  1. I'm attempting to hold the comedy of this post in check. I don't know which is more humorous/comical. An Anderson County supporter directing girls basketball smack toward Oliver Springs knowing that AC has won just one game in the last twelve aganst OS or referencing the word odor when ATTEMPTING to convey something other than uninformed baised nonsense. I think referencing the word odor wins. Sounds very Lake Cityish to me.

    The Facts are:

OS has won 11 of the last 12 games against AC. Yet, you are chest thumping like you have won the Super Bowl or won the District Tourney ( something AC might do since OS doesn't play in District 4aa this year) Anyone with half a clue & in the know would look at the series record recently and laugh at someone proclaiming superiority against a team so young in OS. If you are buying stock, you buy OS. If you are selling, you sell AC.

    Other Facts

Rick Insell has a top 10 recruiting class coming in next year at MTSU. Yet, you dismiss this as not building a power & potentially top 20 type program ( ignorant & biased opinion) He has signed thre top 75 polayers in the country. Its obvious you are stillscared for your jealousy of Insell when he coached at Shelbyville and produced National & State Championships along with AAU championships. Sorry his success so terribly impacted you.

Western Kentucky has been to two final fours in the last 20 years & 17 NCAA tourneys during that time. yet, you state they aren't a power in womens basketball. The Lady Hilltopers have a 8-1 record this year with victories over National Power LA Tech, Big East & NCAA frequent Louisville, SEC Arkansas, Atlantic 10 Charlotte. Western Kentucky plays Vandy next week. The Lady Hilltopers will win that game & should be a 4-6 seed in this years NCAA tourney when bids come out.

  2. Western Kentucky is 8-1 currently. The Lady Hilltopers have wins over SEC Akransas, National Power Lousiania Tech ( you might have heard of them if anywhere near being astute on major college basketballas you PRETEND), NCAAtourney regular Louisville from the Big East, and a win over a solid program in Charotte from Atlantic 10.

You might want to check Western Kentucky's past seasons. You will clearly see this is a typical season for them. Even though teams like SW Missouri State ( now Missouri State) , Western Kentucky, Old Dominion, and Lousiania Tech don't play in the Major 8 conferences ( ie Big East, SEC, ACC, Big 10, Big 12, Pac-10, MWC, & Atlantic 10), doesn't mean they arent a national power. The four above schools mentioned can play with most anyone on a yearly basis and their history has shown this.

One a side note, Its kinda comical to discussing college athletics with some people people from Tennessee that rarely travel outside East Tennessee except for a four day excursion to Myrtle Beach.

If a team doesn't play in the SEC, they are typically some of the most ignorant and uninformed sports people in the United States when it comes to non-SEC teams. That is the national perception of fans of the SEC ( not all of them, but the majority).

Regarding MTSU becoming a national power, its obvious you have vision issues from your posts to date. Insell wins at everything he does. That isn't an opinion. That is a fact. Also, his first recruiting class he nabbed not only Stewert ( from Oak Ridge a top 8-15 High School Recruit in the country), but a couple other players who are ranked as top 50-75 recruits in the country that were being recruited BY many powers. If you think Insell is done recruiting top players in the country, you are sorely mistaken. This is just the begining of a power being built in Mboro. Insell will play a national bigtime schedule before conference play. This year he already has high profile teams that are even playing at MTSU for 1-1's. I doubt any of this makes sense to you and what kind of foundation is being layed that will propell MTSU into a national womens basketball school. From reading your posts, Im not certain you get many things beyone a 20 mile radius of the sunsphere.

    Lesson Over.

  3. MTSU should be a 20-8 type team this year. Also, with a top 10 recruiting class coming in next year, MTSU is flat out going to be loaded. Btw, the Sun Belt conference is considered one of the top 10 womens basketball conferences in the country. Western Kentucky plays in the Sun Belt. If you are familiar with the Lady Highlanders, they have been to numerous final fours, almost every NCAA tourney, and so forth. But, Im not here to educate the not so informed. Its not my job. MTSU will be a top 20 progam under Insell. He's that great of a coach & will bring in top recruiting classes on a yearly basis. I do understand there is some jealousy based off his Shelbyville teams and AAU programs. Like hm or not, he's a bigtime winnner.

