Wade is a good coach but he’s always aligned with great players.  Good players make coaches look really good.  Corn Elder was going to the NFL with or without Wade.  Many other examples as well.  Ensworth won before Wade, DCA won before him, CPA won before and after him.  Good coach no doubt but lots of other pieces to that puzzle.  He will do well at BA.

I believe that we can all agree that good players make good coaches.  I have also seen plenty of teams that had good players that weren't very good too.  Coach Wade has always taken the teams and players (great/good/average) and made them better, which is what a good coach does.  Sure Corn Elder was going to the NFL with or without Coach Wade and Ensworth won before Wade, but, they never won a State Championship before Wade and they haven't won one since he left.  Coach Wade also arrived at CPA before they had ever won a State Championship and he was on the staff for the first two Championships in 2000 and 2002.  He then left and went to Davidson to bring them their first 3 State Championships.  The rebuild he did at DCA was very impressive on top of all that taking an 0-10 team to a State title in 3 years.  I just want to put a little perspective to the history of Paul's career.  He has been at places that had runs of good players, but, in my opinion, he made those players better and BA hit a homerun hiring him.

FC is an organic program? Garrett Weekly from Kings , Devin Lively from Knox Catholic both promoted for Mr Football. Last year Bryson Reeves transfers into FC, all junior and seniors. Maybe  John Mcneal has transfer portal in high school that nobody else knows about. Recruiting off other schools roster. NC absolutely recruits using IEP which not many schools offer. The redshirt freshman quarterback for NC is at the school for IEP. So yes NC recruits but so does FC. DivII was created because of recruiting/FA. I don't believe most DivII A schools recruit but the top two this year absolutely both do.

That’s pretty dang classless to come on a message board and talk about a kid having an IEP.  Please delete this part of your post.

I don't care about all this nonsense in here. All I care about is that we don't get the old guy regardless of his accolades. Go to East Brainerd right now and bring home our coach! I am for Coach Grant Reynolds coming home to Boyd. I know I speak for the majority of our alumni, and donors as well.

What was the reason for Reynolds leaving in the first place?

Another Year Means , Another Year of BCB~MVP's

By the Numbers: Week 1 TC at FCS. Wow what a way to start the season. This is a match-up of 2 2018 State Runner-ups!

Friendship Christian 2018 Review: Last year saw the Commanders tally a 9-3 record and eventually fell to Davidson Academy in the Finals 27-39. They averaged 36.6 ppg (points per game) while giving up 15.4 ppg.

2019 Outlook: This year the Commanders look to find their way back to Cookeville but they have a tough schedule ahead of them.  4 of the first 5 games are against teams that advanced to the Playoffs. However, the 3 bigger games in that stretch will all be played on their home turf (yes Turf is the correct word, as over the offseason Pirtle Field recieved a makeover). That should lessen the blow. The back half of their schedule appears to be lighter, although a Week 11 trip to Crossville to face 4A Stone Memorial will certainly be a challenge. If Coach McNeal and his staff can keep the boys from Possum Town healthy in that match-up, I feel they will be primed to make another deep run this year.

Trousdale Co. 2018 Review:   Trousdale Co. rallied to finish the 2018 year with a 11-4 mark and capped the year with a 17-9 slobber knocker loss to Peabody in the Championship. Last year, the Jackets put up 30 ppg, while only giving up 11.3 ppg.  The Hartsville Club lost some talented kids and good leaders but they also played alot of youth the last couple of years under the reign of Brad Waggoner.

2019 Outlook: Coach Blake Satterfield now takes over as Head Coach on the Creekbank. If that name sounds familiar, it should. Blake's Grandfather (Jim B.) and Father (Clint) are both apart of the TSSAA Hall of Fame and both have their own storied careers as Head Coach at Trousdale Co. Blake played for his father and helped the Jackets claim the 2005 1A Class Title. He then took his talent and played college ball at the University of the South. Since graduating, Blake as been on staff at Trousdale Co. serving in various roles, most recently as the DC during last seasons Runner-up finish. Blake's squad has been picked in the Top 5 of 2A ever since the 2018 season ended and are the odds on favorite to take Region 4AA. This years schedule features only 9 match-ups but the non region schedule could be a challenge. FCS always provides a tough out and will be a big test to open the season. Gordonsville in W4 and Macon Co. in W6 are old rivals and won't let the Jackets easily off the hook and Portland in W8 should be better after making the 2018 playoff field. Watertown is determined to defend their Region Championship, and I'd expect they will be present a quality game for TC in W3. Westmoreland is another old rival and region foe that is looking to build on their 2018 playoff bid.

