to any of the above (I'm still having a hard time understanding it). From what I have seen over the past 3 years as a High School coach, there is nothing going on like what we offer. So we are going to continue to do our thing and hope that it betters the State as a whole. If other people are offering camps and coaching clinics, I support them...but that doesn't mean we need to stop what we're doing or combine forces.

  2. Coach, I would ask if you might add further details concerning tnis venture so that there could be further information. We are familiar that Troy Helton is the newly selected Volleyball Coach at Franklin Road Academy and he and an Associate have formed a Tennessee Volleyball Association which is a private venture that is organized as a Club. He was pst coach at Nashville Christian. There have been other ventures formed like this in the past which requires fees but with a little different spins. These have been formed concerning different sports.

I would expect a description of the venture might be in order, not because there is anything wrong with it but because this venture is new and fans and players can decide for themselves in the State.

Not a problem - i'm happy to oblige. We (me and 2 other coaches) started the Tennessee Volleyball Association in an effort to promote the sport of Volleyball across the state. We have focused up to this point on hosting the best summer camps & summer coaching clinics possible. This year, in addition to expanding our summer camps & summer coaching clinics, we are going to launch the Tennessee Volleyball Coaches Association - in an effort to bring all the coaches in the State better learning opportunities & input into awards like "Coach of the Year", "All-State Team", etc. It is our hope that the Coaches Association will bring the coaches into a cohesive unit and will function alongside the TSSAA in making decisions.

This "Best of the Best" Camp, however, is not associated with the Coaches portion just yet. It is simply an invitation-only camp for the best talent in the State.

  3. Coaches/Players/Parents,

We need your help in determining the BEST VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS in the State of Tennessee. We are grouping them by position & grade in order to bring them to a 3-day invitation-only camp in Nashville next summer (2012).

Please help us determine the best players by visiting www.tennessee-volleyball.com and casting your vote(s). Thanks for the help all!

    Sincerely,

    Troy Helton

    Tennessee Volleyball Association

    Director

  5. In my opinion stats are bogus and should only be kept for internal purposes (not to share in the paper or online). There is too much subjective information when it comes to stats, that they are unreliable at best and purposefully exaggerated at worse. My advice is not to worry about individual attention or glory and just look at which team won. That will usually tell the most important piece anyhow.

  6. Sounds like a great clinic for any coach, catnash1. Maybe I can slip in the back door and just observe. Did you need any volunteers for the concession stand? I would really like to meet Coach Helton.

I would love to meet you as well, PageMan. CatNash1 tells me great things about you. You are more than welcome to attend the Coaching Clinic on me. A friend of Page HS is a friend of mine /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
