  1. If this was back in the 70's and early 80's (Buck Van Huss days), we would have the Dome packed and turning fans away at the door 5,000+. D-B is starting to get some of that back with Charlie Morgan as coach, but still not at Buck level and probablly won't ever. If D-B can keep winning going into the SH game, a big crowd will be there, maybe 3,000-3,500 or so. JC will bring the fans because of the 1st game in Dec. It will be an instant classic. I can't wait.

    Bring on Daniel Boone!!!

  2. I know it is 9 days away, but, I can't help but think about next weeks D-B/SH B-Ball game. It should be fantastic.

1st game earlier this season was the most painful loss I have ever been a part of, either playing or watching/cheering. I was crushed leaving JC, along with 1,000 or so other D-B fans. D-B dominated the game so much that a loss was not even imaginable.... until the last min of the game. The crowd was near riot fever at the buzzer.

Both teams have improved since that game. D-B is riding a 6 game win streak. Outscoring opponents by a score of 68-46 in that span. The last 2 opponents have been held under 40 pts. D-B defense is outstanding. Inside/outside play on offense is really clicking.

Not looking past Daniel Boone (on the road Friday night) or another huge rematch against Greeneville @ home next Tue.(1st game was just as good if not better than SH game), but this is rival / blood / bragging rights. SH has what D-B wants and the Indians are on the warparth.

    Giddy Up!!!

  3. Boone beat SH?? This Boone team?? A snowball has a better chance in you know where than Boone does in JC.

And save it on Friday night too, 'cause you got no shot (NONE PERIOD NONE) at beating Dobyns-Bennett, the real D-B!!

Get real Boone, you have an average team at best. And average don't get it done.

  4. Not to hurt any Betsy fellings, but.....

If Vince Redd does not play against Volunteer on Friday.... NO WAY ELIZABETHTON WINS!!! PERIOD. I watched Eliz. scrimmage D-B just before the season started, with Big Vince setting on the Bench.... and they did not look good at all without him. Heck, they just lost to a so-so Clinton team at Betsy with Vince out, so, forget about it.

Now, if Vince plays, it will be a toss up, 50-50. I would like to see that game.

    Go Falcons. Go Chuckie!!

  5. Volunteer will get more respect, once they beat up on Eliz and Sullivan Central. This is a very dangerous team. They have the best White Big Man that has been in East Tn since Granville Arnold played at Sullivan North. And like G. Arnold, Chucky Mullins is becoming a Super Star in his Soph season. Triple Double last game out.

    Go Falcons.

  6. Coach T needs to update Dobyns Bennett's schedule. No games are listed for this week, we have 2 games before the Greeneville / Davey Crockett / Science Hill stretch of next week.

    For the record:

    Tue 01/14/03 - D-B vs Sullivan South @ home

    Friday 01/17/03 - D-B vs Daniel Boone @ Boone

Keep it rolling Tribe - Doing great and getting better all the time.

  7. D-B has won 5 in a row, and the Tribe is showing improvement every time out. Inside game is really getting stronger with good Post work by Wooten (25 against East) and Harrison (24 against North). Pressure D gave East fits, holding them to 34 or 35 pts total. Way to go Tribe!! Counting down to Tourny time.

  8. Ref: Arby's Classic - 1st round game. Marryville won by 3 or 5 pts.

D-B may have won that game if Wooten had been in the game. he sat out until mid way 3rd qtr. He scored 8pts in the 1-1/2 qtrs he played and Marryville could not stop him. Wooten was late for practice and the coach was making an example of him to the rest of the team. Also, Seth Jervis was only about 70% healthy with a gimpy ankle. Both are fine now and starting. Maybe D-B will get another shot at the Rebles (full strength) if not, no big deal.

But,,,,, I can't wait until we get SH at home (), no way they win that game. PS>>> SH know's it too. :x

  9. Sorry SH and Maryville fans.

SH must be improving from the games I saw them play in Dec., shot the lights out against SE. Good for them. When D-B and SH play later this month, it may be another classic. Tight, close, heated rivalry basketball games are really alot of fun. Some real excitement and emotions can get away from everyone in a bigtime game.

Maryville beats Bearden on the road and Lee H. comes up big again. Why would UT not sing this kid. Best pure shooter I have seen in many years. I still don't think there are any other bigtime College prospects on this team.

  10. If it helps any, I wasn't very impressed with Maryville either, except for Lee Humphrey. Wow, he is awesome. The rest of the team is average at best, but a good supporting cast for Humphrey, they do know how to get him the ball. Maryville fans should hope and pray that Humphrey doesn't get into foul trouble.