Match-Up History: These 2 met last year in Week 2 in Lebanon. In that game, the Jackets prevailed with a 27-21 victory. Going back to 2000, these 2 have faced off 16 times. TC has a 10-6 record in those contest, however FCS has won 4 of the last 7. in those 16 games the average score has been TC 18.5 - FCS 14.7. History shows the tight match-up between the 2 schools.

My Take: This W1 game will be one of the best match-ups all week and maybe of the season. When these 2 rivals square off, real football is played! I look for this to go the same way this series has gone over the past several years. A tight ball game coming down to the 4th quarter. The team with the least amount of mistakes will prevail. Final score is too close to call.

    That is outstanding!

Honestly what would it have helped if your school had known in late October or early November?  Would you have been able to schedule another team?  See if a school in Kentucky or Alabama has an open schedule date.

Ezell was scheduled into the region games.  I know Friendship had them for week 5, then several weeks later Ezell notified all schools that moving to 8 man football could be a possibility.  Of course, this left every team in limbo all the while teams are scheduling.  Friendship and Overton had a tentative agreement if Friendship could get and answer within a reasonable manner.  A whole month went by before Ezell notified the schools.  Personally, I don’t care because Ezell did what was best for Ezell and that is understandable because they are trying to keep their doors open.  But, it mattered because teams are looking and pickings are slim.

This is correct.  Only possibly exception would be The Webb School in Bell Buckle.  They play 8 man football in MTAC but played their first 11 man game this fall.  Not sure of their 8 or 11 man status for next fall.

    JFW

Webb Bell Buckle is playing 11 man starting next year.  Lakeway Academy is going to have to wait 2 years before they enter, but, it is my understanding they probably will.

    From the TSSAA minutes:

     14. Approved the proposed District Alignment for DII Class A Middle Region & Proposed Region Alignment for DII Class A Football. It will be effective for the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years.

Does anyone have any insight on the way the regions might be aligned?

It appears that the Regions will remain the same as the previous two years and the West will be adding USJ (came down due to losing 21%), Trinity Christian, and Columbia Academy.  The West will lose Zion Christian because they were granted permission to have a non-region football schedule.  The East will be adding Grace Christian Franklin and Webb Bell Buckle.

East: Friendship Christian, Mt. Juliet Christian, Middle Tennessee Christian, Grace Baptist Chattanooga, King's Academy, Ezell-Harding, DCA, Grace Christian Fanklin, and Webb School Bell Buckle.

West: Davidson Academy, Fayette Academy, Nashville Christian, Clarksville Academy, Tipton-Rosemark Academy, Jackson Christian, USJ, Trinity Christian, and Columbia Academy.

I played under Coach Montgomery at NCS. Best coach I ever had in any sport my entire life. Brothers is an embarrassment to football. That's just how it is.

Coach Brothers must be doing something right because they won a state championship and I hear that NCS has gotten a bunch of transfers in for later this year and next year.  I am not saying the man is without fault, but, I would think that he is doing something right to be able to lift the program up and keep it there for this many years.  NCS was a traditional average to below average program for decades.  Sometimes coach's are a victim of their own success and Brothers has had success.

I do know the family and yes I do know why he isnt there. As I said, people should be asking Brothers about this

How could Brothers have anything to do with Lawless not being at UT right now?  It seems like Jeff is being given way too much power in the eyes of some.

  10. 3 minutes ago, OrangeEagle said:

How is NCSdad running down a coach or bashing a coach if what he is saying is true. Montgomery was the reason all the talent came to NCS.

What is happening at NCS is just like what happened at JPII when Brothers was there.

There is a reason an all region lineman and back to back years both starting RB have bailed on that guy.

Who was the all region lineman that left?  I don’t remember that.

  11. Where does King's go from here?  Is there anyone on staff that would be a good fit or will Lowe take an assistant or two to Powell with him?  Is there another head coach in the Knoxville area that would like to give it a try at TKA?  It's definitely not the same job now as it was when Lowe got there, but, they should be going through a pretty major rebuild this year.

he may have had a change of heart, or a raise at MJ......if CA has gone from there last count of 2oo ish up over 265, then they will in fact have to deal with sum of D2AA.....

....and contrary to what She thinks, the Fightin Irish future is still bright and will deal with CA...if they get out of the middle region D2AA....which is quite different than D2A...as is D2AAA to us.....tho She make think differently

    Booger just sayin

You are correct.  Nothing but respect for what Columbia Academy has been able to accomplish the last several years, but, they are getting ready to have to tackle an entirely different animal if they are regulated to DII-AA.  Of course, their numbers could go down and they could be DII-A, which would be a good fit for them.

