This is no cake walk schedule, but I believe we will have fun and learn alot as a family.  The boys are excited due to the strength of our scheduling.  4 power house teams, and 4 heated rivals, looks to be an exciting year in Viking country. thumb

Which 4 do you see as powerhouses?

You know most all of us know that we're not perfect but we turn around and think that others should be. I thank our coaches and players for another great year. I wasn't ready for it to end anymore than any of you but it's over and we have to get things on track for next year. Go Panthers

  4. How do you get that it should have been 0-0?  I agree that if the results has been reversed...we would have been upset.  We were penalized more than you were for more yards...also at critical times.  It did happen to us last year.  There was a phantom holding penalty and a no touchdown call that would have won the game.  Did you see any of our coaches or players doing any of that stuff I saw Friday?  I was totally shocked.  What's going on up there?

One thing is for sure.  There are high school refs.  They will make mistakes.  Some hurt more than others.  It's how you overcome and deal with those mistakes that makes the difference.

    825408992

Well you had 3rd and long and the kid made a great play to block the pass. Then he's back on the Portland side of the ball waving his hands and the ref throws a celabration flag and gives you a 1st down instead of 4th and long and thats the drive you score on. Kinda looks like it should have been our ball going the other way, but we'll never know what would have happened. That was the worst call I have every seen, it's bad when the ref takes the fun out of the game for the players. The rule is for taunting and this was in know way taunting. Both teams had been doing the same thing all game and he only made the one critical call on it. Like I said you won and congrat to you, this is just my thoughts on the game.

    Sorry about the bad spelling

  5. For everyone who wasn't at the Smith County/Portland game, here are the facts of the game!

Officiating was absolutely horrible!  There were just as many "no calls" as there were penalties (SC - 8 penalties, PHS - 7).  They couldn't even start and stop the clock correctly.  I was informed after the game from a reliable source that the two linesman had limited experience, pretty big game for rookie officials.  Offenses did play somewhat sloppy with SC having three turnovers and Portland having two.  Both teams killed drives with stupid penalties!  But, but, both defenses did play exceptionally well!  Portland had a goalline stand with 4th and inches in the first half, and SC held Portland when it counted late in 4th on 1st and goal from the 8.  The most important!  Portland is the most unsportsmanlike program that I have seen in all my life.  The little act that Perry put on when the white hat waved off the flag was quite hilarious and after the game when him and his INNAPROPRIATE son for a coach, resorted to accusing SC has having their chosen officiating crew.  "Heard it with my own two ears."  What would have to be a little more embarrasing for Portland players, coaches, and supporters, was when the law had to seperate two coaches from each other before they fought.  It happened to be two Portland coaches against one another.  Now you should know Roger and Trey, you have to be good losers before you can be great winners.  The bad thing is Coach Perry has always had respect from alot of people, I just wonder how?  Well the game was great and so should the round two playoff game if both teams should win.  I can't wait to hear all the whinning for the next two weeks!  Congratulations Owls!

    Please...no name calling...

    825408872

Congrats to the OWLS. If the shoe had been on the other foot you would have been just as upset as Portland was. I've been a fighter all my life and I know it takes two to have a fight. I saw the older coaches from both sides keeping the peace. This game should have been 0-0 and settled in overtime but it wasn't so lets just play the second season and pray for peace on the field and off.

  6. dont act like that was nothing.......that field goal was not missed b/c of the kicker that was a block...............the name says it all we are on air at la..........3 times in a row...........now for a sc loss and we will roll through as the region champions like we should be anyways the sc game was gave away.......H-O-G-E-Y-E............  NOW ITS TIME FOR ME TO START BLOWING THAT HORN.............ROLL ON BIG BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    825383724

Great game!!! enjoy it, you earned it. Maybe we will do it again later on. You guy's have a very good team. It's fun watching 2 fine teams give their best. I hope none of the injuries are too serious, yours or ours.

  7. Hey, just a question to my fellow Portland fans, is Garrett going to be playing Friday night.  I noticed him in jeans on the sideline last Friday night and I was just wondering.  Are we pretty healthy for this game?  I know we need to be because Livingston will be gunning for us, but I think that the Ptown Panthers will get revenge this week.  If we are healthy, then I think we win by 2 scores.  Go Panthers!

    825380161

It's getting late into the season and most teams have some bumps and brusies. Come Friday night you will know who is hurt or who is just playing in some pain. Both teams will have the best available team on the field this one has some real meaning. Best of luck to both teams and may the best team win.

  8. You didn't contain him too well last year as he had over 200 yards in both games.

What makes you think you will this year?  Just curious...what has changed?  I really didn't think Portland looked any better than last year.  They are a good team...but a team that could easily lose a couple of region games.  I think that is true of everybody else in the region too.

    825338194

Wilmore is as good as any back we will face in our region. Just an opinion from what I saw of him last year and he has been doing it again this year. You have to be able to tackle him to beat them.

