  1. Meadows system is hard to understand

    i just don't think he's a good football player,

Hatcher is big but can't move at all.

yea u do have to have a good line to run the wing-T, your always pulling and picking up blitz from where the guard pulls.

the system is as hard to learn as you make it. spend the time to learn it, and it comes as second nature. i'd rather learn the wing-t than learn other offense, which are much more complicated due to pass protection and other reads you have to make. every thing in the wing-t compliments itself, making it much more easier to understand and execute.

Wall has 2 great football minds helping him become a good QB. he's mobile, and has a fairly strong and accurate arm. with meadows and phillips working with him, he'll be fine.

yes, hatcher is big, but where you're wrong is he CAN move. he's got feet and they're not as slow as they seem.

the only thing the offensive line has to be able to do is remeber their rules and go through their progression. if you can remember to block down, pull, log, and kick, you can play in the wing-t as a linemen. it's not that difficult.

william blount will surprise some people, actually....alot of people.

  3. James is now at East Tennessee State where he played football for the bucs and was ranked 3rd in the conference in kick returns (24.3). If I'm not mistaken he's now running track too. Indoor he finished 3rd in the 60m (6.82) , and two weeks ago he qualified for the NCAA regional track meet in the 100m. (10.48). He also finished third in the Conference 100m dash yesterday (10.50).

  4. i think you view things differently than i do, and probably many more people as well. whether you want to be refered to as an "individual" or not, you still represent the maryville program. and regardless whether or not you care what you post, the people who read your jibberish associate you with maryville, which in turn gives maryville a bad reputation, plus your frantic remarks give the other posters the assumption that all maryville fans are like you(which is not true). ron said it best, you should learn a little humility. like i said before, one bad apple ruins the whole bunch. dont go by the old saying, "if you've got it, flaunt it."

  5. all 3 of these come from blount county and all 3 are juniors.

Brandon Warren, Alcoa- probably has the most potential out of the 3. great TE/WR, even better pass rusher. 6'3 225 as a soph.

Dustin Linsey, Alcoa- great blend of power and speed. great instinct. will make his living at LB at the next level. comes from a great football family as well. 6'1 230 as a soph.

Brad Walker, William Blount- hoss, bottom line. Tough, STRONG, and can FLY. not to mention great instincts, and he's playing the go to position in coach meadows wing-t. he'll see 200 carries come his way this year. 6' 190 as a soph. has uped his weight and speed tremendously.

  6. knowing coach meadows, and the athletes he had at his disposal at alcoa in 2000 when they won the state title, i would put my money on the alcoa tornado offense of 2000.  they took a ball control offense and averaged less than 3 minutes a drive, for the entire season.  the state champion 4X1 relay team was in the backfield, plus they had 3-5 other guys would could flat out FLY!!  scott also told me that their secondary wasnt too shaby that year either, only giving up 75 yards or more 1 time the whole season.  they had 2 all state players in the secondary.  one had 5 picks, the other 8.

    guru,

i think im going to have to agree w/you on your statement. rainer and sankey (4.3), meschendorf and robinson (4.4) davis and george (4.5) and harris (4.6). im partial b/c i was part of the prolific attack!! :D as you said, the wing-t is a ball control offense, but the athletes we had turned it into a quick strike, fun to watch offense. the secondary wasnt too shaby either, if i do say so myself!

my pick for the best linebacking corps would be the 1989 tornadoes. Shannon Mitchell (UGA), Jamie Henry (UT), Chad Smith (MTSU). Saw Mitchell and Henry send 2 Rule High players to the hospital in one game, ouch.......... :D

  7. i think that i will speak for alot of people on here raider, when i say that you bring down the respect that people have for rebel football with the childish and idiotic remarks you have made since this board has been open. believe it or not, maryville football is not the best thing since sliced bread. i respect the program, and know coach quarles well and know that if he knew you were on here talking the way you talk, putting everyone else under your shoes to make yourself feel better about your lack of playing time, that you would not be part of the rebel nation. i went to the school across pistol creek, but i still know a good program when i see one. it's the bad apples like you who make everyone "hate" maryville football.

  8. busy busy busy...........

is the walker going to maryville rumor floating around again? the tornadoes had a better year than anyone could have ever thought, under the circumstances. they were picked pre-season #5 and ended up getting a great learning experience to build on for next season. i just wish a few of those guys wouldnt play basketball and would hit the weights. you'd be amazed what kind of progress you can make w/an extra 3 months in the weight room.

  9. your first mistake in defending the wint-t is looking in the backfield. you can read guards all day long, but a good coach will influence and it makes no difference. in high school, the best offense to run is the wing-t or the spread, bottom line.