Also, the reference of living in the past. Congrats to AC. They snapped OS's 11 game winning streak by a mere 4 points. Im happy this one sided rivalry has become more competitive. It was looking at AC on the schedule and marking it as an automatic W.

  4. Congratualations to AC on their win. Now, maybe this can become a competitive rivalry which always brings out the best in both teams.

It was a great win for the Anderson County girls basketball program & snapped a 11 game losing streak to the Lady Cats. Also, with AC's enrollment close to doubling AC's, when you consider OS's dominaton of AC into account, it makes that 11 game winning streak even more impressive.

    From the above poster,

"Not many predictions right on this one. Lady Mavs come into the rage of the cage or whatever you all call it and win. WOW Everyone is suprised. So did inexperience at the coaching position loose the close game or inexperience on the floor for the Lady Bobcats? Lets here some stuff.... Witch Freshman looked better tonight. Oh yeah the Stewart girl being ranked top 15 how come Summit didnt try to get her. And Insell got her because she has played AAU ball for him. Lets here some stuff about the game. You OZ fans can back your team with the best of them now lets here some facts about the game. Congrats to both teams keep playing hard"

I did manage to overcome the numerous grammer errors & run on sentences. So, no worries there. Regarding Stewert from Oak Ridge, she was recruited by EVERYONE. I don't know if UT offered a scholarship, but they certainly were interested during he high school career. Anyone that follows national high school recruiting knows this. Also, the backhanded comment concerning Insell is comical. . He's put together a top 10 recruiting class at MTSU. Certainly his AAU connections has assited him. But, a couple of his players that signed on with the Lady blue Raiders never played for his TN AAU team. Its safe to say Insell is in the process of building a top 15-25 team at MTSU.

Again, congrats to AC on the win. With OS's youth, teams better capatalize now before this team really hits the gas pedal later in the year.

  5. I'm sure Dupree is a very good freshman. However, she is far from the best post player Oliver Springs will see this season.

OS has already played against Oak Ridge's KeKee Stewert. Stewert is considered one of the top 15 players in the country & a High School All American on EVERYONE's list. Coach Insell at MTSU nabbed one of the top players in the country who was being recruited by EVERYONE.

Also, OS will play against Super sophomore 6'3 Glory Johnson From Knox Webb. Glory is considered one of the top sophomores in the country as well & is averaging 20 ppg and 12 rpg.

Also, OS has played against York's Brandi Brown who is the front runner for Miss Basketball AA.

Also, there are some of the state's best post players in the Mid South Tourney OS competes in over the holiday break.

Knowing all this, OS will respect Dupree, but they have played against some of the best in the nation and state of Tennessee already.

    Predcition

    OS 56 Anderson County 43

  6. First congratulations to Oak Ridge on their ranking in the USA Today. Another year with Oak Ridge being considered as one of the elite basektball teams in the country. Under the guidance of one the all time greats of high school basketball in Coach Prudden, OR has fielded phenomenal teams and almost yearly sends players to Division One.

Its simply amazes me to see people insult Oak Ridge when its roster has a couple of kids on the roster from the outlying areas. Guess What? The players and their families are looking out for their best interests in most cases. They CHOOSE to attend Oak Ridge & play basketball for one of the all time great coaches. Also, they will recieve a tremendous education at one of the nation's best public schools. By playing for Oak Ridge, they will compete and play a national schedule and without question be reviewed by college recruiters.

Knowing all that, how can anyone pass judgement on any parent or kid that would want the best for themself or their kids? Someone mentioned Regean Thompson from Claiborne County who is a 9th grader at Oak Ridge. In a perfect world, all high schools would be equal and the same opportunites would be available. However, life doesn't work that way. At some point, all high schools have kids that have transfers or kids from other areas that attend a school to play a sport. In Reagen's defense, she started OR in the 9th grade. How is her situation any different than kids that attend Webb, Catholic, CAK, or another private school? How is it different than a non athlete that wanted to attend the best academic school that will prepare them for college? Its not.

There is not one person on this board that needs to pass judgement on any kid or parents want the best for their family. Lets face it, Oak Ridge is the best in East Tennessee in girls basketball & academically. Sure, they will occasionally get upset or have a down year ( which in OR's book is a 4-6 loss season & most times making the state tourney), but on a yearly basis other very good East Tennessee teams compare themselves to Oak Ridge and how they stack up. Oak Ridge is the measuring stick.

