1. Can lebanon keep it going?

I am looking forward to seeing how the Blue Devils stack up. This appears to be the time to get the Stars as their pitching has been somewhat disappointing to this point. While Watson has pitched well he has not been as dominant as he was last year and the number 2 spot has struggled.

  2. This is by no means a knock at Farragut because for all any of us know they may be the best team in the us. But seriously, national high school polls of any kind in any sport should be taken with a grain of salt. How can you legitimately compare teams from across this nation when the caliber of play from area to area varies so greatly. Also, there may be some podunk team in Nowhere that gets no national coverage that might be an absolute stunningly great team. You just don't KNOW. This is true tin football, basketball, baseball track or any other sport.

I'm not a big fan of polls in general because they are so political (believe me I know I was on the inside of them for 20 years so I know), especially in high school.

That's why you play the championships all the way to the state level. Until you play beyond that you can't really have a national No. 1. You could probably gather 50 truly impressive high school teams. Make for a great tourney, wouldn't it!!!!????

They won't be number 1 for long. Independence 8 Farragut 2.

  3. I don't get why Cookeville fans constantly ride Butch Chaffin. He is one of the best coaches in the state and in the end his teams seem to always be in contention. Every coach does things that makes people scratch their heads, but I don't know any coach that puts a team on the field and thinks "man, I sure am glad that I didn't put the best lineup for the situation on the field." Coaches do things for one reason or another. There might be more going on behind the scenes than people realize. I actually heard at a summer tournament 2 years ago from a Cookeville parent that their kid should be the starting 3rd baseman over "that kid we got there." "That kid" was Bo Reeder. Point made. I know this is going to cause a frenzy with you Cookeville faithful, but after having some of the top players from your program the past several summers (who seemed to have very few complaints about their coach), you should appreciate what you have. He instills some discipline and "get after it" that very few other coaches do.

I agree with you on that one borodbackscoach. He does a great job with their program. He gets alot of grief from the meanest home crown in 7aaa.

  4. Who Wins the Final 7-AAA as we know it now?

Next year brings some big changes.....

Here is my prediction for how the teams will finish:

    1. siegel - Carter and Robinson (if healthy) are a formidable duo.

    2. Blackman - Cisco and Bowers provide more pop than any other team in this district. Pitching should be solid but not as good as Siegel's.

    3. Riverdale - Returns 2 of top 3 pitchers (Orphanos and Davis) and 6 regulars on defense. Offense will be much improved simply because of experience.

    4. Cookeville - Coach Chaffin always fields a very competitive team. Their success will hinge on whether they can pitch with teams mentioned above. They lost alot to graduation and their best returning hitter trasnferred.

    5. Oakland- Solid number 1 pitcher (Barrett). Return very productive hitter in Sinor but rest are unproven except for Ward. Injury to Dodd is a huge blow.

    6. Lebanon - Not as familiar as I should be with this team. They lost alot to graduation.

    7. Warren County - Have struggled the last couple of years in a very tough district so I will have to take the stance that they will need pounce on teams early to make a believer out of me.

    8. While I believe they will be much improved based on their solid performance in the District tournament last year, it is hard to place them anywhere but last since they have finished there the last several years.

This simply is my opinion and not intended to offend anyone. I am really looking forward to another great year and final year of 7AAA baseball.

  5. QUOTE(smiley01 @ Apr 3 2007 - 09:06 PM) 826429293Lebanon got beat tonight by a very classless and bush riverdale team. The team chants when the coach is taking a mound trip chanting at the coach which is a no no. There is nothing wrong with cheering on your teammates bbut it is very bush to chant at the other team especially the coach. And i'm a firm believer that your actions is a reflection of the coach and the coach is squeezing 8-2 with two strikes on the hitter then again with the score 9-2 which is bull crap. It all shows where there class, excuse me LACK OF CLASS, comes from and that is Coach Powers.

Please we have heard it all before. Someone get a tissue for smiley. You should have been named "Whiney01". If you don't want them chanting then beat them. That will shut them up.

  6. QUOTE(diamond devil @ Apr 3 2007 - 09:47 PM) 826429322First of all Riverdale does have a good baseball program. Hunter is a special hitter, and a good all around player. There kids play hard , but I sure hope you do not learn somethings from your head coach. Riverdale beat Lebanon pretty good to night no doubt about that, but to squeeze bunt up 9-2 is sad. Coach Powers should have more respect for the game of baseball than that. Players chanting at the others team coach is pitiful. Sitting up in the stands and watching this upset me greatly. I wish TSSAA could have been at the game because I am sure that they would be very proud of Riverdale's behavior.

Can anyone say sour grapes!!!!!! Coach Sloan is a whiner. He complains all night about the strike zone from the 3rd base coaches box. He complains from the dugout. He refuses to shake hands after the game as he more whining to do with the umpires. I don't want to hear about Riverdales lack of class when coach Sloan takes the cake.

As far as bunting to score a run to try to put some assurance runs on the board, I believe he was trying to win not show anybody up.

Respect for the game!!!!!! you call Sloans behaviour respectful. How about the young man showing his behind when he was called out trying to stretch a single into a double when you are trailing by 6 runs. He should have been tossed. His only excuse is that he is behaving like his coach.

