  1. Should we fly the confederate flag at football game?WELL NOW THATS A GOOD QUESTION, I THOUGHT WE STILL DID. What relatives of the coaching staff get in free to games. THATS AN EASY QUESTION, ANYONE WHO IS WILLING TO CLAIM HIM AS A FAMILY MEMEBER. Just spouses? NO NOT ALL THE SPOUSES, I DON'T WANT ALL MY EX-WIVES THERE ITS HARD ENOUGH DEALING WITH THE CROWD WITHOUT THEM ON MY BACK. Should cousins get in free also? YEA COUSINS SHOULD GET IN. SOME OF THEM ARE MY BEST ASSISTANT COACHES. What if they are the same person? OH NO, ALL EX-WIVES WHO ARE ALSO COUSINS HAVE TO PAY TO GET IN (I GOTTA GET MY ALIMONEY BACK SOMEHOW) Should confederate money be allowed to be used at the concession stand? ONLY IF IT HAS LEE OR JACKSON ON THE FRONT. DON'T WANT TO LOWER OUR STANDARDS TOO MUCH. Should words such as Y'all and "Fixin to" be allowed to be spoken? WELL NOW THEY SHOULD BE USED ONLY IF YOU WANT THE CROWD TO KNOW WHATS GOIN ON. Should we really even have scoreboards since the majority of the population can't read anyway? YES WE SHOULD THATS WHERE MY KINFOLK HAVE THEIR TAILGATE PARTY AND THE LIGHTS KEEP THE BUGS OFF THE FOOD.

I SHOULDN'T A DONE THAT BUT I JUST COULD NOT PASS UP ENTERTAINING MYSELF.

Well said, and I didn't know that I was your cousin. Tobacco is nasty, especially in trash cans when you lift out the sack and it drips on your pant leg. I have seen GOKARS teeth and I think they are just fine.

I hope that this thread gets all the attention it deserves, I personally know coaches who dip who have made an impact on a lot of young men’s' lives. Some of these kids had drunks, drug users, child abusers and criminals for parents. I personally know of one young man that played for a hard nosed tobacco using coach, who now is a pillar of the community in which he lives. He is a coach himself and has just started to make a difference in his athlete’s lives. Whoever started this thread needs to get a life and worry about their own shortcomings and mistakes. Even a tobacco using coach knows the old saying "Let those without sin cast the first stone."

    :P

  2. Our football coach, Coach Cantrell would alway tell me and others "Name.......your the dumbest S O B in the history of man, heck dumber than Ned and his first Reader" Man I thought I was real dumb because we had some very dumb people named Reeder in our town. :thumb:

    1980's Dekalb County Tigers

Lou Holtz at South Carolina when asked about loosing to (i think Auburn) "heck they get scholarships too"

Coach Woody Hayes (Ohio) asking Coach Grant Taeff (Baylor) for a film of the Baylor victory over Michigan ....Coach Taeff said "coach I dont think that would be right" and without a beat Hayes said "heck they have their own copy" Coach Taeff sent the tape out immediately.

qoute from book Wnning by Grant Taeff

One time when I asked Coach Mayfield at Cannon County if he thought I should try to become a head football coach he said " If you want to know if you would like to be head coach just go smash your face into a wall and see if you like it" Im still an assistant coach ....... :thumb:

  3. Wayne County Middle School is undefeated and would like to find a post season game. From what I hear Wayne County can play with any team. Does anyone know of another middle school team that is looking for a good game. Any bowls not filled. Please reply

  4. The time has come to look real close at WC football, the improvement you see will come from athletes playing hard for a coach they respect and want to succeed for, thumb as well as for their selves. Coach Madewell and his staff are trying to build a team that goes out on the field and works hard for 48 mins. Success will come when the community gets behind their team and their coaches and fosters an environment that breeds a tradition of winning. Winning or great effort will not happen overnight it will take time and patience. Good luck to you Coach Madewell!

  5. Gee...Gee...you must be an old guy.  :)

Old enough in the 80's so I guess your right. There were great runners and recievers during that time. Kress, Reeder, Howard to name but a few. We also had some hard nosed hard playing defensive players like Cantrell, Patterson and others too many to name. There was great pride in being a part of that time and those teams. But who knows I may just be dumber than " Ned and his first reader " as Coach Cantrell used to say.

  6. Although Warren County still dosn't have the wins, it sounds like to me they are showing improvement. They are more competitive this year than they were in years past. Thats the first step in turning the program around. Pioneer coaches and players, keep your heads up, and keep working. I think some wins are just around the corner for ya. Keep working hard, and good luck!

