  1. Season is almost here. If you want to be one of the first to get some games in, we can schedule you 2-3-4 games all in one day to help get your team ready to play. Need Varsity or Junior Varsity games, Saturday -Feb 23rd at Fly Park.

We will do our best to get you some of the best competiton or games against teams. Teams playing can still play in one more playday or 2 scrimages according to new TSSAA rules.

IT'S SOFTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE! (Of Course It's Snowing Here Now!)

  2. All Games Played at Fly Park, Franklin TN. We are expanding High School Playday with space available for travel teams to jump-start your season. Play alongside several High School teams beginning their season. ASA rules & Round-Robin format, no tournament. Scrimage with new players/team before the start of the season, that counts.

  3. MCHSCoachT,

The new ruling from TSSAA as has been discussed, applies to the Pre-Season Games from what I can tell. If a particular team played 2 pre-season tourneys, from what I've been told at the state office is that team could not play any other Varsity, Junior Varsity Games (Individual or Tourney), like we have been able to do in the past. If you get any other ruling, please advise. Hopefully, like you said, they haven't messed with the Regular Season games, yet!

  4. Four seniors from SEC Champion UT Lady Vols, some of the top softball players in the country will be at the Lady Patriot Softball Camp at Page High on Sunday, December 9th (1 pm - 4 pm).

Come meet these players and learn some of the basic fundamentals as they have been taught.

Shannon Doepking, 1st team All-SEC catcher, one of the best catchers in the country for the past two years.

Megan Rhodes, 2008 starting pitcher from Lipscomb High, last season backup to All-American Monica Abbott. This past summer she was voted the Most Outstanding Pitcher at the Canada Cup.

Kenora Posey, Slap-hitting player, One of the fastest players on the Tennessee team, Infielder/Outfielder

Tonya Callahan, 1st baseman, 2 time All-American, UT's career home run leader.

Come meet these players & learn from the best! In case of bad weather, the camp will move indoors.

To register or for more information call (615) 532-3158 or tracyt2@wcs.edu

  5. MCHS Lady Warriors are looking for a few JV games for the spring of 08. We will play on Saturdays at home or away and are willing to split the cost of umpires if we play away.

Email me at coacht@ladywarriorssoftball.com if interested.

    Thanks

After talking to TSSAA State Office, I was informed that ALL Junior Varsity (JV) games count towards the allotment of games for Varsity. I don't like this rule, you don't see Football or Basketball JV games count towards the number of games they play. The rule is if they are played outside of a varsity doubleheader i.e. a single game or like in a tournament play, they count the same as a Varsity game. This limits playing a separate JV schedule if you are able to do it.

Just wondering how this effects other programs or plans for this year.

  6. I was in the Pride of the Southland band last year (UTK's band for those who dont know), the best band in the country. While i DONT consider band a sport, I challenge anyone to go out and try to do Circle Drill, especially prepare for it. Up there the band is biiger than most sports at that school. Takes a lot of dedication. The ones who dis it are just posting out of ignorance

I doubt very seriously that the Band at UT is bigger than most sports at THAT school. Bigger than what, Football, basketball (m or W), baseball, softball, track - what sport are we talking about.

Also, if band is a sport, then I guess band members are Athletes?????

  7. what teams are in this tournament?

The following are in this tournament-

Page, Antioch, Harpeth, Centennial, Independence, Spring Hill. Others expressing interest should be committing soon- Should be some good competion just getting on the diamond.

  8. LADY PATRIOT EARLY BIRD PLAYDAY

Page High will be hosting their 2008 Preseason Softball Roundrobin Playday.

    When: Saturday, February 23rd

Where: Fly Park in Franklin, Tennessee

No of Fields: 7 regulation fastpitch fields

    No of Games: 4

    No of Teams: 20

    Cost: $150.00

Because of the new TSSAA rule, you will still be able to play 1 other playday or 2 scrimmages.

We will match teams of similar ability, by request. Enjoy the start of the season with some great competition, facilities, food and hospitality.

We will accept the first 20 teams, first come-first serve. 24 teams played in our tournament last year.

Information will be sent out in the next several days to those that played last year. If you do not receive any and are interested in more information, we will be glad to send it out-

    For more information, email softball127@comcast.net

Or call: Coach Tyree (615) 532-3158 work

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE! HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON-

  9. I will say that I witnessed a great game between 2 pretty good pitchers. Both Morgan & Bailie pitched GREAT GAMES and both deserved to win the game. CHS just came away with the Big Play at the end of the game & deserved the win. Both teams are really good & should continue to play next week at Region if BHS can get by RAvenwood, which is another good team.

MORGAN looked pretty good & probably will lead CHS back to STATE for 2nd time this year. Best Wishes to both teams-

  10. I'd like to say that I have witnessed a bunch of All-star teams & nominations that I wonder where did they get all their information. The MTSCA does about as good of job of nominating probably more players than any other organizations & media outlets. To start with, if a coach is not a member, you can't complain about the selections, put the heat on the coach & ask why they are not members.

If players like Megan Rhodes, Danielle Pieroni, Natalie Brock were playing this year & their coach was not a member, guess what, they would not be selected. In addition to a coach being a member of the organization, if they do not rate a player being one of the best in the Midstate, that player will probably not be selected either.

In addition, if someone reads this thread & doesn't get it by now that to be selected, the coach has to be a member AND the coach has to nominate the player and select why they should be considered.

Many media outlets pick teams in their area and never get imput from coaches but somehow comeout with a pre-season or post-season all-star team. Ever figure out how they do it?

I'm proud of all the girls that were selected. Does that mean they are the best, not really but if their coach nominated them, there is a good chance that they deserve it. Later on, we will be selecting an all-star team from the Mid-state to play in Kentucky. Are they the best players in the Mid-state, Maybe! But if their coach is not a member of the Coaches Assn, they will not get to play.

Congratulations to all the Coaches for their hard work & input into the association to make it work. Best wishes to all & especially, CONGRATULATIONS to all the players on the team and the others that didn't make it. High School ball, it's just now getting exciting. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL TEAM!!!!

  11. I might have missed it, but was wondering how Coach John is doing. Is he back on the field yet, hopefully he his. I wish him the best & thanks for all the hard work he does to promote softball in Middle Tennessee. Let's keep the prayers going for him either way.

  12. You know I really don't know who they lost but I don't think it was much.....Which pitcher from Baylor are you talking about?

They did lose a good player, 1st base/Pitcher to ETSU. But for the most part, Baylor has everyone back and is loaded for this year. Should be a great year in Chatt, GPS will test them but Baylor should be the favorite.
