  1. The game Friday with Harriman is at 5:30. We are scheduled to play Oliver Springs on Friday, that game will be played at a later date to be determined at a later date.
  2. The game has been rescheduled. It will be played Friday in Harriman at probably 5:00, I will have to get back to you on the time to be for sure.
  3. I think I have an even better question about the game. Will we get to play it tomorrow? How is Harriman's field? Ours is pretty darn wet.
  4. Nope, in the indoor facility next to the field. We practice in there when it rains, we havn't practiced in the gym for a couple of years.
  5. The two top teams in district 4A will meet for the first time this year. Who do you think will come out on top of this one? Who will be the X-factors for each team and what will be the stat of the game? Let's hear everybody's opinions. Just keep 'em clean and try not to get it locked up, yet anyways... lol Go Tigers!
  6. Today's game at Oneida has been rescheduled due to weather. It will be played next Wednesday. Time has not been announced yet. Now we get a good day of practice before we travel to Harriman tomorrow.
  7. Right now, there is no place to get our stats. Mr. Reed said that this weekend he was going to try to get everybody's stats done this weekend and have them for us soon. He will probably put them on ihigh when he gets them done. He did tell me this weekend that our team batting average was .315 Of course this was before the championship game (we only had about 3 or 4 hits that game). Hopefully, he will have those stats for all to see before long.
  8. With those 4, I don't think we really have a true 1,2,3, or 4. Any one of them can step up and be the man. On any given day, any one of them could be legitemately called the ace. Instead of the rest of the team being glad when a certain guy pitches, we are just as enthusiastic/confident when any of the rest of our guys is on the hill.
  9. Rockwood goes to Oneida on Monday. Was their new shortstop there when we played them the first time this year? Just curious. Thanx.
  10. Rockwood loses to Boyd Buchanon 3-1. Dan Chandler pitched the complete game. He did a great job only giving up 3 or 4 hits the entire day. Bad thing is 2 of those hits were dingers. He hit his spots well and the only few times he missed, Boyd's hitters were ready to hit. Our hitting went a little cold today, Boyd's pitcher his spots well and changed speeds effectively. E.T. McCreary, Andy Willis, and Josh Clark made the All-Tournament team. Great tournament with 6 great teams. Lookout Valley did a great job as usual as host, Coach Dinger did an excellent job running the tournament. Go Tigers!
  11. Rockwood's 3 players on the All-Tounry team was: E.T. McCreary, Andy Willis, and Josh Clark. Our pitcher (Dan Chandler, the stocky lefty) did pitch yesterday, but he only came in to close. He missed location on about 4 or 5 balls the whole game, and Boyd's hitters were ready for those misses. I think he only gave up 4 hits the entire game. Pretty good job considering he didn't pick up a baseball from his freshman year until this past January (he is a junior). Rockwood had a pretty good tourny this past weekend. Our hitting just went cold in the last game, BBS pitcher did a good job of hitting his spots.
  12. unclejed, you're right Coach Lane does decide that. I was just going to let him know my opinion on where he might fit in next year. Because of the lack of resources, the players kinda know where they fit in position wise, but they don't know when they might get to play and I was going to give my opinion as to what Coach Lane would do with him. I'm out...
  13. Wartburg has a solid team. They have some good hitters, but they drop off after about the 5 hole. If they can get solid performances throughout the entire lineup, I think they have a good chance at making it to region. I think that whichever team gets the first round bye in the district tournament will definately make it to the region and the next spot WILL be between the remaining two teams out of the top three (Rockwood, Harriman, Wartburg).
  14. This year, we will lose 6 seniors: Robert Gilmore, Seth Robinson, Critter Beeson , Josh Clark, Brian Reed, and myself, E.T. McCreary. Robert is arguably our ace and a great hitter/first baseman. He has started since he was a freshman. Seth is a consistent pitcher, ace or number 2 on every outing, great outfielder with hose and pretty good hitter as well. Seth also saw starting time as a freshman. Critter has started since his sophomore year. He has great footspeed and a good bat. When he is hot, he is one of the best hitters around. Josh started some last year and is seeing action in almost every game so far this year. He has great footspeed and is excellenct in the field with a pretty good arm. Brian started as a freshman as well. He is a very good lefthanded pitcher and outfielder. I have started every game since I was a freshman. We lose A LOT of experience, but don't fret. The same thing happened when I was in 8th grade. We had just graduated a big class with most of the experience. Come freshman year, we did our best and just happened to get playing time and we made the most of it and stepped up enough to make it to state with only 3 seniors on the team that year. This year's 8th grade class is supposed to have a lot of good baseball players. Hopefully, they can battle for playing time and make everybody around them better because everyone will have to work that much harder to get playing time. As much as I would like to talk on the subject, I am going to get back to this season to get ready for the rest of the games this year. Go Tigers!
