  1. As Mr. B mentioned and others, the reason why midstate can't compete with Memphis is because of work ethic. Today, if you go to a community center in Nashville, TN, you will not find a soul with a basketball working on their game. As far as combining, its a very good idea. IF you decide to make this plan work, the key component of doing this is EXPOSURE. YOMCA,Memphis Pump N' Run, and Midstate Ballerz all play in bigtime exposure tourneys. There are alot of kids who had the talent to play D-1, but didn't play in any exposure tourneys. That's why some of the states best players flock to travel teams because of endorsements and what a Nike, Reebok, Adidas team has to offer, which is free travel and many bigtime tourneys. Good luck because it can be a beautiful site. Midstate, Thunder, Stallions, doin a great job this summer. Memphis in general, keep reppin. You guys are havin great summers.

  2. We are coaches looking for 11 and under players to join the Tennessee Elite program. This is a first year program that plans to let the kids receive exposure and emphasize the importance of being a student athlete. Looking for the players in the Tennessee area who are looking for an AAU Team. If intersested u could contact us at (615) 830-7393 and (615) 438-4785

  4. Well, I know its kind of early to be writing this but the basketball in the state of Tennessee is coming to a close. It's been one heck of a year of basketball. It started off strong over the summer with Midstate Ballerz Elite and Memphis Y reppin Tennessee in the top 25 in the nation, also not leaving out Memphis Bulldogs, BAM, Nashville Stallions, MLK, Midstate Select, and others. Then the Memphis Magic 15-under let the nation know who was the best by winning the AAU National Tourney with talented Maurice Miller leading the way. The national rankings were full of TN representatives. I think its the most I've seen for a very long time. Anyway, I'm a senior and I'm heading off to college and playing college ball, which is my lifegoal dream. One thing I would like to see is some TN representatives make the McDonald's All-American team or some national prestigious all-star game. Another thing I would like to see is a team from the midstate win the state tourney. Not a knock on Memphis, because ya'll have mad love for the game. But its time for middle tn to step up to Memphis and challenge them. I know the future looks bright for the Tennessee talent... B.Wright, W.Kemp, T.Young, P.Niles, etc. BUT THERE IS ONE THING THAT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE MOST IN THE STATE OF TENNESSEE. AND THAT IS TO NOT TALENT GO TO WASTE. WORK AS HARD ON ACADEMICS AS YOU WOULD SHOOT 500 JUMP SHOTS A DAY. THERE ARE SO MANY EXAMPLES OF GREAT TALENT BUT NO ACADEMICS. STAY FOCUS AND BE A STUDENT FIRST.... ATHLETE SECOND.

  5. As mentioned before, Tennessee is starting to become a downhill program. They have so many athletes but they don't play smart. Hopefully Tyler, Matthew, and maybe Jamont can turn that program around.

Memphis is a hotbed for basketball talent. The only thing that hurts Memphis is their academics. Losing Sean Banks was a big loss for the team, but Darius Washington has become more aggressive. He's one of the top freshman in the nation.

Vanderbilt can't close on the elite caliber players because the academic standards are too high. That's not a knock on Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt recruits more of the student-athletes, which is what the NCAA needs more than anything.

  6. A- Don't know too much about single A players. I'm going with Doaks only because I've witnessed him play with Midstate. Great athlete for a big man. Also heard that the Skogen kid was pretty nice...

AA- Gotta give it to T.Smith. Produced 4 strong years of basketball. Too bad he came up short. Kemp is an automatic lock for it next year.

AAA- Delk had it lock up ever since the breakout performance against arguably one of the top teams in the NATION in Fairley. (Even though Fairly is not ranked, they should've been.)

DII- Brandan Wright. Name speaks for itself.

  7. First off, congrats to T. Smith for being nominated. Hopefully, he will be honored as a member of the McDonalds All-American team. Tyler, keep playing hard like its your last possession. You are a tremendous player and I know you can turn that Tennessee program around. I had fun playing against you and our team had fun playing against you. Hopefully, we can take that enthusiasm of playing you into the district tourney. Stay in those books, I know your dad is on top of you about that. Way to represent Giles County and TENNESSEE. Keep your head high and I'll be lookin for you in UT.

One more thing, Torye and Jimmy said whatup.

  8. Gomab,

Crenshaw has developed an outside game. He's really improved and the kid has alot of heart. He's averaging an estimate of 25-30 points a game. The kid can score. Crenshaw is also a strong rebounder and loves to get up and down the floor. One more thing, he gets to the free throw line more than anybody I know of. You gotta keep an eye out on this guy. Keep doin what you doin. You're doin a great job

  9. Powerhouse Oak Hill Academy lost to Homewood-Floosmoor, which features top notch All-American Julian Wright. Yesterday, they beat Jackson Lanier by 14 (94-80), but let All-American wing and Mississippi State signee Monta Ellis scorch them for 48 points. Is Oak Hill the best in the nation? Give some opinions.

  10. guys like somebody else said it was a scrimmage.you scrimmage to work on getting better not wins and losses, never heard anyone winning the state in a pre-season scrimmage!

As mentioned earlier, it's just a scrimmage, but it was great. The play of both teams were great and it was very entertaining. Tyler showed people that he deserves to be top dog in the state and Maplewood showed their intensity by not backing down from GC. The game had lots of dunks. Torye Pelham threw down monsterous dunks. He will be a force. Both teams were great. It was a little taste of what the season holds.

  11. Perspective Player(s):

Team Tenn. 17:U is going to Houston, Texas to play in the Kingwood Classic,

April 23-25. I need a junior center and power forward. You will have an opportunity to play. If you are playing with an existing AAU team, please have your coach call me. You can play in the classic and return to your AAU team. We finished second in the bronze division last year (check website at www.visionsports.com). Call John Richardson at 615-416-3109 or

email jrichardson@nespower.com. I have a direct contact with Josh Pastner, Director of Basketball Operations for Arizona University. He will be there.
