  1. Scores from 5/8

    Houston beat Wooddale.

    Ridgeway beat Kingsbury 2-1

    Collierville beat Central 1-0

Anyone know who won the White Station vs Germantown game?

    Germantown 2 White Station 1

White Station scored first with only three minutes left in regulation after a brilliant assist pass from Todd Williams to Navid Jarfari. Germantown attacked with everything and the White Station defense was not prepared for the overload of attacking players. With only 2 minutes left in regulation, Charlie Phillip scored from an equally brilliant assist by Chris Foreman. Now 1-1, White Station missed a free kick to win, and Germantown player Chris Foreman hit Yusuf Berro for the game winner with only 1 minute to play. Germantown exhaulted and White Station players laid on the field in tears... Great match to watch... great game...

  2. i guess rain washed out most games

because there are not that many results

  3. Coach Wally was very kind to post about a low time for his team. It is very informative and why this website is so interesting. Many players and coaches should read his words to see how a good coach uses a bad situation as a teaching tool for future success.

I, for one, don't like teams playing four games in a weekend. Try to imagine your high school football team playing back to back games on the same day and four games in a weekend. You would have a tractor-trailer full of linemen heading for the emergency room if that happened...

  4. District play:

    Houston 2-0-2

    Ridgeway 1-2-0

    Germantown 0-1-2

    White Station 1-1-1

    Collierville 1-1-1

    Collierville vs Germantown 4/28

    Ridgeway vs White Station 4/28

Anyone know anything about the games vs Woodale. They are counted as district games. White Station and Ridgewaybot play Woodale, which would most likely give them another win in the district.??

Actually, by points the district would stand like this at this moment... next games will be big for brackets with tight race...

    Houston 2 W 2 T

    White Station 1 W 1T

    Collierville 1W `1T

    Ridgeway 1W

    Germantown 0W 2T

    Wooddale??

White Station beat Wooddale 4-0 early in year. I don't know about other teams?? Good question...

  5. [Mjuhb, fan based polls don't have near the research that you do. You may be wrong about some of your things from time to time, but you put a LOT of thought into it. I still don't know why eurosport doesn't have their poll up yet.

I'm extremely impressed with the Mjuhb Tennessee high school soccer weeking rankings. If 3-6 Mafia can win an academy award, then Mjuhb should win one for best rankings in a state high school soccer season! :thumb:

  6. Jon Williams? He's a great player. I watched him play for the unvbelievable CBHS team in 2003, and also played against hime 2 years ago (I play for King now) You just seem to know your stuff and you are very unbiased. To your younger son I say good luck on a speedy recovery and I hope he goes on to live his college dream.

Yeah, that's the bum... thanks for the kind words, hope King is doing well also...if you hang around long enough, you find good soccer players all over this state now... so hopefully more good refs are on the way in the future to cover this growing sport here.

  7. I agree. No practice or training can simulate reffing a game. And parents seem to be a large part of the problem. Are you a former player wmsmphs? If so, where in Memphis did you play?

No, I'm an old soccer dad who enters scores of any teams I learn about on Eurosportscoreboard.com with my free time to help any high school report their scores along with CoachT when I can. My oldest son played at CBHS from 2000 to 2003. He started out on CoachT until he went off to college to play at Lincoln Memorial.

My younger son is a senior player at White Station but is recovering from a hamstring injury against Rossview just before the season started and has only played a few minutes this season. He is really cranky right now. Tried to play in ECS game on Thursday and hobbled off the field after a couple of minutes completely frustrated.

Tried to come back too soon. He wanted to be back for Houston next week, but doesn't look good right now. Hope to see him play before the year ends, but at least he will play for Alabama Huntsville in college. He wants to help his high school team, but just can't. Never take your health for granted! Appreciate running against the wind in the days of your youth, because you never know when the last day you put your boots on will come!

I was asked to ref many years ago due to no available refs for young teams. I had no license and no idea what I was doing. The parents had no sympathy for me, they screamed and protested constantly. It is not an easy job and it takes training and experience. Believe me, I found out. I still wonder how I kept from punching out some parents that day. Thank goodness for communion!

  8. I agree with some previous statements. Having reffed even small players, it is still difficult. My hats off to these guys who have actual jobs and ref in their spare time. It is harder than it looks, and I agree that no one knows them if they did well, but a few bad calls and everyone is hating. Everyone makes mistakes, and believe me I have ridden my fair share of referees.

I saw a match where a young teen was working the line and called offsides when the defense was switching the field. The boy was confused and obviously new. The parents went ballistic on him as usual and several of us told them to shut up and leave the kid alone. The center overruled him and talked with him later. Parents were still grumbling to the parking lot.

Yes, a little more field training for new refs would help so much, and a little more patience from parents would help the turnover problems with refs quitting.

Experience takes time on the job, and you just can't teach it in a book.

  9. You only listed two teams for AAA and A/AA? You listed 8 for DII. I would say that the public school divisions are much more wide open this year. CBHS looks as though they will dominate DII. I understand that DII is not easy to dominate, but if anyone will do it, it's this years CBHS team.

From what I've seen, there are at least a half dozen teams that will compete for the AAA and A/AA titles respectively.

I only listed two teams in A/AA and AAA because I feel it is still wide open at this time. You misunderstood my post. DII is much more predictable, although MBA is gaining serious ground in my respect column right now.

  10. what are you guy's picks for the state tourney in all classifications now? any changes from preseason?

