  1. I watched the Dateline show and I was very impressed with what I saw. I watch it with my daughter and she said that all the stuff she has heard about Coach Insell being a hard coach was true however she was touch by the personal side of his coaching and how the girls played hard for him. As a father who has seen alot of different styles of coaching all I can say is that if this is a true picture of how Coach Insell takes care of the young ladies on his team then I have a different respect for the man in a possitive way. I think that as a coach you can be very demanding as long as the players truely know that you care about them personally as individuals not just as basketball players. Great show in my opinion on the state of ladies basketball in Tennessee as well as a inside look at what coaches go through off the court.

  4. I agree that a shot clock should be used in high school however the issue will be having someone that knows how to run it correctly. The solution would be to have a official do it but this will never fly because the schools would have to pay for it.

  5. This is a very interesting topic and I dont really have a dog in the fight. However I do have a observation, based on what I saw yesterday I think that if the TTP 16u played the TN Stars 16u 10 times the TTP would win 7 out of the ten. I know that the Stars had players not playing but I think that they would only help in certain situations. My observation is that the TTP has the advantage when it comes to the inside game (post) and I think that is what wins games in girls AAU basketball. Now the issue of Cait vs other players. Cait McMahan is the best 16u guard in this state hands down. All you have to do is watch her and understand why she is getting all of the attention. SHE HAS IT ALL PERIOD!!! She is just not on the best 16U girls team in the state this year that goes to the Tennessee Team Pride.

  6. I saw some great young ladies play this weekend in Cookeville. I think that the Sportshop has the best team that they have had in a few years. The addition of KeKe Steward and the point guard from Ky has made this team the best in the state this year. The Tigers Select and the Team Pride are also good teams. TN Elite are short on the post players but if they can pick up post players for the nationals they should do okay. I did not get to see the Memphis Waves. But the best team by far in my opinion (15U) has to be the Sportshop. 1-13 players on this team could play at the next level. Good luck to all the teams make the state of Tennessee proud.

  7. Here are the best Freshman players that I have seen this year. All of these girls played with the Varsity.

    Cait McMahan- Heritage HS

    Keke Steward- Oak Ridge HS

    Jazmine Wright- Carter HS

Sarah Hemelrich (I think this is her name) - Bearden HS

    Katie Jennings- Meigs Co. HS

There also is a young lady from Campbell Co. HS that is a Freshman but I dont remember her name. (Sorry)

  8. All I have to say is that AE is at the big dance. There are alot of other teams that would like to have the opportunity to play in their spot but they will be at home watching. Even if AE loses in the first round it really does'nt matter they are playing in the state tournament and the other teams in their district/region are at home. (Seymour being the exception) The one thing that I have learned in sports is that upsets do happen thats why they play the game and keep score. I know that it will be a monumental upset if AE were to upset JC. But I seen stranger things happen. THE BOTTOM LINE: AE LADY ROADRUNNERS ARE AT THE STATE!!!! Let the teams play and as fans we will cheer and have fun wathing. Good Luck to all of the State tournament teams. You are the best!!!!

  9. The Lady Roadrunners won their substate game tonight by 10 over the Lady Cyclones of Elizabethen. It was close all the way untill late in the fourth quarter Ida Sammons hits a big three to put the Roadrunners ahead for good. AE did not play as well as they have played in the past few games but they had enough talent to win.

    Good Luck in the state.

  10. The top freshmen that are around Knoxville:

Kait McMahan is the best that I have seen in a while, she has it all. Others are Keke Steward(Oak Ridge), Natalie Monday (Farragut),Jazmine Wright (Carter), T, Marsh(AE) I have not been able to see Angie Wells this year but I saw her last year and I would love to see who is holding her down at Cleveland they must be outstanding players if Angie is not playing.

  11. Hornet I'm suprised that you dont know that Fulton's Head coach this year was going to be the assistant coach at Carter HS before she got the job at Fulton. So your correction is wrong this is her first year. I think her name is Lockmiller or something like that... She actually works at Carter MS or HS . Get your facts correct. :(

  12. I think the problem with Fulton girls basketball is the feeder program at Whittle Springs MS and Gresham MS are not that good. Holston MS is getting better, but all of the girls in that program can go to three differnt high schools. If I were in Fulton shoes I would make certain that the middle schools that feed my program are doing the same type of things that we want at the high school level. Also I would ask Coach Wright to be a part of the girls program assit when he has the time during practice. Fulton has a first year coach this year, I think that they will improve once the coach has had a few years to make a difference in the girls program.

  13. Fabe Five & Dr Feel Good keep bashing the Tn Star program. It really seems to me that you two are very very jealous individuals of what goes on in the Stars program. I dont know who you are and I really don't care. All I know is that I have a daughter that has been under Coach C for three years and she is fine. Negative comments are the best way for jealous people to lash out when they can't stop what they are trying to stop. Let me asure you once again that the Tn Stars program will be fine. If you want to know the truth about the matter please keep up the negative comments so people will continue to ask the Stars family about what it is that makes peolple so mad and jealous about the program. Thanks for all that you do (fab & dr ) Keep up the good work!! :)

PS To Coach C keep doing what you do for young ladies ( AAU & HS) it does not go unappreciated.

  14. I agree with you(RAH) about Kitty Houston she is underrated. The problem is where she goes to school. Im not puting the school down, however they need to play a more competitve schedule and Kitty will be notice. I hope for Kitty's future the coach will upgrade the schedule play more public schools. Kitty can play with the best in the state.