Again, Congratulations to Oak Ridge for making East Tennessee proud.

  7. With a road win over previously undefeated Coalfield, Oliver Springs improves to 7-2 & more importantly 4-0 in the district. This was Oliver Springs's second road victory in the last week over a team that played in Murfreesboro last year ( Oneida & Coalfield).

With OS being mostly freshman & sophomore team, Coach Christopher has the Lady Cats rolling in the early season a lot faster than thought was possible. Keep in mind OS's two losses were against AAA power Oak Ridge on its court & one of the better AA teams in York Institute.

OS plays in the Mid South Tourney against some of the better teams in Tennessee. Three weeks ago most would have thought OS would have taken some lumps with such a young team in a prestigous tourney. Who knows if this team keeps progressing they way they have in the last three weeks.

Great Job by New Coach Christopher! The next three- four years with a lot of core of the team still playing will keep the Lady Cats as one of Tennessee's best basektball programs.

  8. The intelligence of this board is comical at times. I don't know if its a combination of being trigger hapy to correct aopposing view that allows for erroneous filled posts of simplistic ignorance. Maybe Both. Lets furter examine for entertament appeal.

"Great OS basketball lineage how many state championships in the past 15 years dont go comparing yourself to Shelbyville and OR they are out of your league down there in the land of the OZ. Oh yeah the reason those Freshman and Sophmores are so good they had a great middle school coach dont forget about SAM."

    Definition of Lineage:

Lineage= The descendants of a common ancestor considered to be the founder of the line.

Now that all segements of the trigger happy audience undestands the word lineage, lets see my original post & how the word was used and why Gold's response is bizzare.

"Kayla Christopher would have remained at Oliver Springs regardless of who was named

    coach at Oliver Springs.

Kayla could have played at any school in the state of Tennessee ( including Oak Ridge & Shelbyville who are two of the elite programs in the nation), but she chose to play for her hometown high school.. Maybe coming from great OS basketball lineage had something to do with it.

When people make ignorant comments that her mother would have bolted if she wasn't name coach is ridiculous. She comes from a first class basketball family.

Obviously Coach Christopher is doing something right with a freshman & sophomore dominated team. They just beat Oneida ( state tourney team last year) on their homecourt by 9 this early in the season and is 7-2. Expect this lady Cat team to conintue to improve as it become a very very good team by March under the direction of Coach C."

CLEARLY, I stated she came from great basketball lineage. That is completely accurate. If anyone knows anything about her family, they understand her dad was a OSHS mens assistant and head basketball coach for many years in Coach Brown. Also, her mother ( Coach Christpher) was a great player in her own right. My points is, Kayla Christopher is considered by many experts and recruiting analysts as possibly the best freshman in the state of Tennessee. She has played AAU basketball with the best players in Tennessee and if she didn't want to be at Oliver Springs EVERY high school in the state of Tennessee would be estatic over he suiting up for them. That is not an opinion. That is a FACT.

Also, who compared OS to Oak Ridge or Shelbyville.? Its obvious again you are so trigger happy for a correction that you were void of reading comprehension of my post. As clearly indicated, I stated kayla could have played at two of the elite programs in the country in oak ridge & shelbyville if she chose to, but she comes from a great tradition of basketball players and coaches from Oliver Springs and her heart is purple and gold. For whatever reason, your post read I was stating OS is on the same level as OR & Shelbyville which clearly isnt the casre.

Interesting you mention the last 15 years. No schools can compete with Shelbyville and OR. However, OS made it to the state tourney twice in the last 15 years. Also, it has made the substate 5 times during that span & won 7 district championships. Also, OS has sent 3 kids to Division 1 schools to play basketball & dozens of others to to Division 2, NAIA, and Juco colleges. OS has an enrollment of just over 400 kids. Oak Ridge has an enrollment of over 1600 and Shelbyville has over 1200. Both OR and Shelbyville have been in the USA top 25 poll almost more times than any other program in the country. The point is , OS isn't on the level on a yearly basis as OR and Shelbyville. But, what school is? Without question, OS has become one of the better girls basketball programs in Tennessee which typically means you can compete with anyone in the country.

