  1. Fan2, the coach is in a no win situation. Would not want that job for no amount of money. Look for West Carroll to win the district hands down now with maybe Bruceton coming in second, and if their lucky, maybe Huntingdon coming in third. Since you emphasized "MAYBE SOON" fan2, can we assume that you have heard something?

  2. Stick a fork in them, their done. With the football team winning the state title, people can forget basketball at Huntingdon. With the little support thats been given there in the past, expect even less now. Don't be surprised now to see some of ones that played football now decide not to play basketball. From a win stand point that would be terrible, but from the stand point of some maybe not playing hard or caring if they might win or lose, then some not playing would be best. Expect them to take some beatings due to lack of practice and focus.

  3. Breatkout players in West Tn...

JoJuan Walker, 6'2 2G, Bolivar...JoJuan is the next talented guard in the Bolivar system to really emerge as a senior, aka Wiley and Bouregard. Walker is athletic, heady, and has good size...

Leslie Delk, 6'2 2G, Haywood Co...after averaging 11 ppg last season, Delk will inherit many of the shots that Rayco Currie had. There may not be a better pure shooter in the state than Delk, and Tony's nephew is ready to make some big noise this winter...

Michael McCutchen, 6'5 2G, Chester Co...it's wierd having to put someone on this list who averaged 17 ppg last year, but no one knows about McCutchen, who made drastic improvements throughout the summer to become a D-1 prospect. McCutchen has great size at guard, and can really shoot the lights out...

Courtney Jones, 6'5 WF, Dyer Co...Courtney was a role player last year to Crittendon and Fisk (who wouldn't be), but this young junior is ready to carry the Choctaws on his back. In one game this summer, Courtney finished by hitting 11 of his last 13 shots en route to a 30 point explosion, and similar games this winter aren't far away...

Henry Adkisson, 6'2 2G, Milan...Adkisson is as underrated as any player in the state. The kid can really play, but absolutely no one knows about him. He has good size and athleticism, and can play the 1 or 2. Adkisson will make his name known this winter as the go to guy for Milan...

Xavier Webb, 6'8 WF, West Caroll...Webb had a very good sophomore campaign at West Carroll, but look for him to take his game to the next level this winter and establish himself as a Mr. Basketball candidate this year, and favorite next. Webb is 6'8 with long arms, and has good perimeter skills as well. Webb is a true future star...

Tristan Bell, 6'0 2G, Jackson Centra-Merry...Bell will now inherit the "go-to" label after the graduation of Bobo and Gore, and should flourish. Bell is a sweet shooting guard who I saw hit 7 threes in a game last year. With more touches, Bell could really break out this season...

Melvin Smith, 6'3 2G, Covington...Smith may end up being the #1 breakout player of the entire state this year, not just West TN, though he will likely be only the second option on a Covington team that features 6'6 Donnell Mayben. Smith is strong, athletic, can shoot, and run all three guard spots. Smith has come out of nowhere to become a D-1 prospect...

Unless Webb has improved a great deal and has gotten in the weight room, there is no way he is Mr. Basketball material. Last year vs teams that were ANY good he did not do a whole lot. He got pushed around too much by other players. That might explain why he shoots more from outside than he does from the post position. Height is not everything. Some said last year his idea of lifting weights was watching everybody else do it. Maybe he has improved over the summer and gotten stronger. We shall see in a few days.

  4. How good West Carroll is will depend on their guard play and finding someone to score besides Webb and John Taylor. They also only have one or maybe two guys off the bench. If they can get these things then they might give Huntingdon problems, which is loaded. From what I hear, they have their top three scorers back in Hillsman, Bell, and Thomas who all averaged in double figures last year. They also have Donald who should also add double figures in scoring and rebounding plus a strong bench of four to five guys. After getting beat by Huntingdon three time last year, look for West Carroll to try to turn up the heat on the Mustangs.

  5. Mack Gardner is the best point guard in this district and one of the best in all of west tn in handling the ball. I rank them as follows 1.Lexington 2.Camden 3.Milan 4.Mckenzie 5.Riverside Camden might be a surprise if they have good guard play.

  6. While I will agree that Trenton has a good team returning, to compare them to those Bradford teams of the 90's(5 or 6 state titles? I forget. 3 titles in a row with Miss Tuggles I do know for a fact) is no comparison. If they can do what Bradford has done over the course of several years, then there might be a need to compare. But until then, not one. Trenton should be favored to return to state again. Good luck.

  7. WC & dunker54, what's your beef with Glissen? Did you not get to play for him or what? He's gone now just like a lot of people wnated. so why do you come on here and keep hatin on him? I know he made some mistakes but you are foolish if you don't think he had some help getting pushed out the door. Somebody called and turned him in for practicing while he was suppose to be suspended. I wonder who? there was a post on here before saying to look at the person who has gained the most through all of this. Maybe that was the truth. There is one person who gained a lot through all of this mess.

But anyways ya'll need to lay off of Glissen. The man has resigned and is moving on and i think everyone else should also.

Any hints on who the person is that "gained" from all of this?

  8. Some schools without a doubt does not this problem. Look at the schools that win the state or make it to the state year after year. Those are the teams that have a team of nothing but basketball players a lot more often than not with some of those not having football programs at all. Some that come to mind are Perry Co. and Pickett Co. Perry Co. recently started football and not sure about Pickett Co. Looks like the t$$aa could develop a plan to have about a two to three week gap from the time of the football state championships to the start of the first regular season games in basketball. I know, that is too logical, unless it would be a way for them to make a few extra dollars.

  9. Because so many schools have kids that play both basketball and football, how many teams across the state are currently having to wait for football to end before they can get started with basketball? The t$$aa should finally do something about the over lap. Keep in mind that it is not just the boys, but the girls that have to wait as well, except that at least they get to practice.
