  1. Week 5, the week end of September 24, 2010. A lot of teams have already played half of their schedule and yet, the intrigue is just beginning for some. Who knew Melrose vs Mitchell would be "The Shoot-Out at the O.K. Corral?" Who knew the week before that Whitehaven vs Ridgeway would be "3-yards and a cloud of dust?" Well, anyway ... here are what I consider to be the 'Big Games in Memphis'.

    Ridgeway (4-0) @ Melrose (2-2)

    CBHS (4-1) @ Millington (4-1)

    East (3-2) @ MUS (3-2)

    Westwood (2-3) @ Arlington (4-1)

    Cordova (1-3) @ Collierville (2-2)

    My picks are as follows:

    Ridgeway beats Melrose ... 17 - 14

CBHS bounces back and beats Millington 24 - 14

    MUS outplays East and wins ... 38 - 28

Arlington underestimates Westwood and barely wins ... 42 - 35

    Cordova wins this District 15 showdown ... 21 - 14

That's it for me. Your turn!

Ridgeway seems to be legit. I will take them 28-14

    Brothers bounce back 28-14

    MUS wins 31-14

    Arlington wins

    Cville wins

Once again, any CBHS fans know the status of all the injured players?

  2. All right Memphis high school football fans it's getting pretty interesting. There are some schools that aren't doing as well as was predicted and there are some schools doing better then expected. That's high school football for you. Here is my list of games.

    Collierville (2-1) vs Ridgeway (3-0) @ Halle

    Whitehaven (3-1) @ CBHS (3-0)

    Craigmont (3-0) vs Cordova (1-2) @ Raleigh-Egypt

    Mitchell (4-0) @ Melrose (1-2)

    Germantown (1-2) vs Houston (2-2)

East (3-1) vs White Station (0-4)

MUS (3-1) vs Olive Branch (1-2)

    Sheffield (3-1) vs Hillcrest (3-1)

    My pics are as follows:

    Ridgeway wins a hard faught game ... 21 - 10

    Whitehaven wins a defensive fight ... 13 - 10

    Craigmont wins ... 21 - 7

    Melrose beats Mitchell ... 28 - 21

    Houston beats Gtown ... 21 - 14

    East wins .... 28 - 21

    MUS wins ... 31 - 21

    Hillcrest wins ... 16 - 14

Well ... that's it for me. Your turn!

    Ridgeway wins 28-7

    CBHS wins 10-7

    Craigmont wins

    Melrose wins 35-34

    Gtown wins 21-14

    White Station finally gets a W 35-14

    MUS wins 17-14

    Sheffield wins

Any CBHS fans know the status of Warren, Jennings and Zdancewicz? Add Trent Johnson to that list too, I think he got hurt last week.

  3. Hoping someone can give me a preview of this years team. I know we lost 3 transfers to Olive Branch (whats up with that). Seems to be a down year for the Brothers, but hopefully we can surprise some teams.

  4. This is a huge game for both teams because the winner will most likely finish first place in the West Division and have home field advantage in the playoffs. I see the Brothers coming back after a tough loss and taking this one, but it will be tough. Any news on Watsons injury? I hope he can go this week.

  5. The first half of the CBHS- Melrose game was very good. There were two big plays in the first half, on Watsons first run he went for about 20 yards to the Melrose 25, but fumbled. On their next drive CBHS was in Melrose territory and a snap over the QBs head led to a 4th and 39 and completely changed field position. CBHS has no QB right now that can throw the football or run for that matter. Watsons only long run down to the Melrose 3 was called back for holding. I dont think CBHS crossed the 50 after that play. The Melrose defense gave Watson little room to run and quite frankly played better than the CBHS OL. I dont want to bash the CBHS OL because everyone in the stadium knew what was coming. Antonio Harper the MLB for Melrose is a beast. The CBHS defense played well, but when you turn the ball over twice inside your own 30 and your offense can only get two first downs the entire game, there is not much you can do. The CBHS defense was worn down after playing nearly the entire game. The Melrose QB has a strong arm and has some scrambling abilities. He got away from a few CBHS defenders that led to the long TD pass. I expect Melrose to have a very good season and once CBHS can get their QB and other players back, I expect them to have a good season as well.
