  1. This one will come down to one thing and one thing only: Special Teams! Special Teams! Special Teams!

This game will come down to either a missed/made FG, Big Kick/Punt Return TD, or who ever can flip the field postion in their favor more often then not is going to win the game.

Special Teams is critical for this game due in part to the ball control both teams play.

Good Luck to Both Teams Should Be A Great One!

  2. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> The all region teams is usally not posted until after the Region Banquet. Probably the best way to handle it if you were to ask me. But nobody did. just some fyi. Looks to be a lot of good ones this year. Good Luck to all those who win.

  3. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" Wasn't he the guy who was going to live with Deion Sanders in Texas but freaked out and "borrowed" Deion's ride and caught a flight back to Florida? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  4. Well I have been in deep depression over the weekend(How do we lose to 1-7 Rajun Cajuns and the Lady Raiders failed comeback attempt at Old Dominion). I can't recall having such a bad weekend in a long time. But it's Wednesday and the Lady Raiders did not fail me( Blowout win over Tennessee Tech), and I feel that Cascade will do the same. Tough road game, but every game is during this time of year. Good luck to both teams I will be back for more info.

    Go Champs

    Go Big Blue

  5. On with the picks:

    Cascade /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

    J.B.S: /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

    WHH: /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

    MTP: /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" /> [/color]

I'm going with all REGION 6 teams tonight.

MTP still has Mr. Football and with a week off, their rested and pumped up in the jungle.

WC has been overlooked and under rated all season, They are all healthy and ready to go and better than last year.

C'wood is too fast for Cascade and their fleet of RB's will be loose all night.

MC is the most improved team in the region and not the same team that played Cascade early on. MC in a nail bighter.

GOOD LUCK REGION 6 PROVE ME RIGHT TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey what ever happend to Brian Coggins. That guy could play did he ever go to college and play ball

  6. Dang, Ice, tell us how you really feel!!!!!! So if I root for the Vols, I'm not allowed at your stadium? Got a funny feeling the MTSU AD would disagree with you..

Mr. Massaro has been very vocal about how MTSU can be your "local" team. I give him a lot of credit he realizes what he is up against and is trying to create a win-win for football fans. Before I get blasted I am a diehard MTSU fan and would love for more people to jump on board. But here are the facts for most people in the Midstate you are less than an hour drive from going to a game and seeing Div I Teams play. We have an exciting brand of football and I would love for local Vols fan to come out and see what Middle is all about. Who knows we may have a few of them wear out some blueraiders gear. I am a Lady Vols Fan but I love my Lady Raiders. So yeah you can be both if you really want to be.

    Just a thought.

  7. Ya, I posed for that photo in an old halloween costume I had. (that's my bathroom wallpaper in the background.).. Actually, the Trojan Warriors worshipped their horses in much the same manner they did their Gods. They treated their horses better than they did their women. Not much has changed.....

    LOL!!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> ...................... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> .................. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  8. Good luck C'wood from the Raider naton. Show them what Region 6 football is about.

Let's go Cascade and MTSU Blue Raiders!

I realize most of the people on this website will either roll up to or watch the Vols play Arkansas. But I tell you MTSU is in the thick of things for winning back-to-back SunBelt Championships. So if you plan on just watching the Vols, how about you Tivo the game, and come down to the Boro and Watch the Blue Raiders play. Last home Game of the year, it's Homecoming and Our Salute to Veterans. So show your red, white, and blue spirit and come support Your Middle Tennesseee Football Team!

    Let's Grow Blue!!

P.S. The Lady Blue Raiders play Top 25 ODU in Norfolk at 6:00 central. Tune in to 89.5 or listen live at goblueraiders.com

    cwood 21 cascade 10

good luck trojans, lets have another chance against mtp.

If I am not mistaken UT-Martin was the Pacers (STANDARDBREED HORSE) before they became the Skyhawks: I personaly thought the should be the Fighting Farmers. But that didn't go over well. So why make fun of Walking Horse?

  10. Being a Homer here is how I see Friday Night going. But First off I want to say Congrats to both of the teams in the Stones River Bowl last night, the game was very tough and physical regardless of the 33-6 score Cornersville is moving in the right direction and I think Monterey showed just how tough it is to play in Region 4-1A.

    On with the picks:

    Cascade /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

    J.B.S: /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

    WHH: /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

    MTP: /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />

  11. Cascade11,

    Great Post!

There is something to be said about playing for keeps on your home field for maybe your last time. I know when I left Cascade field for the last time we beat Forrest and finshed the year with a 4 game winning streak. That was a long time ago, but the feeling is still very much alive, to be able to look at the south endzone and see that the last time I put on the orange& black at home I was a winner and that is a memory I will take with me the rest of my life. The life lessons that were learned playing this game have made me the man I am today. And I owe a lot to Coach Kenny Parker and how he taught us to believe in what we do. So don't over estimate the power of believeing. It will carry you long after the your days of being on the football field are over

    Go Champions!

  12. What I would like to see happen is for 1 or 2 teams from region 7 (most western teams) re-assigned to region 8. Collinwood and Wayne added to region 7. McEwen, Jo Byrns, and White House Heritage added to region 6. Moore County and Huntland added to region 5. M.T.C.S. added to region 4. Furtherest team east in region 4 moved to region 3. Same for 3>2 and one team from region 2 moved to region 1.