  13. 1 hour ago, Booger said:

like theres a forseeable future championship at DCA.....Columbia Academy, Nashville Christian and Middle TN Christian has that foreseeable future locked up......better off shinin up that old gold ball stored away in the janitors closet....and multiple championships u do not have.....it is 2...or duece...or even a couple.....but not multiple

.....but ole Booger wish he had a one of them Gold Balls.....even if Booger had to go back 18 and 24 years in history to find the last one

    Booger just sayin 7e4096e3d9ee22895a059d7791969d45.gif

Perry most definitely interviewed for the job yesterday.  The question shouldn't be why would Perry want out of MJ?  But, why would DCA give an interview to a person that has made it very well known about how he feels towards private schools?  Plus, based on Columbia Academy's enrollment numbers from the last count, when CA comes to DII, they will be AA and not A in football.  Therefore, the ND Fighting Irish can take care of the Bulldogs.

  14. Congrats to the Commanders, the seniors, and all their fans on a truly special year that ended the way you can only dream your football career would come to an end.  It's great as an alumni to be able to watch your school to continue to reach the pinnacle of football success, where previous teams laid the foundation and created a tradition for them to strive to reach, is awesome to witness.  Also, congrats to DCA for a great year and run to the State Championship game.  I wish the best to Coach Beau and many prayers will continue to go up for him and his family.

  15. It is truly a shame what has happened to Lincoln County football, which was all created by a few in the school board that were bound and determined to return to the days of yesteryear when Fayetteville High School reigned!  These same people honestly believed that their new city school would dominate small ball athletics across the state of Tennessee because they would be playing 1A football with 6A talent as they would say.  I don't know what the heck that means, but, Ray Charles could see what was about to happen to the football program at Lincoln County High School.  Now, you have a once proud program that is a shell of itself and the other that hasn't even come close to being what those that created it had envisioned.  Best of luck to the next head coach!

The funny thing about this is everyone has said NCS needs a passing attack all year, yet the Eagles continue to rack up rushing yards. No offense to the FC coaches but BGA has a legit coaching staff and a better team. NCS still had over 250 on the ground that night. I love how over confident FC is right now.  Myers faces 9 and 10 man boxes every week and leads TN in yards per game. Buckle up, the Eagles are coming

The FC fans are confident in their Commanders like you are in your Eagles.  I would say most fans know very little about the other team's abilities, but, they know all the details of their own team and support their team unconditionally.  You seem to have confidence in the Eagles as you should because they are a great team.  Don't read too much into the post of the Commander fans being over confident just like I won't with the Eagle fans that are saying you guys will win easily.   We love our teams.

  17. I would like to throw out the name Jajuan "Speedy" Foutch (#3) from Friendship Christian School.  Jajuan has 97 carries for 1,196 yards, with an average of 12.3 yards per carry and 19 TD's rushing through 8 games.  I realize that there are others with more yards and very deserving, but Speedy has not touched the field in the second half 4 times and has played all 4 quarters only twice.  He is absolutely electric with the ball in his hands and has tremendous speed.  He is being recruited by several D-1 and FCS programs alike.

I was expecting a better game by our side the other night but as usual it takes four or five weeks to figure out how most of these teams really stack up. I really didn't look forward to this new private league but it is what it is. To me that's who has the deepest pockets and we all know that.

Well, right here is the bad news.  TKA does not have deep pockets.  Their facilities, compared to most every other private school, are not very good.  It may take some time to adjust to D-II, but, in the long run I believe that you will like it better.

  19. Idk how in the world DCA got to be on the opposite side of DA and Nashville Christian.

The reason NCS and DA were not put with DCA, FCS, MJCA, or Ezell is because I-65 was used as the dividing line, which puts 8 teams in each region. It's not about rivalries as much as it is geography.
  20. Any reason for you prediction? I am interested if anyone has seen both teams play this year. Not likely. Maybe someone has seen Harding?

I have actually seen both Webb and Harding play.  Speaking from a size standpoint Harding will have the advantage over Webb, but Webb is great at what they do.  Therefore, the line play is probably a push in my opinion.  Athletically, Harding is very good with the Austin (#20), Moore (#7), and Martin (#21) kids.  They have great speed and athletic ability to go along with a high football IQ.  Webb has 3 running backs that almost make it unfair for the other teams in DII-A.  Will Harding be able to match Webb's athletic ability and can Webb's smaller line move Harding's size up front?  I give Webb the advantage by a small margin.  The Spartan's discipline will win out in the end.

  21. You too! You guys have some great people. Folks like Dickey, McNamee and Cherry and others are as good as you'll ever find. Have the greatest respect for those men and their families.

I was very relieved when the game was over that during the game your huge linemen didn't squash #51 and so was his mother. Lol

DCA played a great game and will represent our district well come playoff time.  Your son played really well too!  I know that you are proud of him and his accomplishments.  Good luck to the Wildcats moving forward.