On a last note, Coach Kristopher is doing an EXCELLENT job with the young Lady Cats. She deserves the support of everyone.

  9. Great Job by Coach Christopher and her talented young Lady Cats.

Coach Christopher has done an excellent job. Beating a State tourney team that brought back many of their top players on their own floor with such a young team speaks volumes about Coach C and her coaching prowess.

The way this team is coming together should have true Bobcat fans estatic over the next 2-4 years.

  10. Kayla Christopher would have reained at Oliver Springs regardless of who was named

    coach at Oliver Springs.

Kayla could have played at any school in the state of Tennessee ( Oak Ridge & Shelbyville who are tow of the elite programs in the nation), but she chose to play for her hometown.

Expect this lady Cat team to conintue to improve as it become a very very good team by March under the direction of Coach C.

  11. Swanson, please tell me how Oliver Springs will be lucky just to make the regionals.

There are three conclusions I can derive from your post based off your opinion that OS will be hard pressed to advance to the regions ( top 4 team in the District).

You are either voiid of actuall knowledge on Oliver Springs Lady Basektball, you are envious of the success of Oliver Springs, or both.

    Lets further examine:

Oliver SPrings has won 29, 28, 31, and 30 games the last 4 years establishing themselves at a powerhouse in Tennessee Basketball. Why its certainly accurate OS lost its top scores from last year, there is an abundance of some amazing talent stepping in to replace the seniors off last year's Oliver Springs team that was ranked #1 in AA for some of the year. Yopu used Oliver Springs's game at Clarkrange to validate your point. Here is a newsflash, Clarkrange is one of the most difficult away games in the state of Tennessee regardless of classification. A young and very talented OS team ( which was missing two starters) to play Clarkrange within 11 points is a good sign.

OS's vicotry over a good Greenback (20-9 last season) program by 14 on Saturday proves OS is already a good Single A team that will drastically improve as the season progresses. So, to make a comment that OS will struglle to get to the region is way off base. Who will beat them? Certainly, Coalfield and Oneida have the capabilty. No one will state otherwise. However, OS plays teams like Knoxville Webb, Oak Ridge, Jeferson County, Kingston, Anderson County, and other larger schools to prepare them for the district tourney. So, besides Coalfield and Oneida, who else in the district is going to take the third and fourth spot? Simply put, OS will easily make the regions and compete for the District championship. While OS will lose some games early this year due to tough scheduling, as the season progresses and this great talent gains confidence, it doesn't bode well for the district and region.

Also, to judge a great Clarkrange team because it struggled in the first game of they year is way off. Onieda has always struggled against Clarkrange. For tha matter all of the district has for the most part. The district should be happy that there is a team that actually has Middle Tennessee Single A schools like Clarkrange and Jackson County following the district and had some success against State powers.

  12. Didn't Oliver Springs beat Clarkrange by double digits 2-3 years ago on their home turf ( upper Cumberland area)?

Clarkrange had beter beat OS at ths game. With possibly the best freshman ( that's not an exageration either) in all classifications, along with other amazing talent, OS will be a force.

They might lose some games early on as they find an identity, but by Feburary, OS should be rolling as the tournies start. With this group playing together another 3-4 years, Its in the best interests of all teams to take advantage of playing a youthfull Bobcat team. If OS comes away with less than 5 losses before District's, that doesn't bode well for the rest of Single A considering the youth on this team.

  13. Coach Christopher has investesd many hours on the bench assisting Coach Wright on 2 state tourney teams and two others that were ranked in the top 10 in the state during most of the season.

She deserves support from everyone. Im certain Mr. Woods took advice from many people close to the program ans made the best determination for this year. Around 15 years ago, there was very sucessful middle school was hired at OSHS to take control of a team that consisted of some of the best individual talent ever at the school ( 5-7 of them played college ball somewhere). Despite the fact this young team had gone to the sub state the year before, they never advanced beyond the DISTRICT tourney for two straight years. While the talent never gelled and this team never won a region game, it shows you the difference between high school and middle school can be different.