    825344830[/snapback]

The encouragement is much needed here. Coach Madewell and his staff have done a great job in fielding a team that for years has been browbeat. If Warren County is to ever be a competitive team they need to keep good people around. Keep your head up Chris from a friend.

  7. I hate to here that Coach Price may be leaving, he is a real good man. I want to thank him for helping me with his advice in my search for a new job. If Moore County football is loosing him as coach then they are suffering a great loss. My signiture at the bottom of this post sums him up. Good luck Coach Price.

  8. Can anyone help me out and post Cannon County schedules and records for the years of 1991 and the 1992 seasons. They're wins and losses are a must. They were coached by Brian Harrell and Terry Davidson. I want to compile some statistics for a freind who is working on it. TSSAA has 1993 - 2002 and I have the years before under other coaches like Coach Mayfield. Coach Harrell statistics are hard to find.

  9. Just as there are 32 teams who have been successful enough in each region to advance in the play-offs, there are 32 teams handing in equipment this week. To the teams of men who have not advanced to the play-offs your hard work and dedication is noted by those who really understand the game of football and the game of life, and which of the two that are the most important. Coaches and parents must capitalize on the impressionable years of childhood by instilling in their players and sons the honorable task of building character, integrity and honesty. There is little time to transform boys from immature and flighty youngsters into honest, caring citizens, who will be respectful of authority, women, loyal and faithful in marriage and service to community, keepers of commitments, to be decisive leaders, hard workers, and secure in their manhood. Coaches assist parents through athletics and football to contribute to the growth of their young men. The dedication of coaches, paid and volunteer is greatly appreciated by society. Maybe your team did not win a game or maybe only a few, none the less you contribution to the development of young men is greatly appreciated.

For you seniors who will never suit up and play the game of football again, take away the best parts of your experience and do not dwell upon the negativities, you are successful for having been a part of your schools team and are apart of the majority. Further success was not meant to be. Good luck and know you will be a better citizen for having been a high school football player, the last level of football that is the most pure currently.

For you coaches thanks for all your hard work and seemly thankless endeavors concerning the sport you have dedicated yourself to. Despite the criticism that you get most of us know we could not do your job and want to wish you future success. You have helped shape the futures of young men, your success in this is paramount above all else. Thank you and good luck in the future from a father and dad.

    great post!

  10. With a Coffee Co. win over a beleaguered Sweetwater team and Cookevilles dismatleing of McGavok. A Franklin County win is a must have because of the three way tie rule. With non-region losses to Hillsboro, Father Ryan, and Shelbyville the Rebels are in control of their own fate. Oh yeah chs4life I use proper english in my posts, maybe my coaches taught me betta! :D

  11. If Franklin County wins they play either Oakland or Lebanon at home, I'm not for sure witch one they play.

I Disagree by my calculations a win of Franklin Co. over Cookeville will result in Franklin Co. as a #2 seed. This would mean that Franklin Co. would play #3 seed in Region 4 5A. Lebanon or Symrna. I think it will be Lebanon.

    Region 4 5A senerios:

if Symrna wins or loses against Oakland but Lebanon beats Seigal the seeds would be

    1. Riverdale

    2. Symrna

    3. Lebanon

    4. Oakland

    My resoning

Senerio #1 Straight up . with a Symrna win and a Lebanon win Symrna has a 6-1 region record Lebanon a 5-2 record with Oakland a 4-3 record

Senerio #2 Head to Head between Lebanon and Oakland for third. with a Symrna win and a Lebanon loss Symrna has a 6-1 region record Lebanon a 4-3 region record and Oakland a 4-3 record with a loss to Lebanon

Senerio #3 3 way tie goes to overall record and then head to head. So with a Symrna Loss and a Lebanon win Symrna has a 5-2 region record and a 6-4 overall record Lebanon a 5-2 region record and a 6-4 record with a loss to Symrna and Oakland a 5-2 region record and a 5-5 overall record.

Senerio #4 Symrna loss and a Lebanon loss the region would look like this

    1. Riverdale

    2. Oakland

    3. Symrna

    4. Lebanon

Head to Head between Symrna and Oakland for second. Symrna would have a 5-2 region record with a loss to Oakland and Lebanon would have a 4-3 region record and Oakland would have a 5-2 region record.

So you see :D with a Franklin Co win or loss they cant play Oakland anywhere.

  12. Cookeville has improved alot! and this will be a great game. But theres a big diffrence in the Cumberland County running game and the Franklin County running attack. Prior can run in the middle or outside with power and finnese. Bishop can lower a shoulder with the best of them as well as turn on the jets too. Russel can run too. More weapons than Crossville. Two weeks will answer the question as to who is going to be number 2 or number 4. Good luck Rebels bring a playoff game to Winchester.

