The Schedule for Oakland lists a 89-87 victory over Lebanon on January 17. That game was never played (snow) and is re-scheduled for the week of February 17.

Oakland is playing very well right now and will be difficult to beat. They have two main offensive threats (Duggin and Barker) but Murray and Harb are also capable of a big offensive outburst. And with Watson back at the point theyare playing well as a team. I am sure Riverdale will be primed and ready and should put up a good fight.

Final score 79-34. A blowout. It was 58-24 after 3 quarters when Blackman conceded and put in their JV. Oakland had a very balanced scoring attack with Ro Murray 13, Joe Barker 11, Derrick Duggin 11, Shane Harb 10 and Nick Watson 9. Oakland is a very good team when they play their game.

Isaiah Phillips is injured and will not play.

Blackman has four key players to watch: David Price, Nathan Stephens, Will Redding and Kris Lee. Redding is their main low post threat. He is not very tall but very strong and explosive around the basket. Price and Stephens are their main outside threats. If Price is motivated he can be very difficult to stop. Oakland also has four key players to watch. Derrick Duggin and Joe Barker are their leading scorers (Duggin 17.1 / Barker 16.3) with Duggin being one of the best low post players around and Barker, who is shooting over 50% on three pointers, one of the best outside shooters. If they are both on their game Oakland is very difficult to beat. The other two players are guard Ro Murray and wing Shane Harb. It should be a very good game but I anticipate Oakland winning.

Oakland defeated White County tonite 68-41. Derrick Duggin had 18 and Joe Barker 14. With Harb, Murray and Barker all sick, Oakland was very sluggish the first half and trailed 24 -19. But they outscored White Co 49-17 the second half for the victory. Oakland is now 5-0 in 7AAA with three tough games upcoming against Warren Co (away), Blackman (home) and Riverdale (away).

no offense to the Cookeville players, but they just sit around and watch Burnett score. Mario is a great player but doesn't get any help!

Oakland defeated Cookeville tonight by a score of 76 - 59. Derrick Duggin lead Oakland with 20, Ro Murray had 19 and Joe Barker had 18 with 7 rebounds. Cookeville was lead by Mario Burnett who had 34 - an amazing 58% of Cookeville's total points. Oakland was up 21 at the start of the third quarter and played their JV the last few minutes. Oakland is 11-2 so far this year and ranked #1 in the Mid-State by the Tennessean. They are coming off a 13 day layoff and so they may be a little sluggish at the start. I expect a hard fought game.

I agree with everything you said about Ro. But he thinks like a 2 guard and not like a point guard. When Nick Watson returns Ro's game will elevate because he can concentrate on penetrating and scoring.

Oakland defeats Father Ryan on a three-pointer by Joe Barker at the buzzer. Final score was 68-66. Oakland was lead by Joe Barker with 19, Derrick Duggin with 14 and Matt Joines with 9. Father Ryan played a very aggressive defense and tried to exploit Oakland's weakness at the point (point guard Nick Watson is out till 1/17). There could be a rematch at the Father Ryan Christmas Tournement next week.

I expect a very close, well played game. Oakland has defeated four good teams in their last four games (Warren CO, Blackman, Riverdale, Bradley Central) and they are playing very well as a team right now. They will be hard to beat. [Edited by Radar on 12-20-02 3:13P]

Who is participating in this years tournament?

Oakland played real well in this game and is beginning to work together as a team. The loss of Nick Watson has hurt them but he should be back after Christmas. Ro Murray has done an admirable job at the point in Watson's absence but he is a natural 2 guard and the team will prosper when he can play that position.