That would make the breakdown like this:

    Region 1 7 teams

    region 2 8 teams

    region 3 8 teams

    region 4 8 teams

    region 5 8 teams

    region 6 8 teams

    region 7 8 teams

    region 8 8 teams

Just looking at the map White House is East of the 65, they would be better off moving to Region 4 with M.T.C.S. Keep Jo Byrns in 5 , Huntland in 6, McEwen to 7, and Moore Co in 6 this being based on interstate travel time and geography.

  13. Since you brought it up:

'04 MP beat FRA then CPA loosing only to the eventual state champs DCA. So 2 out of 3 ain't bad. Since the ABC schools left there is a bit of a difference. 6 has taken 3 of 4 each of the last 2 years. So I'm living in the not so distant past.

    Good Points /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  14. First of CASCADE11 it does matter to a hill of bean to you if I still have all that stuff. I may have the rubix cube here but I do know that you have the old magic 8 ball with you.

The fact is that 6A has owned 5A when it comes playoff time. You are the who has bragged on Cascade for the past couple of years. I maybe wrong here but I think you had them winning state last year & they got put out by Wayne Co. If I have to eat crow from my picks then I will & you will have nothing to do with it. I see the games the way I do & you see them another way. I took my loss aganist Moore Co with a grain of salt and moved on without any excuses.

Well Speaking of back in the day, Region 5-1A did own Region 6-1A, if my memory serves me right Region 5-1A was the ABC Region with, Ezell Harding, FRA, CPA, Goodpasture, and DCA. So far as I am concerned Region 5-1A has always owned Region 6-1A. Sure a lot has happened in the past 10 years, but speaking from a true win-loss record Region 5-1A has done well over Region 6-1A. How about that for living in the past

Just kidding, I think Region 5-1A will still take 3 of 4 games.

  15. A few things that will need to change before Cascade makes a deep run in the playoffs:

1.) The Batts kid will have to be moved back to safety and the best option off the bench inserted at linebacker until the Gaithright kid comes back..(probably McPheron,Martin, or Harvey).

2.) Better communication in the secondary.. Too many kids running uncovered the other night.

3.) The QB needs a hot read on every play. Jo Byrns was blitzing linebackers and the only time they threw to Marable on a quick slant, it was successful.

4.) QB needs to do a better job of recognizing blitzes and call audibles when situation dictates it. Need to vary snap count more also. J.B. was getting way to good a jump to not get them offside a couple of times with count variation.

5.) Have to go deep a couple of times early in games rather than wait until your down to try and throw the ball. Pass plays have a lot better chance of being successful when the defense isn't anticipating it.

6.) Better overall tackling. Some kids aren't wrapping up and are going for the knock out punch. Need to do a better job of swarming to the ball.

7.) Receivers need to recognize when the QB is in trouble and break patterns off to help QB out when he is scrambling. This team is not good at getting open to help the QB. I was at the game last week and noticed several times the QB had plenty of time to throw and there was no one open.

8.) The play has to come in quicker from the sideline. If the QB could get up to the line of scrimmage and get a better pre-snap read, it would make a world of difference! Several times last week, the play came in so late, the QB practically had to run to the line of scrimmage and get the snap before the clock ran out. This also plays into the hands of the defense because they know you are going on one and can get a great jump off the line.

9.) Use the Tight end and backs out of the backfield more in the passing game. Cascade has an excellent line which dictates that most teams have to bring linebackers to get any pressure on the QB. If they threw to the tight end over the middle or a back on a middle screen that play is there most of the time. I know it was attempted a couple of times last week, but the timing seemed to be off.

Cascade has a top five team talent wise from what I've seen, but several small things are preventing them from reaching potential. Hopefully some of these suggestions will be taken under consideration.

    All good post but #8,

Two things that would help that, a play clock or go no huddle. I think the play clock would be easier, it takes most colleges two weeks to install a no hurdle offense. But all are good thoughts

  16. Well, I just finished up my Humble Pie: And want to say so much for my 3 O.T. low scoring defensive battle from both teams. But hey what dosen't kill you only makes you better. The weekend is over the kids have gotten this one behind them and are ready to focus on the game at hand. Besides JBS I felt like WHH would be a good team and could possibly when the region. Having seen them play three times this year, they do a great job of swarming to the ball and they are well seasoned by Coach Brown. They do a great job on offense of getting the ball to their playmakers. I have to say they play good ball in Roberston County, and have for years. Well I know my Champions will rebound and this one could be a long one. Good Luck to both teams and I will be back later to give my final thoughts.

MTSU has moved into a 2nd place tie in the Sun Belt with 1 remaining home game if you have not seen a game you should head to the Boro and root on the Blue Raiders. They are Middle Tennessee's Team!

  17. No way. How many years was he there before he had a good season? Over 10. And the only reason they are any good now is because of Clay Head. The players from that year and after got that taste for winning in their mouth his senior year and it has carried over for the last few years. That run ends this year since WHH already beat them and Cascade is gonna pound em like friend chicken.

I thought the Jo Byrns people might enjoy this post, when I had the audacity to suggest that Tom Adkins was the best 1a coach in the state you can head over there to read my response.

/roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Friend Chicken, is that Like Buddy Steak, or Pal Pork Chops, sorry my inner dork is coming out

  18. hey did any one notice that someone has already started the Cascade - Heritage thread. Don't take too many posts away from this thread yet.

That's a week away, a little early to start the smack.
