  1. LHS has not won a single game since Coach Rodney Martin left the program. They also have not won a football game since Mark Medley (sp) has left.

Here is the issue...does it really matter? What happened in the "glory days" is the past...what happened yesterday is the past. I am not certain, but just how far did Coach Martin's teams go? When I got to Lebanon, I am sure they had a team that finished second to one of the state champion Oakland teams.

The current coach will be more popular when he is gone than he is now. Support he and the players, especially if you are a parent.

If you will do just a little research, you will see there has been baseball since Coach Martin left the program.

  2. Magoo, you can almost say the same for Sam too, I wouldnt be opposed of going back to the days of the multiple formation I, we certainly have the personnel to do it.

How many returning backs and lineman do you have and what grades are they in?

I did not see them play this season. How big are their interior returners on both sides of the ball? and do you think the coach that coached the O-lines and D-lines will be retained if an "I" attack coach is hired? does the same coach do both lines? do you think the DC will be retained?

    thanks for information

  3. I think the new Head coach will be Letoni Murry from LaVergne Middle school not saying he deserves it but the way things work we will probably be stuck with him.

What is his high school coaching background?

Do you know which current staff members have applied and do you have a time frame for naming a coach?

Who do you feel would be the best candidate?

  4. Let me guess...........Lebanon lost to a Private school.

    Been there................

I only saw one LHS game, but I think they play in the largest classification where most if not all schools are public. Don't they play in Riverdale, Oakland, Smyrna, Lavergne, etc...? Much larger pond.

LHS played 6 teams that made the playoffs, 5 in 5A and one in 4A. No private schools on the schedule.

  5. Wow you made a great point to me. I see what you are saying. Let me put it this way then. The T$$aa needs to get off their butts and do their investigating in the schools that break these rules. It really gives all the schools a bad name. They come to a small town in East Tenn. because a player transfered 3 years ago and investigate that. The school has not gotten past the first round in the three years. But you have a private school that puts their football program together two years ago and they are 12 and 0. Has their Qb graduate last year and "poof" A senior Qb from Floridia wants to go to their school. I do believe if I am not mistaken they got a Senior tailback too. Now when public schools play this team what are they to think? And when people get on here and put down the intellegents of the public schools also. If they want to prove their point they need to let Baldcoach represent them. Very well put and you didn't make anyone look small.

Read in an earlier post you sent a child to private school in GA. Was it SCA?

  6. mjbear,

I saw the game and agree with you on what you ORIGINALLY said. The game was poorly called and none of the three umpires seemed adequate for such an important game. You must also learn that you cannot speak poorly of any official. They are quite sensitive even though you have said three times that the outcome of the game was influenced. I too agree that they were equally poor for both teams. I assume they came from Nashville. That association is thin on quality umpires.

  7. Cash,

I am not bashing any player or coaches. I just wish coaches everywhere would let the players play what they want to play. Concentrating on one sport has hurt all programs at LHS. I have not seen either LHS play this season, but simply from results, I think Lebanon takes this one in a close game. I think Coach Brown both motivates his players and is quite innovative on "O."

Baseball was mentioned, like in a court of law, if it is brought out, it can be talked about.

  8. Facts, I don't have many facts, but I do have some opinions. Coaching in general in Lebanon must be a tough job. Medley left when the players were running out, Dillard had one good year, got fired when the players ran out, Marshall was fired becasue he made the wrong people mad, same as Dillard, and Brown has lasted longer than I thought he would. The dog wags the tail in Lebanon. People who should have no power, have most of the power. Tomlinson, Cripps, Lassiter (sp), Franklin, and those alum with the money. That school is a football and boy's basketball school and has been for some time. The "all sports" booster club is nothing more than a FB and BSKB club. As far as baseball goes, the local leagues are made of players who attend all county schools including FCS, and the baseball "gurus" of Lebanon equate a good Dixie Youth or Babe Ruth all-star team as a good LHS baseball team. Not even close, at least half of most of those teams go to high school else where. Since my tenure as a resident of Lebanon, the baseball coaches have been Skeen, Martin, Grissim, Bartlett, Hunt, Bartlett again, Messer, and now Slone. Martin and Bartlett are the only two to my knowledge to have played past the district tournament since swithching to the current format. I will date myself, Skeen coached only one season, his last, when I moved to Lebanon.

My suggestion: HIRE GOOD PEOPLE WHO CAN COACH AND WILL LET THE ATHLETES CHOOSE THE SPORTS THEY WANT TO PLAY AND LET THEM COACH!

  9. I LOVE THE REDS AND ANGELS. I SAY THEY MEET IN THE SERIES, AND THE ANGELS TAKE IT 4 GAMES TO 3.

Your kidding, right? The Reds and the Angels will fold like a one-egg pudding similar to your beloved Wildcats. I like the Bwaves, Bwewers, Owioles, and will bet a full seven course meal at Craws-N-Sauce.

  10. REDSMAN - i hold your opinions in the very highest regard, it for that reason that i am very disappointed that you have no feedback for LHS strength and conditioning coordinator?  and as for the game with mosely - i assume that you will be traveling there?

    CC,

REDSMAN has been called out to comment on several threads and has not. Don't hold your breath on his response. As far as the comment on the LHS coach, you once took your date to the pressbox of an LHS football game as a cheap date. Working with Asst. Supt. Hutto and his cheapness has rubbed off. Why would you be looking so hard at Coach Lowery anyway?

  11. ENOUGH ALREADY !!  ITS NOT THE SWORD ITS THE SWORDSMAN!!

    825572731[/snapback]

That coming from a pitcher who had to have the perfect ball to throw. That would be like a hitter going to the mound to feel the pitcher face to try to recognize him. May your offspring never have a fwat tire or a hush puppy on a body part.

  12. XBOX & ONLOOKER, are you both nuts? When Hunt and Bowers hit infield, it looks like bombs over Baghdad. Scott has done rubbed the hair off his head and I will agree he can blind a man with his hat off at midnight. Both are the kings of the "leave its", those fly balls that reach half way to the outfield and the infielders have to chase. Both have to wear batting gloves because during their playing days they were sawed off so much, chain saw companies wanted them to do endorsements. They both play catch like they are cops...always handcuffing you. By the way, Bowers looks like he has Chewbacca in a headlock when he wears a three button polo shirt.

  13. Sounds to me like things are not as rosy as everyone in Lebanon or at Lebanon High make it out to be. Have no idea if any of this is true, but this can't help a program with a new staff. I think it will be hard to compete in 7-AAA with a disgruntled group. Time will tell.

  14. What 7-AAA teams are playing this weekend in the Smyrna tournament? When and at what schools? Did I see a Warrior complaining about umpires at a scrimmage? For goodness sakes, it is just a scrimmage game. Also are any of the Lebanon players that were disciplined earlier, back on the team? Can't wait until the district games begin!!!

  15. When anything goes wrong.... it has to be the coach. I have no idea what kind of team Cookeville has this season, but this is the same type of "chatter" that comes from Cookeville baseball any time something does not go your way. If there are no "banners" hung, go buy the players a trophy, certificate, a new bat, bat bag, fruit flavored water, or some food. Sounds like you do have problems playing defense and may not pitch it as well as you first expected. Parents, shut up,feed and love your kids and let the coaches do their jobs. Players, try to lay it on the line and be responsible for your actions.
