1. Brianna Garrison & Kendra Newman both signed with Virginia Intermont College today!

We are all excited and looking forward to the next four years! The girls are really excited about being able to play ball together in college as well. It has been fun posting & meeting people on here the past four years...we will pop in every once in awhile next year!

I realize NCAA's signing period is not until April, but I'd like to see where some of the girls have committed to...if you know of any committments (NCAA or NAIA), let us know!

  2. It is wrong, but it happens. Only 2 out of 9 coaches in our district felt that our #1, Undefeated team, deserved to have any players on the All District Team! They only voted 3 in because they had to...and then gave the District MVP to a player from another team. How can a team go undefeated in their district and not have any players worthy of All District or MVP? I'll tell you how...it comes down to jealousy and politics...

By the way, I saw Bianca play in the championship game on Saturday and I thought she was really good. I heard that she actually played better in some of her other games though. Pretty awesome for a Junior!

  3. Good Luck next week Roadrunners! We'll be rooting for you here in the east. Looking forward to seeing a few of your former players next year at VIC. Brianna #22 & Kendra #04 will be playing with them...some of the nicest girls we've met on all the college visits. BTW...it was nice to meet Ashley's parents last night!

Everyone at AE was very nice last night. Many parents, fans came up to our girls to wish them well and congratulate them on how well they played. We did shed some tears, not so much because of the loss, but because it was the last game 4 of our seniors will play with this team and for Coach Johnson. :D

  4. Congratulations to the Lady Panthers...you've went through a lot this season and earned your spot! Jeff Co. Patriots...there were many great teams who lost last night, but also many others who didn't even make it that far. Congrats on a great season and from what I read, a great played game!

Senior Lady Pats & Parents: It was a sad night for us last night as we watched our daughters play their last high school basketball game. I wish all the seniors (from all schools) the best and hope to see and read about many of you playing in college. There is a lot to be said for the kind of committment and dedication you've given over the last four years! thumb

  5. LTM

We know how you feel tonight. Our road stopped at home last year (OS) and on the road the year before (AE). You, your team and your fans are a class act. I know your daughter won't be around but you will enjoy it just as much when it does come. Congratulations on a great season and much success in the future.

Thanks voice! Actually, we'll be up your way quite a bit next year with Bri playing at VIC. Maybe you'll read about her some in your local paper. Does the Johnson City Press cover the college games up in that area?

  6. Our girls just didn't play their game tonight and the Roadrunners did. We were down by 4 points in the second half and then AE had a 10 point run. We did well at the end to bring it to a 10 point difference, but it just wasn't enough.

I hate it for our girls that we lost...with 4 seniors, it is heartbreaking...but we still made it further than we ever have...so be PROUD Lady Tigers! You'll always be #1 in this Mom's eyes! thumb

  7. Thanks, voice. We are prepared for AE tonight. Our girls have played against physical teams many times and in atmospheres where the fans are really "into" the game. Besides that....Jerome has given us a "Hearty Welcome" which we accept! :P Austin East has some classy fans who showed PF outstanding respect last year when our football team played at their place in play-offs. One of our kids had been killed in a shooting and AE had his jersey # on the scoreboard prior to the game. They also took a moment of silence and then prayed for his family and friends.

BTW, I know who CC is. We actually met a couple of years ago during the Twisters Tournament.

  8. I don't think anyone is really trying to imply that our coaches are unethical or anything. Just letting us know how good Betsy's sources are. Remember, they wouldn't have this inside-scoop had their scout not been out doing his job as well. :P

I'm glad we have a coach that is willing to put so much time and effort into winning. She has a dedicated staff and team as well.

  9. CC:

So, did your scout get his scoop yesterday? ;) Maybe he met up with the AE coach at Krystals next door. ;)

I don't know how much good it would do to watch a game tape of PF, they are so unpredictable. One game our post players are all in double digits, the next its our guards. I think we are going to need all 5 in double digits...playing 100%...to keep going next week. It only gets tougher from here on out. We have 2-3 on the bench that are just as capable as our starting 5 and they need to be prepared as well.

Our girls are ready for the Roadrunners and determined to win...so, hopefully we'll see you all next week!

  10. Hey LTM again:

Let me let you in on just how much we are inside the huddle;  the coaches met in the parking lot of the Wendys at the Sevierville exit on I40 around 10 am.  GPS or what?????

    My cousin Vinny,,,,,,,,,,,,,

 You guys are getting downright scary! :( Any famous paparazzi in your family? I thought only the famous had no private life.

Hey, why didn't you come introduce yourself last night? I'm still trying to figure out exactly who you are. Do you have a daughter on the team?

  11. Personally, I thought Garrison fouled Redd twice just across mid court before the ball was ever knocked loose. After the ball was knocked loose, Redd was the first to push, then Garrison.

    825602464

If she did, I didn't see it and I watch her pretty close...in fact, closer than any other player on the court. I think she just knocked the ball loose and it seemed that Redd thought it would just roll out of bounds, but when she saw Brianna running for it, she tried to hold her back. As she tried to push her out of the way, she caught hold of Bri's jersey and their arms became entangled. The foul should have been called then, but it wasn't. As they got to the ball, Bri did push her off. Now, at this point, giving the ref the benefit of the doubt that he didn't see Redd's first push, he should have called a double foul if he called anything at all.

Personally, I believe Redd kind of had it in for Bri at that point anyway. Bri had just previously stole the ball from her and prevented her from scoring on a fast break.

On another note, as PF was trying to foul to stop the clock...Redd was ahead of everyone...on another fast break...and Kendra reached to foul her, when she did this, it caused Redd to lose her dribble and she ended up knocking the ball out of bounds. Kendra was actually trying to get the foul at this point, but the ref wouldn't call it. We ended up with the ball because Redd knocked it out of bounds, but this was one of those "missed" calls that actually went our way.

