  1. Dude the number two hitter went 4 for 4 with a rbi, the #4 hitter went 3 for 4 with 3rbi and the # 9 hitter had a rbi single. So not sure what you are talking about 4 runs on errors. The other point you make is totally true, Camden left all them runners on base so I would think YOU are the week hitting team!!!!!!! Period. Spring Hill may not go all the way or they may do well, the bottom line is they are in the state playoffs and Camden is not so DEAL WITH IT. Stop trying to be a ESPN analyst and go talk to somebody if need be and DEAL WITH IT. So in closing go back to your POE DUNK city park little league field and deal with it. Have a good day and good luck to Camden next year. GO SPRING HILL!!!

Just because your guys had hits that drove in runs does not preclude them from being unearned runs. You are a little too sensitive. Your team is good or they would not have gotten this far. Noone said they were not good. That includes mkd24.

  2. Kenwood had a female kicker several years back who was good. If my memory serves me correctly she won a second or third round game with a last second field goal around 40 yards. No idea what her season scoring stats were like. I think she was a big kid. Six footish and 160 to 170 and not fat.

Just saw that Elizabethton beat Austin East tonight 14-13. Is it too much of a stretch to think that she hit both her extra points and the A-E kicker missed one that cost the game?

  3. Come on titanman, how can you not count the one game we beat yall? That would be like saying we don't count the game from 2007 because the mustangs killed us.

This should be a great game. It's suppossed to be a little warmer friday, should be a perfect night. Can't wait to watch this old rivalry game.

Hopefully this will be the best fan turnout of the season.

I simply meant the game was not a "classic" since it was one-sided. All the other games had been fairly competitive and entertaining. Don't worry it still goes down as Giles County's first win against the Mustangs

  4. Looking forward to another trip down to Giles County. We miss playing you guys every year. There were some classic meetings for four years. I don't count last year since we got boat-raced and were not in the game. Your stadium is awesome and the best restaurant (Hickory House) of any road trip we make.

On paper, this looks like a good game. Giles has a better record; but, Lipscomb has played a considerably more difficult schedule. Hopefully, we can shake off the malaise that surrounded us for four quarters last week and make it a good game. Can't wait to be in Pulaski on Friday night.

  5. Careful before you rename our field. Show me a field that has been used in the past few weeks that isn't a marsh. (Please don't mention MBA)

Great game under less than desirable conditions, a wet field with a falling midst. No excuses here. DL did what they had to do at the end of the game. Congratulations. Still proud of the Lions.

All thing considered the CPA field could be a lot worse. I think this is their third varsity game on that field in rain. Who knows about JV or younger games. Did you not see the Maplewood game on TV? At Lipscomb, we have had lucky timing on having to play rain games. Only one game with somewhat wet conditions.

CPA people, who is recruiting the Fisher kid. Very impressive at safety and will hit you. He takes great angles to the ball and always seems to be in position. If his speed is 4.4 or 4.5 he could be recruited by the big guys. It was hard to tell his actual speed under those conditions.

  6. There's some good news and some bad news for Page in this one. The good news is it's your best chance to date to beat DL. Lipscomb loses the record setting place kicker, punter, and eighteen starters. The bad news is that the young kids got a lot of valuable minutes last year when the leads were big. My prediction in this one is Lipscomb 33-13.

One other bit of bad news, I guess, Lipscomb finally has some size.

  7. MC, whining doesn't become you. Your guys hit some awesome threes. Be glad they had you where you were. Your big guy fouling out definitely hurt you. But, he probably had at least three other fouls they did not call. He needs to learn to play defense with his feet and not his hands. He also needs to learn how to protect the ball on the dribble without pushing off with his other arm. These officials let him do it every time, some will not. Great talent though and will only get better over the next two years. Lack of bench strength was a killer for MC in the fourth.

The officials probably did miss a few calls. This just in, several went against Lipscomb as well. The whole thing in the fourth quarter was done at a frantic pace. Your guys didn't handle that too well. Keep in mind that it is just as frantic a pace for the officials and they are not nearly as young as the players. That is one of the first times I have ever seen officials look visibly tired.

How did 23 not make the all-tournament team? He singly kept you guys going. My hat is off to him.

Enough said. Good luck on Monday.

  8. As a Lipscomb fan, I know nothing of Catholic. However, I've seen Mitchell three times over the years and twice in the last 16 games.