The point is, you can't always judge who will be a great coach on the high school level. As Coach Wright might have been a tremendous coach in high school, college will be vastly different regarding the style, personalities, and most importantly recruitng. Some people can coach at any level while others can be excpeitonally gifted at one level and not be able to be as successful at the higher level. Of course, each situation is different. Im certain OSHS principal Woods weighed down every possibilty before making his decision.

With the decision being made, its in everyone's best interest to rally around Coach Christopher. She and her team have very high expectations of cutting down the net this year in MBORO in addition to winning a 5th straight district championship.

  14. It doesn't suprise me.

Most times when a coach at a AA or A school that didn't have ties to the program before they started coaching, its difficult for a school to keep that paticular coach especially given Wright's record at OSHS.

Coach Wright has done an exceptional job. If this was a latteral move to another high school, it would strike me as questionable. However, to coach on the college level at such a young age, it makes sense to make the jump into the college coaching ranks. His salary will increase and this presents more opportunities down the road. I wish him the best as most will.

Doing this during the school year seems wasn't the best timing, but what is good timing? I am certain OSHS will field a very good team regardless of who is directing. When you have the kind of talent OSHS does, it won't take much.

Tonya Lively Snyder ( head coach at Clinton) should be considered in my opinion. She is a former Lady Bobcat and has done well at CHS. I don't know if she is interested as she was in the past. Also, what about Kandi Duncan?

    Anyone else know of possibilties?

  15. Since reading comprehension seems to be absent from your analysis ( see past posts as well), this doesn't bode well for your hobby as a journalist.

However, I will gladly assist you in understanding the intent direction, so there is no furhter confusion. I was not insulting the people of Morgan County in any capacity. I factually pointied out Morgan County's paper reads at a 4th to 5th grade level. You inaccuretly concluded I waqs alluding that Morgan County people can only read at a 4th to 5th grade level. I never sated this. However, you conveyed this by jumping A to Z without comprehending or simply ignoring the content. Your two response posts to my one were directed on playing victim ( which you are not) and how I insulted the people of Morgan County ( which I didn't). If you read crefully, you clearly see I was focusing on a paper, not its readers.

As I should, I accept some responsiabilty for your confusion. I made an inaccurate assumption. I assumed you were astute to newpapers being categorized on reading levels judged on it's vocabulary, writing, format, and content. Again, it has ZERO to do with the readers intelligence, but everything to do with the paper. I read the NY Times and USA Today. Just because the USA today is on an 8th grade level, doesn't mean I can only read at an eight grade level.

Also, Just so you know, all facets of the media in general are similar. From CNN, BBC, to FOX news and even radio stations are the same. One news network might spoon feed its audience where there isn't much thought process. Another will deliver factual content t and allow the veiwer to process and make the determiniation ( although its rarer today).

So, as you have figured out, you missed the point entirely as you raced to hit the reply key.

Also, don't cry about being singled out after throwing yourself into this debate when an opportunity ( albeit, an ill fated one) came to strike.

  16. Only if I could be the sports editor of a newspaper ( one that doesn't require a communications degree for its writers, much less the sports editor) , who's largest advertisement is world reknown Partner's Pizza in downtown Wartburg, then maybe I would have a clue about something.

If I was fortunate to acquire such an esteemed position, I could anoint myself a self derived athletic expert on all sporting events in the Frozen Head State Park area. Then after writing on these events in my paper that reads at a 4th to 5th grade national level ( below the USA TODAY which is at a 8th grade level or even the Wall Street Journal at a 12th grade level), I could possible get a "clue" in life.

  17. All that I deserve?

Give me a break. The arrogance CAK has shown in this thread is comical.

You are a new program that won its first AA region game tonight that had posters call Oliver Springs uneducated, redneck, welfare recipants, and other insults, but you call me without class because I point out CAK is NOT WEBB. WHICH it clearly is not on WEBB's level in academics or athletics. You aren't even on Catholic"s level.

CAK is the third best private school in Knoxville. That isn't saying a lot since Catholic and Webb are considered the only two of importance throughout the state.

Also, keep me posted on what you think is class and my "alleged" shortcomings in this area. Possibly, I do have the necessary attributes to back up what I post and my point wasn't about who won the game as much as it was letting some West Knoxville "Christians" know their place and their egos aren't all that importnat after all in the grand scheme of things.

