  5. QUOTE(PinballWizard @ Apr 19 2007 - 10:29 AM) 826441019[/snapback]I'm calling the upset here and taking Science Hill 3-2, I think Eddie Yah has the ability to shred CBHS's defense. I dont think they have the speed to keep up with him. Big win for SCHS tonight i think. Good luck to both teams!

I dont know what the score will be. However, I predict if Science Hill wins they will post their score. If they lose nobody will know!!!!!

  6. BigG- If anyone else besides your boy had used gay, you would have brought down the Coacht hammer on them. Be a teacher and not an agent. I figure that this wont be on here very long. Nothing ever is that contradicts the great and wonderful oz.

  7. The point to this is that St. Agnes has a varsity and a J. V. team. The J. V. team plays their games and the varsity plays theirs. During the year, a few girls from the J V would be brought up to games where the score could have been 20-0 to give them experience and reward them for their hard work. This was explaned to the parents at the first of the year by the coach and his staff. The school has many sports teams that travel, so like other schools, has a obligation to fund these other sports too. The decision was made to just take the varsity and a few girls to fill the roster. Also with the possibility of being there for a whole week, missing school was another issue. The school offerd to charter a bus for those who wanted to see the game Saterday, but only a few girls signed up. I'm telling everyone this because I felt like a few peaple where misled into thinking that our school was mistreting all of these very special girls that we have on our J V team that next year will have their chance to make varsity. The administration desided to give all of the girls rings even though it is not their policy to do so. This was not because of a disgruntled parent who has tarnised a special season for the kids, parents , and one of the most thoughtffull coaching staffs in the state at a time they should remember for life. IT was for the kids. Anyone that has to air this out in public so they can build up enough nerve to talk to someone about it should have talked about it first with the coachs . We at St. Agnes have a wonderfull adminisration, athletic department, and great kids. I hope that this in no way has left anyone with a bad impression of our school. After all, anyone who has been around either H S, club, or ODP soccer has had a few parents like this on the sideline.

While the intent of this post was to make us more aware, the spelling and grammar made it hard to follow without reading it numerous times. Hint, since the point is to cultivate a stronger student athlete lets lead by example!

  8. To address the problem, I would like to suggest that the TSSAA consider the following rule change in the off-season:

A foul against the goalie inside the box (or maybe inside the inner box) shall result in an automatic penalty kick against the offending team at the opposite end of the field.

This rule change would protect the keeper because it would make offensive players extra careful in this dangerous situation, much as the roughing-the-kicker penalty does in football.

It would also lend symmetry to the situation, in the sense that as the rules now stand the offending side has much more to gain than to lose by wreckless play inside the box.

    Just a thought.

Hello I am the reason Americans as a whole dont get soccer!

The way that some of us feel on the team, me included you don't need to come back next year. Out of the last 3 weeks, you have been too busy to come to practice. You don't work, so you could not use that as an excuse. You attended maybe 2 practices. Never on a Monday, because your beloved club team in Memphis was at practice. You thought last year that you were the saviour of the team. You were not. Maybe the reason you got beat on your side the first half was because you looked like you were out of shape. You are. We will play next year with or without you or mason peters. We might lose some, but we will all have fun and enjoy playing the game. Soccer is not life. Soccer is a sport that gets you ready for life, something that you will never be ready for. And as for the coach shoving you last night, he was trying to defuse the stuff that was going on and he pushed you toward our bench. The main reason he told you to leave the field was you called him a son of a #####. That took a lot of class to do that. Don't play next year, we don't want you to. number 1 benchwarmer. bye

Playing with a club team... I guess I do not understand. I hope a coach, but if this is a player...SHAME SHAME. If the above mentioned was practicing with a club team, he/she is inelligible...and maybe the whole team. Lets get to the bottom of this. I am sick and tired of individual soocer agendas. If you want this

type of life, golf/tennis is the sport for you.

    please explain

  10. I hate to say this but Millington will beat Bartlett Millington has some great players my son has scored 6 goals 2 against Bartlett they are horrible first off they only rely on 1 or 2 players last year Bartlett was a whole lot better plus Millington has beat some great teams like Kingsbury,St.Benedict, torn thru the district all i can say is watch out Millington will be a #1 Seed going into the Sectionals Bolton#2 Millington vs Bartlett Monday at 7:00 before that game Cordova vs Bolton 5:00.