  13. B) Your right the quote from another thread says they clinched and I see what your saying, but it does stand to reason that Lincoln co. will not lose to Warren Co. and by winning that one game they can at worse finish the season with a 4-1 record in the region if Cumberland Co. beats them. A big if! With a 4-1 record only Franklin Co. could tie with them and sadly Lincoln Co. beat Franklin Co.

As far as I'm concerned Lincoln Co. has clinched in all but the mathmatics of it.

    B) Whew I almost sounded smart there !

  14. REGION 3-5A

LINCOLN COUNTY FALCONS. The win over Coffee County OFFICIALLY clinches the Region title.

REBELS, AND RAIDERS, AND CAVS OH MY!! So far Franklin County holds on to the #2 seed. I originally thought they had it sealed, but that's no longer true. If Cookeville manages to upset Franklin County that would give the Rebels two region losses. That coupled with a Coffee County victory over Warren County would create a 3-way tie between Cookeville, Coffee County, and Franklin County all with 3-2 region records. TSSAA regulations say in first determining the best in a 3-way tie, overall records are looked at next.

Who has the best overall record? Reaping the rewards of scheduling lightweights out of the region, it could pay dividends for Coffee County. Coffee County has a non-region record of 3-1 with Sweetwater left! It would be HUGE if Coffee beat Sweetwater and Franklin County lost to Cookeville. If that happened Coffee would certainly be the #2 seed with the best overall record because Franklin County has already finished their non-region schedule with a 2-3 record and Cookeville is currently only 2-2 with Nashville McGavock next.

So, let's say Coffee beats Sweetwater and Warren County--yes, a Warren County upset would negate this scenario! Cookeville finishes out the season winning their remaining two games. Well, FC doesn't have anyone left except Cookeville, then overall records would look like this:

    #2. Coffee County (7-3, 3-2)

    #3. Cookeville (6-4, 3-2)

    #4. Franklin County (5-5, 3-2)

Coffee County would definitely beyond a shadow of doubt be the #2 seed in Region 3-5A with the best overall record amongst a 3-way tie for second. The Cavs would be third having won a head-to-head with FC.

WOW! Hold your breath Red Raider fans, there's still a shot you could host a 1st round playoff bid! I was stunned at how well Cookeville did against Cumberland County. I personally thought the Jets would whip the Cavs with a vicious running game, but the Cavs proved me wrong! And knowing that, I no longer believe that it is totally out of the question that Cookeville who stands a very real shot at beating Franklin County could actually finish 3rd in the region!

Warren County and Cumberland County have been eliminated from playoff contention.

    REGION 4-5A

Can you believe it?! It was a great Friday night for fans of two Lebanon-based schools. Wilson Central stunned LaVergne and Oakland was shocked by Lebanon!

RIVERDALE WARRIORS. In control of their region, and would be stunned if they lost to Wilson Central and LaVergne in the remaining two weeks.

DEVILDOGS ON DECK--STANDBY!! Okay, it was a Marine Corps pun, but I was referring to the major key matchup coming Friday between the Lebanon Blue Devils and the Smyrna Bulldogs. Now that Oakland has lost another region contest, the final week between Smyrna and Oakland has somehow lost alot of it's luster in determining the Region's #2 seed. Now, the key matchup comes this next Friday when Lebanon travels to Smyrna. Both of those schools have a 4-1 region record! And how HUGE would it be if Smyrna beat Oakland in the final week! Okay, it lost some of it's luster, but not all of it. A team that had all the aspirations of at least finishing 2nd in the region (Oakland) could finish 4th if they lose Smyrna in week number FINAL.

But looking at this huge matchup in Smyrna next weekend, if Lebanon beats Smyrna, they will have only Siegel left. Lebanon would be the definitive #2 seed in Region 4-5A assuming they don't somehow fall to the Stars! Did you ever see that coming? WOW! The Blue Devils storm out of no where to make some noise in their region!

And then what if Smyrna does lose to Lebanon? Suddenly, the final weekend against Oakland determines #3 and #4.

Watch out Bulldogs, Lebanon stands a great shot of beating Smyrna and finishing with a 6-1 Region 4-5A record!

Oh yeah, I just thought I'd add this little tid-bit, just for kicks. Let's assume all heck breaks lose and Wilson Central beats Riverdale and Blackman and Oakland loses to Siegel and Smyrna in the final two weeks. Then, exit Oakland from the playoffs and enter Wilson Central! How unbelievable would that be?! Not likely, but still funny as heck!

Blackman, LaVergne, and Siegel have all been eliminated from playoff contention.

This is a good breakdown but i still go with my earlier post

    :o

  15. oakland@lc(lincoln co)
