Win the games that count (district) and then you'll get somewhere.
-
I hate to see that west tn is always stacked with so many talented teams.
no prediction from me on this one.. for DC's sake lets hope for some upsets in other games.
-
I JUST MOVED TO TRENTON RECENTLY I JUST LIKE WATCHING THE GAMES
Rule #1 of message boards. When you type in caps, it gives the illusion of yelling.
-
sadly, you can't patch together multiple games to get those 4 quarters.
and yes, DC needs to win it this year, AAA won't be as kind.
-
As for the "rumor" . . . THIS IS A SPORTS BOARD!!! Hellooo! what do you expect people to say on here???? You and codeyh make DC look bad, SaintKnute and Kojak make DHS look bad . . . ohh and GOOD LUCK in the district tournament!
I make DC look bad? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Oh brother, that's hilarious.
And honestly, anyone from Dyersburg calling someone else a redneck? uh, hello.. you all live in Dyer County.. having a wal-mart and a McDonald's doesn't make you rise above the masses.
-
Enjoy--savor every minute of ever game; reality may be lurking just over the horizon.
Reality sir... they're winning again this year... and DHS is still taking it on the chin.
Just thought I'd check in on that post a year later.... happy friday 13.
That's about the kind of post I would expect from a little pencil-necked geek. Were you playing a high school sport about then? Why don' you just be honest and say "No sir, I'm not good enough to play with the talented boys: I'm just a SUMMER LEAGUER!
Time to get the popcorn ready for that one....

Lets look at the facts. Backing up to Courtney Jones.
His dad got the job at Northview MS as the principal... I know because he used my old office at the board until he got moved into the high school. Courtney moved as a result. So since he was in DC, TSSAA cleared him, Butch used him! The "bus incident" was a kid needing a ride to the game. Everyone knows Butch treated the kids like family. And anyone who thinks THAT incident was recruiting can get bent. Honestly. I'm sick of the Butch Hopkins thrashers.. because yes, he was a character.. he also did a lot of the right things too.
Now, boys and girls, lets move past that.. to NOW. the 2008-09 season.. okay?
Dyer Co. is now 27-1 (11-1). There are a lot of people, due to the old days, that can't stand that fact. They're going to put in complaints, especially if they can make some sort of far-fetched case. As far as the "recruiting" claim.. when you're a powerhouse in Region 7AA, with a talent pool that allows you to confidently play freshmen/sophomores.. of course students want to go there. Within the county, they're the newer facilities, the better program, they're the kids that play in Murfreesboro, not the ones that go to watch during spring break.
Academically.. well.. I won't go there. just compare the numbers on honors day. If you're not an athlete.. go to Dyersburg. lol
I think this witch hunt is all hogwash guys... everyone wants to hate the team that's winning. Look at ANY other sport (Jeff Gordon.. the Yankees.. the Red Wings.. the Lakers.. USC..) and you'll see that people are always gunning for those at the top, and hoping that they fall.
Now, if the TSSAA comes out and says there's a violation.. I'll be the first to say that it caught me blindsided... but at the same time, make sure your own yard is clean, before you come yelling at ours.

If Dyer Co. was going to lose a game , this was the best time to do it.
Couldn't have said it better myself.
Losing now:
- Reality check. First district loss since 2006, snaps 26-game win streak this year.
- Focus. Remember Tebow during football season? I want that response from DC. I want heart, I want focus.
- Stress relief. Remember the DC girls in LaRue's first year? (99-2000).. they were a nervous wreck before the Lexington game (that I still think the state owes an apology for.. Cordova = crackerbox gym)
Regardless, this team is going to bounce back, and realize that they can't be a 4th quarter phenom every game. You have to play All 4, All Out.

with Sulzer going down with the shoulder injury, I think things shake up a bit now..
Hammer becomes a UFA in 2010. I think he stays until the contract's done. I'd love to spend his 2.5m elsewhere.. but we still have to hit the cap floor.
This chart will help ya understand/frustrate you.

Anybody know anything on the status of the DC/SS game Friday?????
Dyer Co. 80
Jackson SS 65
according to the CoachT scoreboard.
-
Oh come on, surely i didn't kill the thread with that comment.
-
Koistenen and DeVries are SO gone before trade deadline.
Zanon will get re-signed, don't be surprised if it's only a year, with Sulzer and Blum in the hopper.
And Sully, he's back, so now he needs to produce.
-
Can you guys imagine if Butch were still at Dyer Co and having this kind of run?
TSSAA would have an office set up at Akin's Body Shop just to keep an eye on 'em.
-
The picture says it all.
I recall a transfer that Gibson Co. has that came from Obion Co. (girl's team)
To quote an urban lyricist, "Don't start none, won't be none."
Although, if a freshman came in and dropped off 22 on me.. I'd be a little upset too.
-
thanks for updates!!
-
what about the DC player that took the nasty fall during the game? any reports?
-
Nick Gilliam
Long as coach stays out of this kid's head... he's going to be something to watch.
-
Congratulations to Fulton. Way to bring it back to Tennessee.
Um *confused* .. I didn't know schools from other states played in the TSSAA??? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
I kid.. I kid... congrats Fulton!! You earned it.

Keys to the game:
-Dominate the glass (Minor proved he can rebound)
-Take Advantage of the Charity Stripe.
Should be a great game.. hope they carry it on nashville TV with the SEC being all screwed up.
(Btw, hope nobody was affected by that!)
-
Now take your lose and like a man and cheer for the team that beat you...
gotta get that last little stab in there.. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> anyone else notice we're the only west tn team not still playing? /bored.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bored:" border="0" alt="bored.gif" />
HURTS ??????????? That's an understatement ! (Not dissin your stats quote) /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> But man what a run ! What a GREAT bunch of guys ! I don't know when I've ever seen 6 - 8 kids that could play as a unit like this bunch & NEVER "skip a beat" ! I'm PROUD to say that I'm A D.C. Alum & to see ALL our sports programs on the map again ! I KNOW one thing if it hurt your feelins as bad as mine not bein' able to be there ....................... have you gotten over that "sick feelin" of not bein' there to support those guys ?
It stinks twice as bad 'cause dad was going to come up and watch all the Saturday games.. So I don't get to see pops Did I mention I'm at work? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

My house is less than 30 minutes from the Murphy Center.. and where was I?
North Nashville.. at work. AAARRGHHHHH Listened on radio,
This time of year makes me miss my old apt in the 'boro.. could walk to the Murphy Center.. hahaha
The guys had their chances.. one big difference maker was Free Throw opportunities.. They had 28-37 and we had 6-11... 22 point difference from the line. That hurts.
-
it was LaRue's team.. yes. But I knew that group really well from helping out when Coffman was there.
<-- Class of '01 (the first of many times this decade the boys went to state)
-
or half the team is on the IR or scratches. lol
oh preds.. I could go for seeing a few more from 303.. lets just hope they pull some more points out in the next few games.. STARTING WITH THE RED WINGS.
/popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> heh.. I know right.. I can be optimistic.
-
I've VERY familiar with the girls from that year...I kept books when Coffman was in town /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> #42 was a great post player / rebounder. But they also had a guard that could bust a 3 from the half-court line it seemed.. that cracker box gym in Cordova just wasn't forgiving against Lexington.. Guard shot 1-18 from 3 land that game, if I remember right. (hence my comment)
The guys yesterday shot 7-34 from deep yesterday... That's just a tough pill to swallow.
Minor had 19 rebounds total according to the box score.. that's just dominating the glass.