They are very big. Offensive line averages 306 lbs a man. A different kid on the d-line, the nose guard is 372 or so. They are good running the ball straight ahead. Couldn't go wide at all. They quit trying after the first four or five times went poorly. Slant pattern to number 7 is good play. They only threw over the middle one time and our guy dropped what would have been a returned interception. All passes are short and to the side. Athleticism makes them yards after the catch. Kicking game has improved; but, still not what I would call great.

Their approach to playing has improved greatly. They did have two late hits five yards out of bounds; but, overall played much better as far as mistakes go. Penalties and stupid things were really cut down from prior meetings. Overall they played solid football.

Note to Mitchell coaching staff: when receiving a punt you are allowed to play with eleven players. I didn't count on the first punt when our longsnapper airmailed the ball. However, on the other three punt plays you lined up with nine, ten and ten players. Now that you've done that on film, it would probably be best to rectify that situation.

  9. I notice Mr. Milam that Malone WAS ATTEMPTING extra points last week for Mitchell against Dyersburg...He didn't do it this week?.....Also what did Malone do...I told everybody that THAT KID WILL PLAY ON SUNDAY if something doesn't go wrong...Talked to a recruiter and he told me that Lawson was going to be rated one of the top recruits in the country for 2010....And BTW what did Zach Rogers do?....He is the real deal.....How did he fare against Mitchell?...

They were attempting extra points this week too. They missed one and it kind of got them out of sync.

Congratulations to Mitchell. You played a very good game without the charastic penalties and other mistakes.

O line averaged over 300 lbs and wore us down over the game. Another D lineman weighed over 370. That is hard for us to deal with. I was expecting a little more from your passing game after all we heard from the Dyersburg game. Lipscomb dropped two interceptions right in our guys hands. It might have changed things, who knows. We also contributed a gimme touchdown on the bad snap about 10 feet over the punters head.

The answer to the helmet tossing question is: they throw helmets in jubilation as well as frustration. At least noone was hit this time.

Good luck to Mitchell!! Go beat Catholic.

  10. Titanman, hey what about that Brett Farve Sunday night? Oh wait a minute this is a high school football blog. Nevermine. I support public schools over private schools every time. If you do not like this you had better muzzle yourself. You would not have to miss any of our players if DL would be willing to schedule a game with us next year. If you would like to give me a muzzle, why don't you bring it on down to Giles? Look forward to seeing you then. This is Mitchell's thread, so I hope you play hard and win Friday night. I don't know that much about your team, but I have read good things on here. Good luck.

    Wrong Titans... Oh well!!

I won't antagonize you again. You promised you'd go away. Are you a person of your word?

  11. That game is over. I am supporting Mitchell now. Would you like to contribute a ticket too?

I won't contribute a ticket; but, there is a muzzle at the house I'll give you.

Your team lost. They had a great year and a very bright future. You have one very special player who we'll miss watching next year. Don't whine about other people's good fortune. Help get your team ready for a special 09 season.

  12. Bulldog, don't waste your time with this guy. I know him. For those who are interested in the playoff info on Page and Catholic:

Page has been to the playoffs 9 times. They have an 8-9 record and have played 10 different teams. They have advanced twice to the semifinal game in 97 and 98 losing both times to Melrose.

Catholic has been to the playoffs 17 times. They have an 13-17 record and have played 20 different teams. (9 years of the 17, they entered the playoffs in the (*) asterix division or what we call D-II. Catholic has not advanced to the semifinal game as a member of Division I. In Divison II or the * division they lost in the finals in 2003 to BGA and lost in the semifinal in 2003 to Briarcrest. In the *asterix divison, you can play 2 games and play in the state championship game.

vandy1, can I assume from your comments that easttnfootballexpert is a Catholic guy. He wouldn't bother to reply when I asked.

  13. There is no moving target. Simply put .....Mitchell has not been able to prove they have beat anyone from outside of region 7-8.....meaning they haven't had any quality wins IN FOOTBALLL over here or anywhere else.

Your ignorance of Region 5 is....well..ignorant... If you look back a little further you would have seen Greenbrier who represented us for two yrs over there and you lost both years. Does anybody from the Memphis area know anything about any football teams from the rest of the state

Dyersburg had played THREE 0-10 schools this year

How many teams has Mitchell beat that have had winning records?

This can be a bad matchup for Mitchell this year if they can't run the ball. Put it in the air and see what happens.

    bulldog69

I am a region 5 guy also. Very proud of how this region has done against the other western guys. Especially proud of my Mustangs. In the four years we were in this region I think it has been represented well by Giles Co., Cheatham Co., Marshall Co., Creekwood, and yes, your Page Patriots.