  11. True, SH has been a very strong Statewide Program for 20yrs or so. Very Strong. But, that was then and this is now. Now, this team is not a standard SH team. And if not for miricle finishes (hey Rocky, watch me pull a Rabbit out of my hat), this team would be 9-5 and looking at 6 of 8 games on the raod. Let's see how they fair the next 2-3 weeks. Will they struggle against teams they used to blow out? I expect they will struggle against SE and SS. Clinton gave SH all they wanted on the Hill, will SH fall to Clinton on the road? Clinton is not a very good team. And then there is D-B on the road. You and I both know who dominated that game in Dec., (except for above mentioned miricle), don't think that will happen in the Dome. See you in KPT in a couple of weeks. ;)

  12. Dan Boone #10??? Boone is not a good Basketball Team. Not even close. I watched them in the Arby's and they did not deserve to be on the same with just a decent team "Brainard".

Could Science Hill's days be numbered?? It took miricle finishes to get where they are now, and that was at home. The "Hill" goes on the road for 6 of the next 8 games. Trouble is looming big time for this over rated team.

  13. I have seen some good B-Ball already this year. The best players in North East Tenn. (in my eyes are):

    Azmar Blye (D-;)(hitting everything now)

    Henry Williams (D-:(

Jarrod Wooten (D-:((just needs to take more shots, shooting 70% from the field)

    Bradley Blair (GHS)

    Malone (GHS)

    Vince Redd (Eliz)

    Odem (SH)

The very best player is Chucky Lindholm of Volunteer, and he is a Soph.

  14. Is Science Hill better than Maryville? If so, D-B has a real good shot at a rematch with SH in the 2nd round. D-B lost @ SH in a game the Indians totally dominated until the last 2 min. Nobody who was at that game will say that SH is the better of the 2 teams, if they do, there lying, and they know it. Rankings will take care of themselves. This is fun stuff though, I am glad we have this site to yak it up. High School B-Ball is a heck of a lot of fun.

Roll Tribe in the Arby's!! And Merry Christmas to everyone.

  15. Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett is way better than Honorable Mention. What a joke. Without question, D-B is the best team in Upper East Tennessee. Gomab, have you ever actually been to East Tn to watch a game this year? Your rankings say, no you haven't. Anyway, I guess you will revise your Rankings after the Arby's Classic. D-B will start out with Maryville. I expect they are highly ranked? Then, if D-B wins, that will set up (more than likely) a re-match with Science Hill. That should be fun.

  16. D-B fan here. Maryville and D-B face eachother in the opening round of THE ARBY'S CLASSIC. We don't get many looks at Maryville in North East Tn. What is the Size and Grade Class of the Starting Team. My nephew plays post for D-B, so I asked him tonight what Maryville had and he said that the best player in the state is on the team. So, you must be pretty good. You all will love the Arby's Classic. It is the finest B-Ball Tournament in the South. And be ready for a packed House in Bristol.

    See ya after X-Mas.

  17. Finish what you start!! D-B found that out when we played SH> Dominated the entire game! Led by 11 with 2:30 to go. Well, the game wasn't over and SH somehow came back. D-B was the better team in that game, but we lost. Greeneville says they were the better team against SH and D-B, well, you got finish on top to say that and you didn't. See ya in Jan '03.

    Roll Tribe!

  18. Gaucho, you are so wrong. I was there. I saw it all. D-B players celebrated, but not any longer than anybody would have in that situation. Your trash talkin' boys tucked their tail's between there legs and run of the court. No Class. And the Coach was the last one to go. He could have told them to go shake hands, our boys were just standing there. But he chose not to.

See you in the Arby's Classic. Oh, No I won't, no invite given to Greeneville.

  19. Huge road win for D-B. Azmar Blye nailed a half court shot at the buzzer. Inbounds pass with 2.3 sec.. 2 dribbles and knocked it down. 2nd straight buzzer beater loss suffered by Greeneville in as many games. Blye came up huge in the final 1:00. Down 3, he drove the baseline, putting in a layup, and 1. Greeneville tried to hold for a last shot but there Big Man 6-10 was called for traveling, just before he was fouled going to the hole. Crowd from Kingsport went crazy and Green Devil players and coach showed NO CLASS.... By walking off the court without shaking hands. ROLL TRIBE!! :D

  20. After a 2-2 start, nobody would have picked D-B to be here! What a turnaround. D-B had a number of injuries and lots of young players filling in, now they clicking on all cylinders. D-B is coming to Murf. to win, so.....be ready.

GIDDY UP AND ROLL TRIBE ROLL!!
