  1. Well after seeing alcoa play tonight against maryville i can say that i agree with govman on a few things. they may not be top 10 in the state but they will compete with a lot of teams. And also, they dont make the schedule all they do is play the games and so far have done a pretty good job with a 9-2 record. Kara Harris proved to be on of the top guards in the state with another 20 pt game. shes a really really good player with loads of pontential. They have the team to advance pretty far given the district that they play in and them already beating AE whos gone to state the last 2 years. The lady tornadoes are a better than average team.

  2. Kara Harris of Alcoa is one of the best sophomores in the state. Leads East Tennessee in 3 point percentage and tonight added 6 more 3's. Very capable of putting of big numbers. 23 against carter, 20 vs fulton, 18 vs maryville and also 18 vs. lenoir city. very quick player who a big reason the lady tornadoes got off to the start they did.

  3. There is a group of 5 or 6 people that have gotten together the last few years to interview and pic the new coaches. I believe that group is going to stay the same. Some of the names of the people are Robinette, the principle, rob daugherty, the athletic director, mr steve fugate, a former coach, coach dalton, i believe jane qualls and john harris.

  4. The girls are now 12-1, although they will probably come out with a loss tonight at oak ridge we are still proud of the way are girls have been playing. At alcoa it has been a long time since we could say that we could put a team on the court that could really compete. Alcoa has always been a football, mens basketball and track school, so i hope our girls can continue to do well and build a name for themselves. Also, i wanna tell my sister kara great job, keep it up. And davida, koral, sarah, whitney and samantha, yall keep it up also.

  5. The Lady Tornadoes have been playing very well this season. Playing together as a team and winning some games, something they hadnt seen at alcoa in a while. They are not very deep something that may hurt them down the line. They are playing right now with a 4 guard lineup, with Koral Stache leading the way. Also with soph. Kara Harris, who is very quick and also able to put up big numbers on offense(20 against fulton, 18 vs maryville). Sarah Fowler is running the point Daveda Dean, probably the fastest girl in the state, is also in the lineup. If they can get there post player Whitney Anthony to be more consistant on a nightly bases then they could do very well.

  6. LeBron James really really impressed me. I like the way the Dick Vitale and Jay Billas described him saying physically he is a man right now. You would expect a big superstar like that to be more me oriented but the way he gets his team involved is just great. He is a great talent and I wouldnt mind watching him play again on tv.

  7. Actually ctsports he is in the top 100 tailbacks. And being rated #9 in the country at any position is a great accomplishment, and that says a lot about carl and his coaches and teammates at maryville. Ive played against him in high school and now in college my team has faced backs such as T.A. Meclendon from NC State and i believe carl can be as good a running back as he wants to be. Theres no knocking him, hes a great football player, and i hope he does really really well.

Let me clarify. Wartburg is quicker than the Bulldog teams of old and that will surprise Alcoa. They're not faster as a team, but they have enough speed to keep up and that along with their experience and physical play will be enough for an easy win. Also, Alcoa is not as fast as they have been. I remember the last couple of years it looked like they had a dang 4X100 relay team on the field.

lolol, we did have a 4x1 relay team out there the past few years, a 3 time state champion one, in james rainer, jamel sankey and jerome robinson. the 4th member didnt play football. but i think alcoa is always gonna be faster then most teams they play, but id like to see what wartburg has, the way everyone talks it may be an upset. however, im alcoa for life so i have to be biased and pick my boys to win.

Being from Alcoa, I agree with some of the comments that were made, however, we did not have a lot of discipline from higher up. One thing I can say positive about Coach Dalton is that there will be a lot of discipline! O.K. - back to the game... I feel that these posts underestimate Alcoa. This is still the fastest team Wartburg has seen since last year at this time. You can practice and run the offense we run, but your srimmage partners will look nothing like what you will see friday night. This is a must win for Alcoa also. The winner will be going to the playoffs. Although young, these freshman believe still! It would take a very determined Wartburg team to stop them friday night based on skill verses skill. I think Alcoa's quickness will make the difference.

