Defense wins championships!!! With that being said if either of these two teams plan on winning a state championship it will come on the defensive side of the ball. Each of these two teams run 4 plays
Huntingdon- off tackle left, off tackle right, sweep left, sweep right
UC- midline left, midline right, veer left, veer right
That is why i hope this is a low scoring defensive battle, because if it is not then neither one of these teams has a chance in winning a state championship. I think the defenses will be ready to play thanks to the early meeting between the two teams. So here is a football fan hoping for a good old fashion defensive battle that is ugly and has a lot of punts, because if it is not i do not believe that either team will bring the gold ball back to West Tennessee.

Congrats to Chris Crockett for all the fine work he has done in Union City... You need to check out the baseball field too... The transformation that he has done with it is also amazing....

Was McKenzie not in AA in 2001 and 2002 when they made the semi-finals in back to back years???

If dresden was any good you would have beat HALLS and would now be in the playoffs, but since you LOST TO HALLS... now you have to pray that Marion Co loses so you can make the playoffs. To bad McKenzie and Huntingdon will be in the playoffs and DRESDEN will be sitting at home.

Coach told me that your defense switched between the 5-3 and the split 4 occassionaly throughout the night... has this been the main two defenses for the champions this year or do you think that was just the game plan for the run heavy wing t?

From what i heard the "ole miss" scouts were very impressed with the Cascade football team. Lots of Playmakers on the edge and at RB and a QB who is more than capable of getting them the ball... Defense looked good but hard to tell much because of the good ole wing t and the fact that Moore Co was clearly just not as good as cascade...Good Luck during the playoffs! Hopefully we will have a mckenzie vs cascade matchup in the semis

I heard that the starting fullback got hurt last game and JB had to bring in #5 to replace him at fullback. any truth to this?

Are both teams healthy for this game? has anyone been injured in the playoffs? from what it sounds like this will be a close game and a new starter may make the difference.

Looks like they would have kept Greenfield in the other district with Gleason. etc..
i dont count nonfootball schools such as bradford......
not really because in that district you have
big sandy, clarksburg, and carroll academy that do not have football

If what Chip says is unofficial then Greenfield would most likely go into a unofficial district as such:
Union City A
Greenfield A
Trenton AA
South Fulton A
Humboldt AA
South Gibson High (Medina) AA
Which is about what is left out of the NW Tn teams in the Z plan.

By looking at this region ,it looks like Greenfield will be seperated from Gleason..That probably leaves Lake Co,Union City,South Fulton and maybe Halls in the other..

Adamsville, Middleton, Riverside, TCA, and Scotts Hill. The other two are South Gibson and Madison neither of which have football. Official!

What i was saying about the field is that it is in terrible shape. Pot holes, dirt, sand and 5 in. grass. The Memphis officiating plays favorites when an out of town team rolls in. Special Teams will be pivotal. I said Manassas would score 30, because the go for two every time. This could be the best game of the four. I dont really know who I want to win, I just want an injury free, good football game.
As far as the officiating goes even the T$$AA is not stupid enough to let memphis refs call this one it is a rule that neither teams home association can not call the playoff game.
McKenzie uses the North West association and Manassas obviously uses memphis association.
So my guess is that the refs will come from the South West aka Jackson.... unless they bus them from nashville or clarksville and you never know with the T$$AA.

i dont think gleason will win but it will be close at the half... the big question will be if gleason can stop the TCA quarterback because i believe gleasons offense is good enough to score 3 TDs

UC will be the only team to possibly make it out of the first round. and that is no guarentee.
Not so fast my friend!!!!! i see it the other way around TCA will be the only team to win out of region 8 and gleason will make it closer than the experts think!!!!!!!!

Another thing do you think the TSSAA could possibly leave Gleason, Greenfield, Lake Co, South Fulton, Union City, Dresden together and Add Humboldt and Trenton Peabody???? thats a 9 team district / region i think they may split those teams up

Region 7A is a down as a whole. Lake County and Bruceton are not near as good as usual but McKenzie and Union City are up.
When you shake it all out, I believe it will be McKenzie vs Union City in the quarter final. The winner probably gets Wayne County or Mt. Pleasant in semi finals. I kinda feel like McKenzie might get them second time around.
McKenzie has improved a lot throughout the season which is due to good coaching and they are finally getting healthy. The started the year with some guys bunged up but since their return the ground game has gotten better and better.
McKenzie and Union City are totally different offensively. UC runs that veer that has given everyone trouble in West Tennessee. That said I think the power running attack that McKenzie is working on this year makes them a better opponent for South Pittsburg, than last years team. South Pitt has speed, and can stop passing and sweeps, but the teams in the past that have given them problems, according to what has been said even by their coach last year, are those ones who line down and run it right at them. They are usually not real big in the line, but really quick.
I am not from Mc or UC but I believe one of these two schools is going to the big dance.
We'll see.
On November 14 you will be thinking to yourself this man is a genius....no disrespect to region 8 i just think those two teams are better.....and a little side note i am not from mck or uc either

I was worried Halls would get caught in the split for AA but we made it into A by about six schools...whew!!!
From the looks of it, Region 8A is completely gone except for Halls:
Fayette - DII
TCA and Middleton - AA
Manassas - AAA
Does anybody think Huntingdon will petition to go back to AA or stay in A with the other West TN schools: us, Greenfield, Gleason, Lake County, South Fulton, Bruceton, West Carroll and Union City?

You are smoking something if you do not think union city and mckenzie will be playing each other in round 3 both teams will coast thru the first two rounds of the playoffs!!!!!!!!

Coaches always trade the last two game films. It is not a random lottery nor do the other coaches get to pick. It just so happened that West Carroll and Greenfield are the last two games that Peabody has played. Come on I thought you were smarter than that.