Mitchell has, however, played a very good schedule. They may be 8-5; but, of their 13 games, 11 of their opponents made the playoffs. Five of them advanced past the first round. The other two opponents were, as you might guess, 0-10. Like I said earlier, they were the best team we played last year.

    easttnfootballexpert

Who spawned your perverted view of TN high school football? Which team do you follow?

  14. I might would disagree with the QB comment. Brandon Janco of Goodpasture had a great arm for high school football.

Decent quarterback in Janco. Not in the league with Ken Torry though.

I would rate Bo Wallace better than Janco too. Different type of quarterback; but, gifted. Not a great thrower but really runs the option well. As good as he is at quarterback, he looks like a college safety to me. A really good one.

  15. highschoolking obviously must have been inhaling with the rest of potheads we kept smelling during the game.

I would like to thank tnsprtsfn1 for setting the record straight on the score. Mitchell only led for a couple of minutes in the whole game. They scored with two something minutes left to go up 18-13. This is what actually happened highschoolking despite your ranting.

You also like to cry about officiating. Your team probably did get penalized more in the game. It is because they have almost no discipline. That comes from coaching; but, then you wouldn't have experienced that.

I will take nothing from your team though; they were the best team we played last year. Substantially better than Fulton. This despite what easttnfootballexpert thinks. He still thinks football was invented somewhere east of the plateau. Your quarterback is the best qb we have faced in the playoffs in the last seven years for sure.

  16. Giles County players and coaches, you have my utmost respect. You came to play and executed well. You kept us frustrated most of the night. I didn't realize we could get inside another teams 10 that many times and not get a touchdown. Your D gave up quite a few yards; but, made the plays you needed at the right times. You simply outplayed us most of the night.

Your only mistake in the end was scoring too fast and leaving a couple of minutes. It ultimately came down to us being able to pass a little better. If we didn't have two other receivers (other than Zach) who are better than most this would have been a different game. You stuffed Zach tonight better than anyone has in the last two years.

One thing I think helped Lipscomb at the end was simply they've been there before. We were down just like that in last years semifinal. We've been very fortunate the last seven seasons to play a lot of games. Most Lipscomb fans take it for granted at this point. Tonight was our 102nd game in the last seven years. Think about that. You are only guaranteed 70 in that time frame. Experience is just invaluable.

Your guy Bo Wallace was awesome tonight. As good as he is at quarterback; I think he looked even better at safety.

    Congraulations on a great season!

  17. Historically, Lipscomb posters have ruled the CoachT thread leading up to the game. During that same stretch, the Mustangs have captured 2 State Championships and 3 State Runner-Ups. If you have some facts that point to the opposite, please share.

Since I am new to 3A, could you help me out ahapplet? Has Lipscomb lost a game to a region opponent since there move to 3A?

Since moving to 3A, Lipscomb has not lost a region game. The only losses were in the championship game to Livingston Academy and Fulton

  18. Let's take an analytical approach to this game.

Lexington has played opponents with a combined record of 58-57, or winning percentage of .504. Lipscomb has played opponents with a combined record of 52-63, or a winning percentage of .452. Advantage Lexington

Lexington has played seven games to date against teams that made the playoffs. Two in 4A, four in 3A and one in 1A. None survived the first round of the playoffs. Lipscomb has played five games to date against teams that made the playoffs. One in 2A and four in 3A. Three continue on into the second round. Advantage Lexington on the number of playoff teams. Advantage Lipscomb on the success of the teams that did make it.

Lexington has outscored its opponents by a combined 314-287. Lipscomb has outscored its opponents by a combined 430-138. Advantage Lipscomb

Lexington was 4-2 at home and 3-2 on the road. Lipscomb was 6-0 at home and 5-0 on the road. Advantage Lipscomb, although Lexington seems to bring a large crowd.

One common opponent in the year, which is Chester County. It was a Lexington homecoming game and win by a 34-28 margin. Evidently, Colton Taylor played in this game. Neighborhood rivalry and I'm sure a war. My guess is starters probably played the entire game since outcome was six points. Lipscomb was up 41-0 on Chester County when starters were pulled. I guess advantage Lipscomb, although it is hard to put much stock in one common opponent game played six weeks apart.

Injury situation should be big. Colton Taylor will be back for Lexington; but, will his effectiveness be 100%. I do not know of other Lex injuries due to lack of familiarity with team. Lipscomb lost best running, Harrison Daniel in week five. He is done for the year. Lipscomb has Rogers for defensive purposes. Relatively healthly otherwise. I think advantage Lexington.

Should be a great game. My prediction later in the week.