  12. Hey Lady Tigers Mom:

A little birdie told me that your coach gave Todd Wright a tape of our game with PF.  My guess is Wright (OS coach) gave her a tape of his game against Austin East.  The coaches met at the Sevierville exit off I40 this morning!!  Im serious, ask her about it!  Ask Bri if they watched any Roadrunner tape today!  Im told that Wright then drove to Greene County to get another tape of the Cyclones!!

There's nothing wrong with this, in fact, it shows what good, dedicated coaches these programs have.

    825602274

You weren't kidding about having excellent scouts...does that include P.I.s?

They actually met at the Sevierville exit.....this morning!!! My, oh my! We've all made the comment "I'd like to have been a fly on that wall," looks like somebody from Carter County has lots of connections! :D

  13. You can scout all you want, but you still have to stop one of the most talented fives around. Easier said than done. None of the Cyclones are dirty players, just good ones, and I'm sure Hopson will take offense at your assessment. This team has not forgotten being beaten by Hall and company last year. Should be a good one. Go Cyclones!!!!!!!!!

    825602247

I thought the Cyclones played together as a team...very well. The starting five are all very good players. But when you walk away from the game, not knowing these girls personally, you tend to remember Rikki & the tall post the most. Hopson did great as a 5th player, but she just doesn't stand out to someone who doesn't know much about her. Rikki & Petrowski stand out...Rikki because she is really the best player on the team and Petrowski because of her size and she happened to play very well against us. I don't think there was anything negative meant toward Hopson though. As far as Redd goes, well...she is good, but not as good as Rikki. She is very physical and is probably the roughest player on the team. I'm not going to say she plays dirty, but when you dish out all you can "just because the refs aren't calling the fouls" that tends to be more like street ball...which can be a dirty game.

I think the Cyclones will beat OS tomorrow night. I really don't expect OS to be able to play enough defense to stop Rikki or Petrowski. You will have to guard their perimeter though. They have one new addition to their team that you're not familiar with...Katie Davis, from Oak Ridge/Karns. She is an excellent 3 point shooter. And I know you have an awesome defense and yes, you did beat PF last night, but we did have 7 - three pointers on you...which is about all we had. That is the only way I see OS staying close to you. Good Luck!

  14. CC:

I don't know about trading tapes with OS Coach...I really don't even know if the coaches know each other. But I would imagine Coach Moore (Seymour), who is a friend to our team/coach, would share one of his games against AE with Coach Johnson.

At least we don't have as far to drive on Saturday night, but sounds like AE's home court can be intimidating. Our girls are also determined to win this one.

Good luck to the Lady Cyclones as well.

Hey CC...did you happen to stick around for the boy's game? I read in the paper there was a fight in the stands and the boy's message board has talked about it. That's terrible...but I kinda figured someone would get in a fight or ejected from that game. Wild & crazy fans! :)

  15. BTW...thanks for all the compliments to our guards. I thought they played exceptionally well and gave it 100% to the last buzzer. I know it was heart-breaking to lose that game, but we are still on new ground. First time to play in Sub-State....and I'm PROUD of our girls!

What colleges are the EHS seniors considering? Just curious to know if we'll be seeing them any next year. Brianna & Kendra are both signing with Virginia Intermont.

  16. Did you, and you too Krich, ever stop to think that maybe our kids know how to play to what the particular refs are or are not calling???  Isnt that what they are coached to do?  Sure it was physical inside last night and it was obvious from the get-go that the refs were going to let them play.  So if you were the coach what would you want.....  Easy, for your kids to play as aggressive as the refs will allow.  Doing just that is what our girls did.    PFs posts did not.  End of story.  PFs outstanding guards kept them within shouting distance of EHS, and they did play aggressive, and neither got into foul trouble.

    825601093

That is about the best game summary I've read so far. If the player and coach cannot read how the refs are calling the game, it can affect the outcome tremendously. Especially when you are playing with officials from a different area. The refs were not calling fouls on PF that were anymore bogus than some they called on EHS. Our problem was (other than not playing strong in the paint) that the aggressive fouls were not being called against EHS. Bottom line...these officials were not good enough to call a Regional Championship game. They called bad both ways last night. Unfortunately, our girls did not capitalize on it in the way EHS did.

FYI...better be scouting those refs well on Saturday and hopefully next week. I've seen (and heard of) more T's called on players by Middle Tennessee refs in one game than we see in one season in the East. Bri got a technical (I think first ever) at Livingston for hitting the floor...while she was laying on it...due to frustration. I didn't think it was deserving, but she has learned her lesson in any event.

  17. Well I will give my 2 cents. I don't have dog in the race, but just wanted to see a good game and I did. Great fan support and a wonderful gym.

    1. EHS owned the paint, offense and defense. #23 is the best power foward I have seen all year, maybe the best in the state.

    2. PF owned the guard area. Offense and defense. #22 one of the best defensive players around and a good shooter too. #4 leads the team good.

    3. Very physical game.

    4. PF's post played real weak tonight #42 weak real weak.

    5. Officials were bad, but hey aren't they always

    6. The only call I thought was a back breaker for PF was when PF's 22 stole the ball and the point guard for EHS #45 (I think) was clearly fouling the player not going for the ball. If anything don't call a foul on PF, That one call makes me wonder how on earth this crew called a Regional Final.

    7. EHS did get the better end of the calls tonight. in the 2nd half or whole game for that matter, EHS played more physical and that is the price for that style of play.

    8. ALL in ALL the best game of the season so far.

Way to go Cyclones,  Tigers keep your head up your still not out of it yet.