I want to know what we did at Alcoa to make you say were so cocky and arrogant. We dont talk anymore than maryville or oliver springs, as a matter of fact all they want to do is fight. It seems like sally is right, that 70 points we put up must have really hurt your feelings.

Austin James might be a good 1A QB, but greenback is 1A and they dont play anyone. I have seen them play and James just throws short passes to his receivers and they run all over the field. Let James play a good 5A team and we will see how good he is.

Thats not fair to say that, if you want him to play against a 5a school, give him a 5a offensive line and 5a backs and wideouts.

Actually brown was invited to the ut-rutgers game and he has a room full of letters from D-1 schools.

He can have all the letters he wants, letters mean nothing, does he have offers from any of these schools. Bowman is getting offers to play, not just recruiting letters. Adarius Bowman is getting this attention for a reason. Hes the best.

    who

Wait til you guys see Kara Harris, a soph. for alcoa. She had a good freshman year averaging double digits and having 5 games with 4 3's and is a step away from being a star around tennessee. Also one of the fastest basketball players in the state, a member of alcoas state runner up 4 by 1 and 4 by 2 meter relays. Watch her this fall. Just ask coach ferguson at UT, he saw her play at powell last year.

As for running mouths, Alcoa has been running theirs, Look at the post that talks about sweetwater - GP predictions, and someone from alcoa is on that post, already starting it! Not sure if it is a player, but sounds like it! We do agree on one thing thou, Maryville is a great team. But your comment about alcoa droping back down to 2a while true, it's not in the way you think, if you are referring to tallent and size! Sweetwater is not your tipical 2a team. Not downing Knox. West in any way but Sweetwater would beat West this year! I know Alcoa is tallanted, but they are to young, and tradition won't mean a lot this year. The Wildcats seniors still remember when they were freshman, and Alcoa kept in their first team and ran up the score on them 48-0. They were very young that year much like alcoa is now. You know what they say about paybacks! Sweetwater 41 - alcoa 13. One game at a time men! GO CATS! :);):):x

Ummm i just wanna say we didnt keep our first team in, we had 9th and 10 graders in the game scoring by the end of the 3rd quarter. We didnt try to run the score up on people.

I agree...The Austin East Team of 1986 had amazing atheletes. I saw the state Championship against Brentwood Academy. Even though BA pulled an amazing second half comeback, AE held them at the 1 yard line to win the game. AE had some Sunday Players! Leroy Thompson (Penn State), Von Reeves(UT). Another good team from the East was the Alcoa team of 1989. Billy Williams(UT), a great QB(Rusty....), Shannon Mitchell(Georgia). Great talent! on the 89 alcoa team kevin jackson was the qb. you are talking about rusty chambers.

The Austin-East teams with Leroy Thompson and company were as good as anybody. Jeff County in 87 was the best team from a group that lost two games in three years. They were undefeated (nobody even close) and destroyed Gallatin in the state championship game. That team featured Todd Collins (long NFL career) and Taylor Quarles (great career at Furman). Would have beated any of the private school boys.

Sweetwater is a very good team but they will not beat Goodpasture. Until something is done to stop the privates from playing in the public area the road to the State Championship will go through goodpasture. By the way, the team with the most talent in AA is Tyner. They are just not multiple enough on defense and the offense lacks any real strategy. Any good team with talent and a good staff can beat Tyner.

I played on the 2000 Alcoa state championship team, and I know that sweetwater has a couple of talented players on the team. But to beat some of the best in the state it takes more than just raw talent. A lot of it comes from the leadership that is on the team. What kind of leaders do they have in their senior class? The talent that we had and the leaders, and the dedication of players and coaches helped us to beat teams as bad as we did and go 15-0.Anyone who knows, how dedicated have they been in the off season? Because thats where you when you win championships.