  9. Portland has a good of a chance as anyone.  I think the region is still wide open.  It will just depend on who plays well each night.  I think TC is still in the hunt.  I still can't believe they could make that many mistakes.  In all likelyhood it will come down to week 10.

    825336513

That is what I think although LA and York will usually play extra hard against us.

  10. Portland looked a lot better than Trousdale.  They have a lot of speed.  They will be tough to beat.

    825335985

I have to agree some what with you Antwan it wasn't the best that we can play or will play. We have some problems to address and I'm sure coach Perry and his staff will take care of that. We have to get rid of the mental errors to be the team to win the region.

  11. Well, I refer back to my quote earlier this week. This goes out to Stifler. "Portland rolls into the Creekbank and rolls out with a 34-13 win." Pretty darn close I must admit. WAY TO GO PTOWN. Gotta love it there Creek fans. Enjoy your weekend licking your wounds

    825335961

Great pick PPfan you hit it right on this week. The defense bent but didn't break, they stepped up big time.

  12. "phsfan2003.....Portland has always had a run-oriented offense and yes, we did pass more than usual against WH. It was very ineffective as you know. We can pass, and if it is working it does make us more dangerous on offense."

"IF IT IS WORKING" IS A BIG IF IN OUR CASE. I AGREE IF YOU SPRINKLE A PASS HERE AND THERE IT HELPS, BUT GOING TO THE SHOT GUN IS NOT WHAT HAS MADE US GOOD IN THE PAST, I DONT KNOW IF WE HAVE SOMEONE DIFFERENT CALLING THE PLAYS OR WHAT. I JUST HOPE FOR A WIN TONIGHT. GO PANTHERS

    825335083

We have a good qb and our coaches know that. We used the pass in all our pre season scrimmages and it work for us. An offense is at its best when you use everything you have in your arsenal. My son was a qb and I know that he had good games and some not so good but you don't give up on them. We may have passes incomplete and intercepted but it's no different than a team that runs all the time and fumbles every now and then. Let's hope we have the whole deal working tonight.

  13. It's FRIDAY!!! Good luck to both teams tonight. I will see you there!!!  thumb

    ;)

    825334833

Have a safe trip, pride, Win or lose I just hope we play to the best of our ability and no one on either team gets hurt. It should be a good one.

  14. Our prayers are with this young lady and her family. May God comfort them in this time of need.

    825300882

I here she is making good progress. THEIR IS POWER IN PRAYER. It good to see the responce she is getting from all over the state. thumb

  15. I've made it to a couple of Portland's practices this week and they seem to be preparing very well. I think they are going to be ready this week. I like Portland by 7. The defense will have to step up another notch though. This game is one of the hardest to predict because the Jackets will always play well against Portland.

How are the sketers down on the creek should a man bring some off ?

  16. I don't know much about the game...but I thought about starting a thread last week that said: Has Portland lost any stock after the pounding they took by White House?  The same White House team we scrimmaged that you started a similar thread about us.  I guess your stock rose a little bit after last night.  :D

    825327217

That's why I ask the question. I am smart enough to know that Portland stock went down sharply with the WH game. I was just hoping that the stock market is on a roll now. We will just have to wait an see how hi the stock will rise.

  17. Portland looks like a different team, they run it the first 3 plays of the game vs White House and score, and then go to the pass. I do not remember seeing us pass this many times in a whole season.  I think we have forgotten what made us good. What made us good is the wing T. It will be tough for us to win at Macon.

    825319428

I think we are better than we played Friday night. We will rebound and win this one. I think WH has an outstanding team and will go deep in the playoffs this year if they stay injury free.

  18. As far as I know, yeah. Better get there early Friday morning to get a seat, though.  :(  ;)  I'll be in my usual spot close to that dreaded train whistle everybody hates to hear.

    :)

(I love the sound of that whistle.)

    825314373

It kinda grows on you don't it Pride. I've been down there for years.

  19. NorthEast tied Columbia on Sat.  but does anyone know if both teams looked good or bad.

Heard Kenwood beat up on Spring Hill and from what I heard the Knights are impressive.

Montgomery Central and Rossview Varsity tied but Central is vastly improving.

NorthWest beat Maplewood, but heard both teams looked sloopy.

Clarksville High tied 1-1 in games against Portland, but Lincoln Co.  put it to the Wildcats.

Fort Campbell spanked Sycamore pretty good from a source I know.

If anyone saw one of these games can you share your knowledge with us on what happened and who looked good in the scrimmage.  Scrimmages I heard were this week:

        NorthWest Vs. McGavock

        Sycamore Vs.  Clarksville High

        Kenwood Vs.  ?  on Saturday

        NorthEast Vs.  ?

        Rossview  Vs.  ?

        Montgomery Central Vs. Fort Campbell

If you have any information on these scrimmages please share with us.

I saw the Clarksville- Portland match up at Nacome but I must have missed something. I thought it was 2 -0 Portland with the 1s.