  7. QUOTE(TeamGame @ Mar 1 2007 - 05:14 PM) 826395539You are correct. There appears to be conflict between some players that is causing issues within the entire organization. I hope it is soon addressed and dealt with. It is really sad, the guys just want to play ball..... As far as someone being kicked off the team, that I am not sure of......

This can't be true! I know for a fact that Riverdale stands for Truth , Justice, and the American way of life. They even have a group of Dads that hang out the left field line and refer to themselves as "sportsmanship". What?????

Hey guys can I be an honarary member of the "sportsmanship" group? I promise to behave unless things don't go my way.

Please advise so that I can make the necessary plans.

  8. QUOTE(OaklandGrad @ Mar 1 2007 - 10:57 AM) 826394883Somebody needs a therapist

You are not the first to suggest such.

Be that as it may, it's gonna be fun at the ballpark.

  9. QUOTE(riverdaleman @ Mar 1 2007 - 12:10 AM) 826394454Hey RIVERDALEMAN please use some punctuation in your posts so we can make sense of them

I DO....i use a space bar. LOL! Is that better?

P.S. Please watch the name calling.

My bad RIVERDALEMAN. I will now go back to the hole from which I emerged but not before I predict this years finish in 7AAA.

    1. Lebanon - Why not!!! Sooner or later they gotta get better.

    2. Cookeville- Coach Chaffin has best one liners.

    3. Siegel- Sorry siegelbeagle but not this year.

    4. Blackman- Show me you can get over the hump.

    5. Riverdale-The cycle of life gets us all.

    6. Warren County- Just because.

    7. White County- Go Warriors!

    8. Oakland- Are you guys still in this district?

  10. QUOTE(magoo043 @ Feb 28 2007 - 07:19 PM) 826393829who do you see stepping up the most from the young guys? I don't know a whole lot about riverdale's team this year, especially the pitching staff

Looks like Riverdale will struggle this year and it is about time. I'm really am tired of those cocky buggers and their loud mouth coach. Did you know that Coach Hawks has not beat Coach Powers since they named the field after him?

Maybe they should rename the field after Buddy P.

To my buddies from Oakland. How long you gonna have to talk about 1999 and 2000. I guess you have to.

I going to pick Lebanon to win the District this year just because I am tired or hearing about all the Boro schools.

Go Blue devils or Pioneers or Cavaliers or anybody outside of Murfreesboro.

Hey RIVERDALEMAN please use some punctuation in your posts so we can make sense of them.

  11. so you've never seen a professional baseball game i assume? :P ... just playin

...sounds like riverdale is turnin it up... who pitched?

Freshman Davis went the first 3 innings and then it was Johnny Wholestaff for 1 inning a piece for the final 7 innings.

I have now seen Teams from 3 Middle Tennessee Districts and my early impression is that 9AAA is going to be a war. 9AAA appears from early showings to have the most dominant pitching. 7AAA will be very competitive but other than Killian from Warren County their are no really big arms in this District. I'm not saying that the pitching is"nt good just not the type of arms that make you go GAGA.

I,m picking Beech followed by Mt Juliet in 9AAA and Riverdale, Warren County, Oakland, and Siegel in a four way tie in 7AAA.

I don"t really believe this will happen but it is the best I can come up with since I view this year as anybody's ballgame so to speak.

  12. Another nail biter between rivals even though the final score does not indicate that.

The thing that makes this game so tough is that their is no surprises. With that in mind I thought both starting pitchers (Robinson & Underland) threw tremendous

games against teams that are very familiar them. Congrats fellas you did youselves and your teams proud.

On another note I think "disgustedfan" should just sit back and watch as both of the "Watsons" get to keep playing. The two best catchers in the Mid state area by far reside in M'boro and just happen to share the same last name. Better luck next

year. It seems like you guy's hear that line all the time.

  13. What does Riverdale losing to Warren County have to do with last year's state tournament?

It's very possible that Warren County is just better or at the very least was better last night.

Give credit where credit is due.

It's obvious to me you are associated with a team that has not faired well against

the Warriors and the best you could do is take a weak jab at them by comparing

their loss to Warren County to their losses in the state tourney.

My guess is you have never played in a state tournament.

    Sour grapes "Stealthcowboy"?

  14. 1. BLACKMAN- RETURNS ENTIRE PITCHING STAFF

    2. RIVERDALE-BEST HITTING TEAM IN DISTRICT.

    3. OAKLAND- ALWAYS FINDS A WAY TO COMPETE. SS BIG QUESTION FOR THIS TEAM.

    4. WARREN COUNTY-LOOK FOR TEAM TO BE A CONTENDER.

5.COOKEVILLE- NEW COACH, NEW ATTITUDE. YOU NEVER KNOW!

    6. LEBANON-NEW COACH, WILL BE BETTER.

7.WHITE COUNTY-LOST QUALITY PLAYERS- WILL STRUGGLE TO COMPETE.

    8. SIEGEL-NEW SCHOOL, WILL BE EXTREMELY YOUNG. GIVE THEM A COUPLE YEARS.

JUST MY OPINION. LIKE TO SEE HOW OTHERS FEEL ABOUT THIS DISTRICT.
