  1. Great report JShanes. BTW, did you know I was one of your first customers when you came to Crockett Co? You took some of my senior pictures and some more with my family. I think you've done a great job since you've been here. Great game tonight huh? I was rather unimpressed with Marshall County as a team but Davis was very good.

  2. hey eaglefan...Hightower didn't run over MY cavalier team. We pretty much dominated Marshall County in the second half that night to win by something like 30-14. I was unimpresseed with Biggers and Hightower that night. Hightower looked better in 2000, but I might remind you that Crockett Co. suffered a tragic loss of a team member that week and did not even practice. You think that may be able to account for the fumbled snap which resulted in a safety and the missed PAT which caused Crockett Co. to lose by three points? One could certainly make that argument. However, it's in the past and it is irrelevant to this game. I only asked if "Hightower" was the same Hightower that used to play for Marshall County and for some reason you felt like talking a little trash instead of letting him answer my question.

By the way, the trash talking on here is pathetic at best. I mean, come on guys, just take a look back at some of this mess like "cavalier season opens friday" and "a tiger's favorite target is a cavalier" I don't think I've heard such lame crap since I was in middle school. I mean if you're gonna talk trash, at least try to make it sound half way insulting and not so comical.

  3. hightower, did you play for Marshall Co. a couple years ago? I remember playing against Biggers and a kid named Hightower during the 99-00 season 1st round of the playoffs. Just wondering if you're him.

I played for Crockett Co. by the way

  4. can you really call this trash talking? this is almost too unintelligent to be labeled as trash...pretty sad.

There were only about 1600 dead Mexicans after the battle - not thousands. Get *your* facts straight. I was really just pointing out that you said something like "see you at the Alamo - get it?" and that I felt you were confusing that with "remember the Alamo", a famous quote by Sam Houston's soldiers who eventually defeated Santa Anna's forces at the Battle of San Jacinto. My point was that we don't make a big deal out of the name of our town being the same as the Alamo of history.

You can try to avoid confronting your error if you want, but I really don't see the point in arguing with you so you'd probaby be better off just letting it be. I just thought your post was pointless and I felt you were a little confused in your trash talking and I felt like pointing it out.

  5. Davy Crockett died in the Alamo....hmmm I'm trying to figure out how that's relavent to next friday's game. Somebody said something the other day like "see you at the Alamo - get it?" like that was some kind of famous phrase or something. I think he was confused with "remember the alamo". We really don't make a big deal out of our town being named after the place where our country suffered a horrible defeat.

  6. my sentiments exactly. obviously i hope crockett co. wins, but i expect a tough game. from what i've heard, greenbriar is playing some very good football now. don't let 3 losses fool anyone, crockett made it to the championship last year with 3 regular season losses. i just hope crockett bring their best game and i'm confident they will.

  7. I've seen McNairy play twice and have yet to see Marshall Co. All I can do is tell those from Marshall County what to expect. McNairy Co. is pretty big up front and they have pretty decent speed, though no true running back. They play straight up smash mouth football but they aren't scared to throw the long ball and do so fairly well. They are probably going to be the toughest team up front that Marshall County has seen this year. However, if Mario Davis can break through a seam in the front 4 or 5, McNairy's speed probably won't be able to match Davis'. Marshall Co. will probably have to rely on big plays to win this game while I feel McNairy will try to play ball control and have as many sustained drives as they can. If McNairy can wear down he Marshall Co. defense, I see the Bobcats squeaking it out. But if McNairy can't put up at least 21 points, I don't see them winning as I think Davis et al will make enough plays to score at leat 28 points. Long story short - it's a toss up.

  8. If Mario Davis doesn't win Mr. Football it will be because of "stupid" people like me huh? Very insightful post. All I asked you to do was try to explain why you thought Davis was better than either Harper or Pitts. Davis is a junior and, from what I've heard, isn't putting up the numbers that either Pitts or Harper are putting up. Pitts is sharing carries with another 1,000 yard rusher (Earnest Williams) who I would love to see in a footrace with Davis. You might come away disappointed in that one. Williams is already getting some major attention from big time D1 programs and is probably a better overall athlete than anyone up for Mr. Football in 3A this year. But he is a JUNIOR and therefore, since he isn't putting up just eye popping stats (though he has over 1,000 yards already), he isn't up for the award. Davis is the top back for a good Marshall County team. I'm sure he's a talented runner. But the fact that he is a junior, in my opinion, and his numbers don't equal those of Pitts or Harper, he shouldn't get the award this year. Last year Pitts put up Mr. Football-like numbers, but we didn't get on here saying he was the best in the state or that he should win the award because we knew he had another year to get it and his senior year would be when he would get more recognition. You should consider that before convincing yourself that Davis should be the outright winner. The only juniort truly deserving of the award IMO in recent years was Mario McElrath of Union City who had upwards of 2,000 yards and a LOT of TDs. Davis has another year and if he proves outright that he deserves the award he'll get it. He just hasn't proven outright that he deserves it this year judging by his stats.

  9. riiiight eggy, and you base that on what, your vast knowledge of each player and his capabilities? This poll is getting more and more scientific every day. lol No offense meant by that comment, craigcoc. This has been a pretty fun thread to keep up with.

  10. To win Mr. Football as a junior, in my opinion, the player must be head and shoulders above the seniors who are up for the award. I don't think Davis is head and shoulders above Pitts and Harper. Nor do I think he outright deserves it over them. Nothing against Davis, but I just think that seniority should be in order unless there is a junior who is unreal(i.e. Mario McElrath who won Mr. Football with some eye-popping stats as a junior).

  11. Marshall County may have an advatage at home. They're probably used to playing on the outfield of their baseball field. Of course, South Side's field looked like a sand trap. Both teams are used to playing on crappy fields I assume. just a joke for all Tiger and Hawk fans.
