  1. Smryna scored 8 runs in the first two innings. Jon Patterson came in and gave up one unearned run in five innings. Jonathon Keck hit two home runs, including one that was one of the longest home runs I have seen hit. Both umpires made the comment that it was the longest they could ever remember being hit at that park.

  2. I haven't seen this team play this year but they should be excited about their new coach, Brandon Bassham. Brandon is the son of long time Mt. Pleasant head coach Eddie Bassham. Brandon is a tremendous baseball mind and first class person. Give him time and he will really help improve that program.

  3. Of all the assistant coaches that I have had dealings with I would have to say Coach Bassham is one of the finest. He played and learned from his dad at Mt. Pleasant, who is an outstanding coach. Brandon is truly one of the better young coaches in the mid-state area. You put him in the right situation and he would help build a program into a winner. As for MTCS, they have no business playing in Division II. Put them in a single a district and they would compete. They seem to overacheive even though they are playing teams with much more talent.

  4. I believe its time to give Coach Bassham an opportunity to lead Mt. Pleasant football back to prominence. He has remained loyal to his hometown school and community for years when he has had many opportunities to move on to other positions. He has a great appreciation for the history and tradition of Mt. Pleasant football.

Coach Bassham has done an outstanding job being the head man in baseball for years. His teams are constantly the most prepared in the middle state area. You know when you play Mt. Pleasant that you are going to play a team that is well disciplined and plays the game hard.

For years and years, Coach Bassham lead the Mt. Pleasant defense. During his tenure, you knew that defensively you were in for a challenge when you faced a Coach Bassham defense. I now hope that he now gets the opportunity to be the head of a school he so dearly loves.