Where are these 2 games being played? Monday 5:00 and 7:00 Where?

  11. didn't mean to offend you, but that game ended prematurely by 20 min due to lightning. Don't get me wrong, Houston is a very good team seeing that they beat Bcrest 5-0 correct? MUS tied Bcrest. So the obvious favorite is houston, but MUS should be ready, for they haven't lost to Houston in 3 years

    Hey Stewie!!!!!!!

  12. Just wondering what everyone thinks will happen...Houston is undefeated, but a tie to a Germantwon team that MUS beat 4-1.

    Should be a great game

Interesting- Houston beat an ECS team 4-0 that MUS tied 1-1 weird stuff

  13. houston beat the top 2 teams in arkansas tied the top team in oklahoma and beat a top 10 alabama team 6-0

6 of their next 9 games are vs ranked teams

plus district 15 is very tough this year

i respect the job that coach wolf has done the last 2 years girls and boys

    3 points reagarding this post:

    1. Coach Mike Irby is the Coach of Houston High

    2. Under his guidence he led The Mustangs to back to back National Championships. The 2 best high school teams I have ever seen in the state of Tn.

    3. Houston will always be a factor in post season. Just like Brentwood,Hendersonville, Bearden

  14. I'm a big fan of "level playing fields" having spent over 30 years playing and coaching youth club, amateurs and high school teams. But, with all due respect, I don't understand why this issue is so critical that "Brentwood" needs to respond to anyone other than the TSSAA if they inquire.

First, I tend to agree with Cree. If it's a rule, it should not have been broken; however, assuming it happened, I don't see the harm in Brentwood playing a pre-season scrimmage against an out-of-state opponent that is already in season. What is the difference to the Tennessee "scrimmaging" team other than facing, maybe, more seasoned competition pre-season? If it truly is a violation of a TSSAA rule, so be it. Let the TSSAA handle it appropriately (if they can figure out how to accomplish that task). I just don't see any great harm from this particular behavior.

Second, I seriously doubt that many/any good club teams or college teams would ever want to play "down" with high school sides, scrimmage or otherwise. However, if they would, I also question the harm to high school teams of pre-season scrimmages against club and/or college teams. Again, it's just a scrimmage and it would, for most high school teams, be a good opportunity to experience good competition in a learning environment. Obviously, Tennessee club teams would be without their high school players once the high school soccer period begins. Again, what is the harm in this highly unlikely event?

Finally, I don't see how playing an otherwise valid scrimmage (i.e. using proper players during the appropriate time period for scrimmages) would lead to "overlapping winter seasons" for anyone, much less than for an unfair few. There are strict rules on the time periods high school teams can train and play together as a team. Why would an otherwise valid scrimmage lead to a whole new overlapping season?

Sometimes in sports we tend to over regulate ourselves into concrete shoes in the false hope of preserving "fairness", whatever that is. If one team has a valid opportunity to gain a good learning experience that does not otherwise disadvantage a future opponent, what is the harm and why do we discourage the opportunity? Following this line of thought, should we ban allowing some schools to spend Spring Break playing and practicing soccer as a team at the beach because some other schools can't arrange to do the same?

This thread sounds a lot more like someone's ticked at Brentwood rather than someone's concerned about fair competition. <_<

The idea that we overregulate may be valid. We are not the rule makers. We are the people who are supposed to uphold them. The easiest way for this to go away is to make it seem personal. Weak on your part! Page also was scheduled to play Grissom. They chose not to. Good call on their part. Easiest way for this to go away self report. I know this has not happened.