  15. I knew as soon as you mentioned Coach Ross. You will have your work cut out for you next year because Marcus ain't bad. He needs to get his head in the game first. I won't get into details because you're not on the team this year, although, he knows what I'm talking about. For a freshman, he is a pretty good hitter (although, I think I could strike him out on 3 pitches lol). If you keep working with Coach Ross on your catching you will get playing time next year because Marcus, in my opinion, won't be ready to catch all of the games and be the man as a sophomore. This summer, if you wanna do some long tossing gimme a holler.
  16. Hey thekid, who are you? I know most of the 8th graders this year that will be trying out next yr. Depending on who you are I can possibly give you a more detailed explanation on where you might fit in next year. E.T. 99
  17. disgustedfan, I hope you are right in saying that maybe this was our really bad game for the year.
  18. bizazz, the 20-1 games don't prepare us for anything. You are right in saying that we can't do anything about the district part of our schedule. If we knew a way around having to play some games, I'm sure we would take advantage of it. I think us being on spring break this week might have contributed to last night's major letdown as well. The closer games are good for the postseason. Last time we played Cookeville, we had them beat until the last inning and we made some mistakes and they scored enough to take the lead late in the game and beat us. Last night, we looked like a A school playing a AAA school. Normally, we do compete against bigger schools. But, as I said before, last night we didn't look like a Rockwood team. thekid03, no freshmen start this year. None see regular Varsity playing time aside from when we are in games that we are WAY ahead of the other team and we sub in the entire JV squad. Next year, we will lose a lot of starters (6 seniors) and starting positions and playing time will be up for the taking.
  19. Rockwood-1 Cookeville-12 Rockwood did not show up to play today. We came without our heads (as well as jerseys and gear, lol). Robert Gilmore did not have his best stuff today, he was having trouble hitting spots and getting movement on his pitches. Dan Chandler came in the 4th inning to relieve Gilmore and did an excellent job. He is looking really good off the mound right now. We had WAY too many errors as well. The Cavs' pitcher was worthy of being an ace. He pitched a heck of a game. From the sidearm angle he was very deceptive. We did not hit the ball at all. I think games like this happen when we are forced to see teams like yesterday, and then be expected to be ready for teams like today. It's a tough feat to accomplish, and today we did not get it done, we did not adjust at all. Cookeville has a great team and good luck to them. Tomorrow, at Webb, JV game at 3:30. Hopefully, Thursday's practice will get us back ready for this weekend's tournament at Lookout Valley. Go Tigers!
  20. Rockwood traveled to Oakdale tonight. Score: Tigers 20 Oakdale 0 Corey Payne threw his second 1-hitter of the year. Andy Willis hit one out tonight. Tomorrow, Rockwood travels to Cookeville. Should be a really good game. We just need to re-adjust our eyes and bats after tonight to be ready for the Cavs.
  21. I do not know exactly what the rule states, but as a high school catcher I personally do not like the rule that states a runner cannot truck a catcher. The catcher is not supposed to be able to block off the plate unless he has, or is receiving the baseball. I think/feel that the runner has all the right in the world to plow right through any catcher (or position player for that matter) who is blocking a bag without the ball. I don't know exactly how I feel about ejections because it is always on a case to case basis. Well, there's my two cents. I'll turn it back over to y'all.
  22. baseballfanatic, you're right it was a great game. Good luck to Unaka the rest of the season and hopefully we will meet in Memphis. Hope the Unaka players/coaches/parents/fans that stay tonight have fun in the booming metropolis of "Rock-vegas". lol Have a safe trip back and good luck this year. Go Tigers!
  23. Rockwood comes away with a W 11-5. Good game to see. Randy Swearingin (spelling?) started for Unaka and left early with back problems (spasms?). I hope he gets healty soon. Tee Blevins came in to relieve him and finished the game. He did a good job. Seth Robinson started for Rockwood and Dan Chandler came in to shut the door. Robinson ran into trouble from the beginning. Unaka scored 3 in the first. After that, Seth settled down and got into a groove. In the 6th inning, pitch count rising, Robinson was relieved by Chandler who quickly got out of the jam and worked a very good 7th to pick up the save. Both teams had a couple of defensive miscues. Unaka is a very good team and should go far into the postseason. Good luck to them. Unaka, welcome to Rockwood. Hope the ride down was good. Is the whole team staying tonight or just the JV? All of you are good guys on and off the field. Hope your stay is enjoyable and/or fun. Go Tigers!
  24. The game is still on. We have good weather right now, a little chilly not. It will get pretty cold tonight, but nothing some hot hands and under armour can't fix. Should be a great game. See ya there... Go Tigers!
  25. starman, Rockwood will not tip our hand as to what they could see in a postseason matchup. Neither team will throw their number one more than likely. It all depends on which teams hits the ball. See ya there.
