  1. Creeker, All the Lowlander up here in nose bleed country are wondering where you been since the Unaka and Cloudland game. Not a single post about this game. Before Feb 11th, we heard from you daily about how bad we were going to get beat. Someone told me you had went into a deep depression and your Doctor told you that the only cure was a good mess of RM Ramps, but it will be about two month before you can dig any. Please let us know if you are OK

PS; The Jones Twins and the King send's their love :P:D:):)

  2. Tolley Dunks Donuts ... thats about all he dunks. The Rangers will beat you tuesday, the next time and the time after that. There is no one with enough talent to even touch Unaka in district 2, so i dont know what penny playaz talkin about.

Outlaw, you beat us so bad at your place, no way we can beat you at our gym. (I beleave you beat us by 1 in OT)

  3. Ela could you explain a little more. Just out of curiosity do coaches only vote for players in their own class? Can a 2A coach nominate a 4A player? Did they vote on a Div.II team? If not, why not?

I remember the same thing happening with the coaches team last year. There were very obvious omissions last year. At the time I said the coaches should be embarassed by the players they left off. I for one can`t see why someone didn`t stand up nominate Mark Byrd from Cloudland. Even if his coach didn`t make it there or fax a nomination surely someone in that group of coaches should have enough knowledge to put Byrd`s name on there. I can`t imagine that these coaches not knowing about Byrd. Maybe I`m off base though. If a players stats had to be submitted then it would be hard for someone else to have Byrd`s stats. If the coaches want to put out an all state list (and I think it`s great) they need to devise a better system. I said that last year as well.

Coach Lunsford from Cloudland is also the girls basket coach and had a game on Friday. Byrd and Chrisman, "Mr Football" in 1A did not make the list, but 3 player from CPA made it. Pearman from Boyd should have it also???????????????????

  4. Let's look at the 2000-2001 year. Single A state championships. Private schools won 10 and public schools won 3.

That means during the last three years that private single A schools have won 33 championships and public single A schools have won 6. That is a total of 85%. I don't have the figure but don't private single A schools make up less than 20% of the teams playing single A sports.

Again I am not making any accusations against private schools. It just seems there must be a difference. Do all the best coaches in all sports go to private single A schools? Do all of the best athletes just happen to attend private single A schools? Maybe it is true that the private single A schools work harder than the public schools. It just seems odd to me that walking through the front door of a private school makes you a better coach, a better athlete and a harder worker than the public opponents. Just wondering.

Great post. ok, private school supporter, lets hear your coments. By the way, what percent is private vs public in 1a. If they make up about 90% of 1a school, they should have all these wins.

  5. DCA didn't have thier best player. They did good just to be in the game let alone win it. And about that pass interference call, it was definately good. He was pushed in the back and although it wasn't a great pass it was certainly catchable.

Did Wooden play any last night?

      1. I doubt anyone outside of Roan Mountain really cares.

    2. Shouldn't this be on the basketball board since Byrd, Byrd, Give 'em the Byrd is no longer a participant in TSSAA football?

bbsesq, I will reply to you with a post you made on Coacht on Nov 3. Here is your quote, "Success breeds envy and resentment". Now go out and have a nice day.

  8. Mike Gray and myself are planning on going to the game. Have 4 empty seats in the van if you and Brother Mike would like to go. Leaving around 3pm from the Supermarket

    Lawrence

Is any other CHS fan planning on going to this game?

  9. To all Cloudland player and coaches. What a run, 49 win and 1 lose in regular season. Thanks for all the memories on Friday night. We will always be LANDER fans. Hold your heads high, you have much to be proud of.

Again, thank you, Lawrence and Evelyn Roberts

  10. I don't agree!  Tim was not inside Lunceford's head during the game.  I think this was a biased and judgemental article.  Tim is not coaching either team and really has made a lot of assumptions and accusations toward Coach Lunceford that he knows nothing about.  I will not do the same.  I would really like to see this die and go away.

Tim said he struggled with this story.  Would the struggle be that he is afraid of losing the income from the Cloudland fans?  He chose to write this story in the way it was written and I can choose to never buy his paper.  Reporting the news is one thing.  Making unwarranted and hurtful statements is another.