    AAA

    Brentwood

    Hendersonville

everything else is up for grabs right now.

    DII

    CBHS

    BGA

    MUS

    McCallie

    Father Ryan

    MBA

    Baylor

    ECS

    A/AA

    Knox. Catholic

    CAK

    everything else up for grabs

  11. Are Jasper's soccer foot skills anything like his football foot skills? The guy was Mr. Football as a junior and has a heck of a leg! The guy can kick the football and from what I have read will probably get an SEC education from it.

Lowder is Mr. Soccer and Jasper is Mr. Football, but Josh is a talented soccer player also. His time is divided and kicking a Football is his greatest gift overall. I would put Josh in the top ten soccer players in the state. If Ridgeway is successful, it will be due to Josh. He should definitely be an All-State soccer selection.

I have not seen a more complete soccer player than Lowder in my humble opinion from Memphis.

  12. This week's Commercial Appeal News Memphis Metro area Top 5 Soccer teams:

    1 CBHS

    2 MUS

    3 Houston

    4 Ridgeway

    5 White Station

The 4 and 5 spots have been rotating all year between Ridgeway, Germantown, Collierville, ECS, and now White Station. Teams other than CBHS keep beating or drawing each other driving the sportswriters crazy. :)

  13. Regular season only determines the district brackets. The district tourney should be the most exciting in years. Advantage to the teams that end up on the opposite side of Houston in the brackets to get a chance to advance to sectionals...

  14. CBHS 2 Germantown 1

CBHS scored two early goals off assists from Eric Taylor to Ricky Character and Matt Phlade. Germantown scored on a PK in the last minutes of the match to cut the deficit to only a goal, but it was not enough as CBHS moved to 7-0-0 on the year while Germantown falls to 1-2-1.

  15. White Station 3 Collierville 2

Back and forth competitive game. White Station went up 2-0 and then Collierville scored twice to even. Late in game a Collierville score was ruled off-side. Then White Station scored with only minutes to go to win the match 3-2. Very evenly played match.

    White Station is now 5-1-0

    Collierville is now 6-5-0

  16. West TN scores

    3/21/06

    CBHS 16 Harding 0

    3/23/06

    Houston 10 Bolton 1

    Collierville 6 Cordova 2

    MUS 3 Ridgeway 1

    Germantown 2 Briarcrest 1

Tonight White Station vs. CBHS. White Station might give CBHS a tough game, but since they lost Alabama-Huntsville signee Todd Williams to torn hamstring in Rossview scrimmage, they have lost a key multi-position senior and will need some underclassmen to step up. CBHS is deep as always.

CBHS appears to be very talented as usual along with Houston, MUS, and Collierville in the west right now.

  17. For the most part I think they are cheering for the hard play not the injury.

Not sure in this situation, but I have seen definite cheering and celebration over injuring an opponect. Yellow cards become prized trophies. People in mass turn into animals in a rabid wolfpack at the site of drawing blood. The sideline becomes a thousand fire-red eyes of hatred with the sounds of the dark angel's wings flapping just above in glee.

  18. I'm a proponent of sportsmanship and playing hard. We are capable as players and coaches to play with respect against each other without a mercy rule. I think playing is more important than the score. It is how we conduct ourselves that matters.

I saw a game a couple years ago where a team was up 8-0 at the half. In the second half, the stronger team was told to clear the ball towards the weaker team's sweeper/goalie and just play defense to keep the scores down.

The first ball cleared landed between the weaker team's sweeper and goalie and they ran into each other as the ball rolled in the goal for a 50 yard goal. Now it is 9-0.

Then the ball was cleared to the weak team's sweeper who panic kicked it right into his stopper's back and it rebounded into their own goal. 10-0.

Then a cleared ball was sent to the weak team's sweeper. Our forward pressed him and he turned and passed back to his keeper quickly, but the keeper was taking a drink of water and had to leap to save it from an own goal...just missed it. 11-0.

The stronger team abandoned the clearing tactic to keep the scores down.

  19. RE: Lopsided Games

    Some thoughts to consider-

If a team chooses to play 110% to the final whistle- it is their right to do so. It is not illegal and should not be considered wrong as per the rules of the game.

Some believe in a different philosophy regarding this issue. They believe that a higher standard is available as an optional priority. This group believes in an old forgotten word called "Sportsmanship." To this shrinking society, sportsmanship overrides winning. Yes, sportsmanship overrides winning. This group would rather lose a game than win without sportsmanship. This group chooses not to run up the score- because they don't have too. This group would kick a ball out of bounds with an open net if the goalie was injured, rather than score the winner as the object of the game. Because without sportsmanship, winning is meaningless.

Many think those who show sportsmanship are weak, but it is sportsmanship that is the strongest player on the field always. It is noble to play 110% always, but it is better to play 110% with sportsmanship as the first priority. Something to think about.

  20. I hear they got better than last year, but still their key players seem to be that monster Brackley kid and dillon hall

    White Station scrimmage results

    White Station 2 Central 1

    White Station 1 MUS 2

    White Station 4 Germantown 0

White Station 3 Nashville Stratford 1

    White Station 1 Shelbyville 0

    White Station 2 Rossview 0

Top players in scrimmages were Alex Brumell(sp?), Todd Williams, Collin Thompson, Nick Brackley, and Dillon Hall. Todd Williams(Alabama-Huntsville signee) was injured in Rossview game, status is unknown.