    I'm done for now...

  18. Congratulations to CAK on its first ever region WIN EVER. Since PUBLIC school ALcoa thrased you by 30, this win means you at least will make the playoffs, but are far from REGION CHAMPS.

OS has won 3 region championships in the past 10 years and finished 2nd numerous times. 2nd place is Something CAK will not do even after PUBLIC school Loudon defeats CAK to make the Warriors 3rd best team in the region.

  19. Seems some CAK feathers are a bit ruffled by FACTUAL CONTENT.

    Lets dispell some erroneous assertions,

    1) I don't resent Christians. That would make me a hypocrite. However, I do resent Christians that think that because they have an exclusive group that anyone outside that group isn't as pure. We have seen in this in some capacity from SOME CAK posters plainly. Not only is this comical, but its rather amusing.

2.) Let's touch base on some reading comprehension. Here is what I said in regards to Oliver Springs being a difficult place to play

"Easily, Oliver Springs is possibly the toughest place to play in AA football in not only East Tennessee, but the state".

Notice I did say AA football, not all classifications. But again, reading comprehension seems to be VOIDt from many of CAK posters today. Anyone seeing a pattern? LOL

Classic post mentioned by Bubba who stated the following:

"First off I don't think CAK got on this board and said they were gonna beat OS 28-0. That was me. Secondly, its a SLIGHT stretch to say that OS is easily the toughest place to play in a region that includes the favorite for the state championship(aloca), it is absurd to say that it is the toughest place to play in east tennessee(teams such as Maryville and OR), and it is absolutely retarded to say it is the toughest place to play in the state. Ever heard of teams like <a href='http://www.coacht.com/inside/team.cfm?SchoolID=37&SportID=1' target='_blank'>Brentwood Academy</a>, Montgomery Bell, Franklin High?? You say that I have no knowledge of tradition or that I am just excited about my team's beginning success when you are the fool making some of the most astronomically ignorant claims I have ever heard about a so-so AA team based on how they did in the 90s! I don't think anyone cares about how OS did in the mid 90's, or how badly you think they would have beaten teams of the past. I'm gonna guess that you are some washed up ex-OS player from the mid 90's who is trying to relive his "glory days" by talking all the smack behind his keyboard that he couldn't back up when he was on the field."

Where did I state above that Oliver Springs was more difficult than Oak Ridge, BA, and other AAAA and AAAAA programs with thousands of students and triple the resources? I didn't. My context was talking AA football and I stand behind that Oliver Springs has possibly the most rabid and loyal fan base in AA football. Obviously since CAK has its training wheels on in regards to understanding how to even hand off the ball properly, we can kinda overlook some ignorance in insults thrown at one of Tennessee's best AA programs in Oliver Springs by a school that HAS NEVER WON AN AA region game in CAK.

    3) . I am far from a washed up football player reliving glory days. I haven't been to a high school football game in 2-3 years ( with excpetion to Oak Ridge-Clinton this year) and maybe 10 OS games in the last 10 years. I've got bigger fish in the sea to focus my activites on champ. than being consumed by high school football 24/7. Why i read this board for informaiton purposes, I hardly see where I possess any "washed up" characterisitcs. Possibly when I check this board and see inaccuracy and a football program like CAK not showing respect to a program like Oliver Springs, then I have no issues in puttinga program that is still in its diapers in its place. Even more funny, a small time coach ( see Coach Logan), using thrid grade insults because of his inabilty to articulate a point properly. Wow, great role models there at CAK.

    4) Oliver Springs has beaten 3 opponents that are of quality in Coalfield ( 5-1), Gatlinburg Pittman (3-2), and Scott County(3-2). These schools are certainly not cupcakes. OS lone loss was to AAA power Kingston. As for calling OS a so so AA program, CAK can only hope it becomes a so so program. With OS, Sweetwater, Alcoa, and Loudon in the region, CAK will be lucky to beat Wartburg and Rockwood consitantly and keep out of last place in the region.

Enjoy your 15 minute drive to Oliver Springs tonight.

  20. 28-0 prediciton? Are you kidding me?