I assume when people call you out, you better defend yourself or else the rumors will start to fly much like this board. RBC, first of all anytime you would love to discuss this with me why not call me or tell me where to meet you and we can "discuss it" but I won't write nothing "unless I can back it up." I was not biased in this article nor did I downgrade any of the Highlander players or coaching staff. As to paper sales, no one has twisted your arm and made you buy it. Buy it because you enjoy reading about Carter County sports not because of me or anyone else. I am sure that the good people of Roan Mtn. appreciate the hard work that goes into our paper. If I depended on income from this paper I would starve. I am blessed with a good job and do this as a hobby to help kids. Did I step on Coach L's toes? Yes. God forbid anyone be objective, but that's what a good reporter does they look at both sides of what happened. I also stepped on Unaka's. You might find this rather amazing RBC and Pujo but I have had several responses from Highlander fans that support the article. "Some from the parents of your own players. "It's an opinion, much like the ones you have only we choose to look at both sides and not just our own viewpoints. I find it hard to believe they would tell me one thing and you something else.

The paper contained over 4 pages of nothing but Cloudland School athletics this week. Everything we write about the Highlander kids is nothing but positive. You might want to talk to Kim "KrichUnaka" and find out what we did a few weeks back for several Highlander football players. On our way back from Asheville N.C. after we had gotten the paper printed we stopped off at Mars Hill College. My son is being recruited there but we made it a point to go to the football coach and talk to him about "Several Seniors on the Highlander football team" One was Dane Christman who we praised very highly. We gave him the players names and how to get in touch with them at the school. Do we want a pat on the back? No. We do it for the kids because we care about them. As for you, I could care less if you choose to read it or not. Did I state I was inside your coach's head? No. But maybe a part of me should have been, then we could have avoided all this discussion on Coach T. As for myself, I have chosen to move on to next week, for this game is now "water under the bridge." My telephone # is very easy to find.

I agree 100% with RBC Tim's story is called "LUNSFORD LOVE LOST ON THE CREEK". I live in RM, and I think you need a follow up story called "ENSOR LOVE LOST IN ROAN MOUNTAIN" for the Unaka coach's outburst after the game. Why didn't he want the clock to run and shorten the time of the qtr.Avery's football team got killed by a very good Owen football team and 3 Avery's players was carried of the field. What did the coach tell his players? "We played a very good team tonight and this is where we want our program to be in a few years." He did cry about the the score. You printed what one of our fans said, "pour it on". Did you want our fan not to cheer. our cheerleaders not to cheer, our band not to play, and most of all for our players not to play. There is two sides to this story.

  11. landerblue, come on up to the pressbox and meet me and bighurt.  Yes the game starts at 7:30 central and it will be a good one. DCA has a great facility and are a class act.  Good luck to our friends up on the mountain and go Lions.

    B)  I may do that. Think they will let me in with my Lander Blues on?

As far as predictions on the game. I like to wait until it is over... Seems much easier that way...

OnlineLC, I'm sure they won't let me in either... I have this disorder... Every 10 seconds or so I uncontrollably scream....GO LANDERS!... There is no known cure.. B)

LanderBlue, You may not want to wear you blue and gold to the game. 4life may go off the deep end if he see's a Cloudland shirt. Did we talked on the Snack Shack porch yesterday? :D

  12. cap;;;  would it not be great to be 16 or 17 again and have that fast car???  of course..  I.m a Ranger fan with the best of PRIDE for my Unaka team.  But all this trash talk and the comments by both coaches in the paper were a little uncalled for..  Seems like I remember Coach Ensor playing baseball for Unaka and beating Cloudland 50-0  is that not right??? IN Baseball 50-0, come on folks.  If Unaka could beat Cloudland in Football 50 points or 60 do you not think it would happen??  When our Hero Krich played, did he not scored about 6 or 7 touchdowns on Cloudland, and beat them about 50-60 to nothing.  But as I recall I don't think he played the fourth quarter, and as I recall his Coach is or was a Cloudland coach after leaving Unaka..

Could be a good reason to form one High school in Carter County or maybe two.  Then look at the talent, but then again who would be coach..  I'm a true sports fan and I don't get to attend as many games as I use to because of my health,  But if I could score a hundred points in football, 50 in baseball or 100 in basketball I would have like too.  This is not little league, peewee or jr. league this are high school players trying to prepare and get into some over crowded colleges.  They are basically adults, still our little boys at heart but in reality MEN.  Let them play, Stop the TRASH talking, and thank GOD you are able to attend the games and watch them play,  maybe someday we get someone like the Witten kid we can watch on Sundays.  My first post, just learned of the site, but glad to hear from my ol friend Kmm R, Still Unaka's best football player ever.

Creeker67 Your post make more sense than any I have read on this board.
