  1. Ravenwood earned my respect. Going to Whitehaven and winning is a big deal. That proves they have a good defense with enough offense to give Maryville a good game. More importantly a fact most are not seeing is they believe they are going to win. So I expect a hard hitting game with both teams making adjustments. If Maryville establishes the running game to go with the passing game they should pull it out in the end. If Ravenwood can contain the running game this game will be much closer than most think. Looking forward to a well played game. Go REBELS

  2. I think if you asked the fans and players of Alcoa they would love to move up in classification. They are simply much better than the 3A teams they have to play. It means a lot of boring games for the fans and lack of a challenge for the players. Imagine Alcoa playing 5a ball they are more likely going to get a better game. I would think they still make deep playoff runs and even win championships. Unfortunately the opposite is about to happen   Alcoa is going to be 2a. seriously who wants to see this..

  3. I have a question I really want an answer to. Rankin says its a 6A school playing a 3A and it showed because we ask a lot of our kids to playing both ways and Maryville doesn't. How can you make that statement when you dress almost 100 kids? Seems to me he made that choice to force your kids to play both ways. You have talent on that bench and yet he chooses not to use it. Alcoa is a 5a football talent they dress more than most 5/6a schools..I never had understood Rankin's coaching when it comes to this

  4. Maryville is playing well at the moment. However they have not been tested in some time. The starters have not played a complete game. Blackman will come to play. Anyone expecting this to be a blow out does not know football. They just beat a very good Oakland team, and honestly probably played better competition. I an sure both teams will come in with a game plan. The team that executes theirs the best will win the game. I know I am looking forward to a packed house with the state championship game on the line. Go Rebels

  5. Well first and foremost congratulations to Maryville. This was the first time I've seen Maryville play and I was impressed. I truly believe Meadows was missed in this game. Robinette not playing for Maryville is the equal to meadows not playing for Smyrna. I hated that penalty being called on the 4th down. Momentum had changed hands and Smyrna was driving and that was a ridiculous call. It had no bearing on the play and the ref had already been too involved in the game up to that point. He was calling motion before the guys were even set. Just a shame he called it at that particular time. I know one bad call shouldn't cost you a game, but IMO it certainly changed the game. There were other factors on both sides that contributed to the game. Just didn't like the call and Smyrna seemed to be shell shocked when they came out for that field goal.

I'd also like to give a shout out to #45. He is a special RB.

Once again congratulations Maryville on a well deserved win.

I suppose the right gaurd moving just before the snap had no bearing on the play. Wait didn't the play go the same direction?

  6. Wow all this talk about open zone. The last time I checked there's nothing wrong with that in our county. Our administrators in this county don't want to limit our kids on where they can go to school. That's why the private schools have grown so much in this state in the last 20 years. Parents want their kids to get a good education. Alcoa offers that and they have an awesome football tradition.

As for this game, Milan is in deep trouble if they had problems with York in the first half. Alcoa's going to pound the rock on the Bulldogs and there's nothing they can do about it. This game will be close for a half and then Alcoa will put it away in the second. I expect the F5 to touchdown about 4-6 times on friday. Milan will be fortunate to put up more than 14 points. Of course this is just my opinion and we will have to wait until friday to find out. GO TORNADOES !!

Come on.... R U serious! It was 43-15. Does it look like they had any trouble with YORK. I mean you guys beat Elizabethton by less than we beat York. Must mean ya'll are in big trouble!! :thumb:

Lets be honest about it. Everybody saw the game last year. Neither team turns the ball over alot. Both teams love to pound the rock. It will not be a high scoring game. I'm not saying milan will win and I'm not saying Alcoa will win. But didn't Toney play running back last year. Didn't Avery have 22 tackles last year. Mostly the same cast of characters back this year.

Anybody who thinks this game is going to be a blow out either way is an idiot!

I say Alcoa by 28.. is that a blow out?

  7. Farragut lost. Sorry.

I'm laughing at this epic meltdown. Don't think I've ever seen one as bad on this board (WB '07 maybe).

Laugh away. It still doesn't change the fact that the Ref Rebels had to have the refs cheat in order to win. It doesn't matter what you or any Ref Rebel fan has to say. The cheating still occurred and you couldn't win without it. That's the bottom line.

Was you even at the game? Shut up and ask why you threw the ball on First down. That is why you lost. If you had kept the ball on the ground might have been a different game.

  8. I will go with Bearden, for I do not think that Maryville is ready for Big Time 6A football yet.

That statement is a BIG Misunderstanding of football. For Some reason people seem to think the school size is all that matters. If that was the case Should West Knoxville not have a lot of 5A Rings? I would say Alcoa who is a 3A team could spot any Knoxville Team 21 points and win going away. Coaching, practice, Skill, execution and the want to is what makes a Championship team! IF you look at 5A Football over the last 10 years 4a always had the best TOP 10 followed by 3A. Time will tell how Maryville does in 6a, AS long as GQ is there I would think they will do just fine. As for this game. Maryville wins by 17, and it will be done in the second half by a team that you feel is not ready for BIG TIME 6A Football.

  9. Congrats on you win Last night Rhea Co. Many have wanted to see Maryville travel to Rhea Co to play. Trust this the Maryville Fans will be there in FORCE. You are gonna have a packed house. I am confident Coach will have his young men ready play. I enjoyed the physical play Maryville showed last night. Our young QB has grown up and is playing very well. It helps when you have to stop 3 parts of the offense. The running game, the passing game, and the qb option. That puts a lot of pressure on the defense! Speaking of defense Maryville showed to play d last night, they continue that style of play it will be dificult for any offense to score on them. Rhea Co has had a great season and I am sure they well prepare all week for this game. They believe in thier team and have a lot of confidence. The win last night helps to build on that.

    Maryville 38

    Rhea Co 13

  10. It was a hard fought win. But lets not forget that 9-7 3rd qtr score was with the starting qb sitting on the sidelines with a big time headache. Congrats on West's win over Red Bank. I am sure this will be a physical game. West always plays Maryville like it is the superbowl. Can't be turning the ball over like we did this week.

  11. You can obtain a copy of the game by contact Debbie West at Alcoa City Schools. The # is 865 984 7998. You can buy DVD for $10, or if you are stuck in 1982, VHS for $5.

About the game, For Alcoa to make the mistakes that they made and still have a chance to score for a tie is nothing short of amazing. A lot of kids played and got their first "big game experience" and man o man, will it pay dividends down the road.

Maryville is the best team in the state, period. (especially after Ravenwood Jobbed BA last night /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> )

Kudos to the officiating crew as well. I thought they stayed out of the way just enough for all of us to enjoy the game.

I would have posted last night, but honest to GOD, I couldn't even eat my post game dinner I was so worn out.

For those that know me, that is hard to believe.

Man, I feel sorry for White House.

I agree I could not eat either. I agree the officiating was not a part of the game. For the most part they let the players settle it on the field. I agree White House is in BIG TROUBLE! Both teams played hard, both teams had mistakes. For such a High pressure big game early was a exciting game all the to the end. Both teams will have a great season.
