    The Lady Blue Devils come from behind and beat a very good American Heritage team by 2 pts to claim the championship. Down by 14 after the first quarter the Lady Devils battled back and took their only lead of the game with 1.7 seconds on the clock. Laken Leonard steps to he line and hits 2 FTs to break a tied game. American Heritage had 2 major college prospects that have signed to play at LSU and Wake Forest.

    First of all congrats to JC for reaching state and for taking out last years state runner up. And congrats to Manassas for winning and making it to the championship game. There were a few things that I would change.

     

    1. Coach- you don't take a plan that has been working for you and got your boys to state then change it------DON'T FIX WHAT'S NOT BROKEN!!!!

     

    2.You took out your player that got you there. You had a guy who shot over a 6 foot 7 guy but didn't even give him a chance to try over the 6 foot 8 guy at state.

     

    3.You let a player that shot a 3 when he got it in his hands and didn't make a one of them. He should have stopped with 3's and maybe gone to the basket 2 is better than giving the other team the ball back without scoring at all. When he didn't stop, as a coach you should have made him stop by putting his rear on the bench and telling him stop. Then put him back in but make him think about it for a minute.

     

    4.You had a player that scored 16 or so points in the sectional and you didn't even use him in the state, you had one that couldn't even hit the goal from the 3 point mark but still tried. Manassas had 6 players on the floor against 4 of ours. Every time that one player got the ball everyone around my area of the seats said, OHHHHHHHHH, he's gonna shoot a 3 and give it to the other team." Because he didn't hit any.

     

    5. Finally I think that you just got out coached by a coach who knew what they were doing. I think maybe you were okay with just going to state and didn't care if you really won or not or maybe you were afraid of winning. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blink:" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

     

     

     

     

    I am sick and tired of getting on here and reading these posts about my brother. Act like adults instead of hiding behind a fake ID name. Be proud of this bunch of kids instead of putting them down. They have accomplished something that hasn't been done in over 30 years. Yes he and everyone else knows that he didnt shoot the ball well at all Wednesday. So get off his back!!!!

    Did someone forget to tell the boys in white not to show up tonight because they were playing last years state runners-up? great senior leadership from this group of young men. They just refuse to lose. Jared great game tonight. Everyone came in talking about their big kid and left talking about #15 in white. You guys are the example of "Believing" not only in yourself but in each other.     Congratulations to Bradley, Derek, Morgan, Brandon and Matthew. You seniors are about to experience something that you can tell your grand children many years from now. I am proud of each of you for not listening to everyone because remember you guys first of all could not WIN at Trousdale and definately could not beat the UNBEATABLE Bobcats of Pickett Co. Then to beat Westmoreland for the Region Championship. You guys just dont know when to quit and thats what I like about this group of seniors is that they do not have any quit in them. Good luck Monday and remember no one thinks you have a chance just read all the posts. This bunch likes being the underdog. Go out and leave everything you have on the floor and we will see what happens. Rebounding and defense is going to win games from here on out!! Go get em!!

    Same two teams just another season. Last year the roles were reversed. JC came in as the team that had won both regular season match ups and lost to Pickett in Semi-finals of the region. This year Pickett won both regular season match ups. Its very hard to beat a good team three times in one season. Does Pickett have it in them or will the Devils come to play like you guys did tonight at Trousdale? Should be a very physical game. I hope the officials let both teams play. Cant wait til

    Tuesday. What is everyone's thoughts on the match up??

    What a game!! I sure hope everyone that missed this game gets to see both teams in the finals of the state tournament. The last two games have went into OT. What else could you want?? Good luck to both teams. What a great game to watch if you l ike girls basketball at its best.

    I will agree that Smith Co is at the top of the class but will have to disagree with some others. My prediction:

    1. Smith Co

    2. Westmoreland

    3. York

    4. Upperman/Jackson Co

    6. Cannon Co.

     

    Jackson Co will be much improved as they were last season. Winning a couple games last season may get a few more athletes to come out for football. If you look on the basketball court that junior class has lots of talented kids that could help them next season.

    What does everyone think about this one? Can Upperman run the board in 7AA? or Can the improved play of the lady blue devils take a big district win? And prove to everyone that they are again contenders. Should be an exciting game. Its a matchup of Uppermans full court press vs Jackson Co. Half court inside game. If it gets to a half court game jc size difference is key but they have to get the ball down the floor to set up their offense. So what does everyone think?