CAK, which just this year moved up to AA football and is brand new to the region, expects it can win 28-0 at Oliver Springs? You can't be serious. Either you have ZERO knowledge of tradition and outcomes in this tough AA region, or simply you are excited about te fact CAK has progressed to a decent football school in its short and breif entry onto the football map and is blinding you, thus thinking its possible to shut out a Bobcat team on its home field, much less win this game.

Easily, Oliver Springs is possibly the toughest place to play in AA football in not only East Tennessee, but the state. Also, OS has been to the playoffs in this region almost every year since the mid 90's when five classificaitons were implemented. This is a classification that has included, great Harriman teams ( Jermaine Copeland, super talented Alcoa teams, very good Know Webb teams, and super Swetwater teams., along with a couple years of very good Onieda and Austin East teams. Oliver Springs easily battled them and won half te time against these programs when they were at their "high".

The lack of repsect Oliver Springs receives is bewildering. Chad Pennington's ( now in the NFL) Knox Webb Teams couldn't win at DJ Britian Field.

Alcoa has a losing record at DJ Britian Field over the last decade, and since the Kingston and OS have renewed its rivalry, AAA power Kingston is 1-2 at OS in its last three games.

So, you honestly expect CAK ( that has yet to ever win an AA region game in its program's history) to win 28-0 at a 4-1 Bobcat team that has played very well this year with its only losss coming in a very close game against AAA Kingston?

Excuse me, if I kinda laugh at that prediction as being without merit.

  21. This board is comical.

Now, rednecks & private school insults are being thrown around regarding the a CAK & Oliver Springs football game. This is a high schoolfootball game, not a culture clash. But, if we must focus on factual differences, lets do this regarding the two schools.

Just to dispel some myths, when did Oliver Springs become known for being "redneck"? Last time I checked, the city of Oliver Springs was considered part of the Knoxville metropolitan area and counted toward its metro census. Kingston's, Harriman's, and Sweetwater, and other cities that attempt to look down at Oliver Springs are not INCLUDED in this count which is considered the 64th largest Metro area in the United States. Additionally, understanding the geography of Oliver Springs in comparison to CAK's, its only located a 15 minutes from CAK's campus in West Knoxville ( when Pelissippi Trfaffic is moving at a decent speed). With the campuses so close together, how does people that are just separated by just 15 minutes of traveling on Pellissippi parkway ( through Oak Ridge which is one of the most technological advanced places in the world) suddenly become the poster child for rednecks ? Maybe its an inferiority complex that they are indeed not WEBB and they know it. Let's read on.

Possibly, a couple CAK posters need to get off their elite "I'm in a private school" attitude and realize they support CAK, not WEBB. There is a HUGE difference between those two schools. WEB school sends its students to IVY leagues schools, Vandy, UNC, DUKE, Northwestern. MIT, Stanford, and so forth and its lower echelon students attend the University of Tennessee.

CAK sends their kids to Carson Newman( not that there is anything wrong with that) and other private christian schools along with some kids to UT. While I am certain CAK adheres to its principle beliefs of instilling Christian beliefs into its students while giving them some of the basic education of public schools that don't conflict with their Christian beliefs, that doesn't mean CAK is any better than any other pubic school whose students mostly adhere to the same Christian ideologies.

In fact, there can be a more validated argument that public school like Oliver Springs indeed makes for more rounded individuals who can adapt to a complex population that is full of many religions, ethnicites, cultures, and so forth and they won't seem "lost" and "confused" when assimilating into the American population.

Last time I checked, that was far from being a redneck attribute. The redneck attribute last time I checked was a group of people that impose self boundaries and attempt to keep people that aren't like them away from their beliefs. The difference is most students at Oliver Springs don't feel a need to run to a private school to excersise their values and put them on display in a private school.

Moreover,I am certain if you do a comparison, academics and test scores at CAK are closer to scores at Oliver Springs, than WEBB when you compare test scores. Interestingly Enough, Students at Oliver Springs don't have to pay 3500 to 5000 per year for their education in addition to paying taxes like CAK parents do. In my opinion, this makes the parents of Oliver Springs more intelligent for utilizing a system that works perfectly without wasting money and "hiding" their kids from the world.

    Oliver Springs 27 CAK 21

2 years ago, didn't CAK lose a scrimmage game to OS something like 70-21?

    I think so...
