Chrissy Strini from Cordova is being recruited from about 8 or so D1 colleges and a lot of small colleges. If any of you dont know her from high school soccer she also plays for the regional ODP team.

I wish Cordova would get a new coach. I love our coach (Todd Purcell) a lot, it's just that he does'nt coach. He is a great guy but when it comes to prac. it would be nice if every once in a while we could learn something. Don't get me wrong, I love the Skills Circle; it's a great way to warm up, just not the best way to practice. Now back to the actual topic...

I played with Grant Paule's Div. 1 men's league team this past year and he's still an amazing player but I would'nt go as far as to say he's the best player out of TN. And yes, he did stop playing soccer at the University of Memphis, not sure why though. Naming the best player ever is way too hard to break down. My vote would have to go towards Cindy Parlow though. Ross Paule is good but he has not acheived what Parlow has.

Is Christian Brothers having their Invitational Tournament again this year? If so are you guys invited and do you think that you could let me know the schedule? I would really love to come watch everyone play. That would be some great soccer. -Chris Cates

I don't doubt that Matt is a very well balanced player. But you have to understand that there are about 4,000 soccer players in TN (All Divisions). I play for Cordova and I had the opportunity to play Bearden at state so my opinion is not derived from he said she said. In Memphis alone I could name about 10 players or more that are a lot better at soccer then Matt. Yes, there is no doubt in my mind that he could hang with the best of them, but a lot of us can, and there is a huge difference in playing with the best and being the best. One player for example was Dayton O'Brien. He played for ECS last year and was heavily recruited. He signed with Memphis University (University of Memphis). During his senior year of high school he was suspended from 3 games for participating in the C-USA pre-season tournament where he was awarded MVP of the entire tournament. Imagine that, senior in high school beating out the best of Div. 1 players in a C-USA tournament. I could name all the other awards that he has received (includes Matt's achievments and more) but there is really no need to. In conclusion, Matt is a very good player and he diserves everything that comes his way. But I would not go as far as to say that he is the best player in TN.

I don't see ECS having a very good season this year at all. They had an okay season last year and that was only because they had Dayton O'Brien. Well he's gone now so I don't see very many good things from them. Although they could surprise everyone! [Edited by CCates05 on 11-28-02 7:45P]

I never said that we were a powerhouse. Cordova is far from a powerhouse, and you gotta remember that we to are a new school. I was just stating that they are not going to be as good as they have been in previous years.

I play for Cordova and I will have to disagree with you soccerplaya7. West TN soccer teams have been getting a lot of recegnition for a while now. As stated before Houston High won state a few years in a row and were #1 in the nation for a couple of years. I will say that these forums are based more on East TN but that is only because most of the members are from the east. Oh and I would not consider JCM to be one of the most well known teams in west TN.

I love the fact that you consider Cordova as one of the "Good Memphis Teams". People used to use Houston as the example. Things have changed and Houston is not going to be the team they have been in previous years. They lost a lot of what they had and have'nt gained anything back.

What team does he play for? Also what teams do you think will be on top for the 2003 season?

I don't see Houston having a very good team this year. Last year was one of their worst seasons ever and they lost the few good players they had. Bearden has their team over loaded once again so you know they will be good. As you stated before though, we will see just how good they are after the regular season.

I go to Cordova and I read somewhere that the University of Memphis will povide dorm rooms for the traveling teams, which should take care of the high hotel costs. I'm not sure how much it will cost but if anything it will be very reasonable. We will see you at state!
