  1. The issue has since been resolved and McKenzie has resumed using the Rebel logo.

After some details came to light, it never was Ole Miss University that complained in the first place, but rather it was the licensing company that Ole Miss has representing the school.

  2. You sure you got that schedule of the mckenziefootball.com site? The TCA game is in Jackson.

Yep. it was posted on there on 12/10/08.

Oh okay, it might have been a mistake with the original schedule. Lol, you had me scurrying around the website the other night trying to find out where I had on my 3 different schedules TCA playing at McKenzie and couldn't find it.

i didnt know you made mistakes lol

Lol. I don't make mistakes :popcorneater:. I believe I got the schedule just moments after they set it up at the football conference last fall and I'm thinking that the Home/Away stuff hadn't been finalized at the time.

  3. According to the schedule I printed off mckenziefootball.com the game is in McKenzie. The schedule that is billfold size that is around town says it's at TCA................ They think it's here too.....at least I think stockerd (sp) does I'm pretty sure????????? Hummmmmmmmm???? Input from someone who knows for sure please!!!!!!!

  5. Yes they are loaded with young players but simply have no coach. Harper needed no coach he was simply Peabody's offense for 3 years.

So you're saying that good coaching had no impact on Harper developing his talent? Harper was so naturally good that he didn't need a coach? If that's the case, if Trenton has such talented players, who's coaching doesn't really matter.

Trenton has a lot of young players, they can't be expected to come out and be superstars like Harper. Give them a year or two and they'll have a very athletic team.

There's an old story I was told when I was younger about football from a coach I know. The number of freshman and sophomores you have starting on your team, will be the number of losses you suffer in the season. In many cases, that rule hold rules.

Firing a coach when things start to get bad isn't always the right solution.

  6. Coach Scott has been at Trenton for nearly 20 years, and the last few years as head coach am I right? And for those thinking he's the problem, he's a good coach but this year they're having a down year, something he can't control.

Trenton may have some good talented Freshman, but they're just that, Freshman, talent doesn't make up for experience when you're a Freshman, but you let those guys grow up and get to be Juniors and Seniors, they'll be a good bunch.

But right now, I believe McKenzie will take this one, and will likely determine the final score at will.

  7. From what I was told this afternoon, the Rebels took Lexington to the woodshed in the scrimmage yesterday. I was told the score was 11 to 1 Rebels and the one Lexington score was against our 2nd team.

So is Lexington REALLY down this season or are the Rebels that good????? I know what my feelings are on the subject but, wonder what ya'll others in Rebel Nation think on the question!!!!

Yeah, thats what I was told. One of the coaches also told me that Lexington had a couple of good players that were down with injuries, their starting QB and I think one of their linebackers, both of whom are good athletes, which would have likely made a slight difference in the score.

Injuries or not, it's still unusual to score that many points against Lexington if you ask me.

  8. and didnt yall lose pretty much ur whole offensive line? yeah quick recievers and a VERY talented backfield from what i saw last year is great.. but it all starts witht the line.. do u honostly believe u can a state championship with an inexperienced line?

    im just sayin :flower:

Um, no. McKenzie only graduated 6 players last year and I believe has most of it's linemen from last year returning.

  9. I understand that the Rebels have a new kicker this year. He is a high school soccer player who has been asked to kick for the Rebels this year. Does anyone else have any more information concerning the new kicker for the Rebels.

    Go Rebels

I wasn't aware of a soccer player coming to be the new kicker, but I know Austin McKinney was slated to be the kicker for McKenzie.

  10. Good greetings from Manassas Tigers.

You folks from McKenzie are hilarious. Its the "GAY HAWK", not the gay parrot and unfortunately you probably will never return as I don't see us playing you guys ever again with the new classifications and all. Shame really, although we are 0-2 with you guys, we feel like we have made enough strides to compete now with the best, and we certainly consider your program one of the best. It was a great game, and I suggest if you ever return, finding a different parking lot - God almighty I don't even know you, but the thought of you good ole boys from Mckenzie rolling up to the Gay Hawk in the south Memphis Hood is hilarious. The trophy cabinet sure would have looked good this year with a gold EGG propped up right next to that gold basketball we just brought home - but you guys kept that from happening - what a game!

Anyway, we were wondering who Max was and what happened. Did he play against us in the playoff game and if so, what was his number? How did he get hurt? Just some of us Manassas folk were wondering.

That game was a heck of game, it's a wonder there weren't people there who suffered heart attacks.

Yes, Max did play against yall in the playoff game, he wore #12. Here's a picture of him from that game.

I don't know the exact details, but from my understanding, during the first week Spring practice, I might be mistaken as its been a while since I heard about the incident, but I was thinking Max himself wasn't even exactly sure when he did it or what he did but realized in the days after something wasn't right and he turned out to have a cracked vertebra. Though I'm trying to recall from vague memories, I was thinking it might have happened during the "Oklahoma" style drills they had.

  11. Greetings McKenzie..

its been awhile since my last post...everything is going smoothly in the lions den...and i hear the same for mckenzie..except word in the coffee shop is you fellas have the Arnold kid down with a knee injury, and a lineman with a broken neck? thats an awful thing to happen...our best wishes from dresden go out to him with that, and to the one with the knee problem as well...McKenzie will bounce back as im sure but this year with all the playoff speculation, it should make the rivalry a little stronger

    good luck from Dresden!!

Arnold has a cracked vertebra, not actually a broke neck. Davis is down with a knee injury. Hopefully McKenzie can get over the injuries and are ready for the regular season.

Good luck to Dresden, too, hopefully everybody there can stay injury free and come out next season kickin' butt.

  12. What's the word from the Lexington scrimmage??? Some things came up at work and I couldn't make it.

McKenzie came out not playing very well and let Lexington run over them the very first drive and they scored. After that, McKenzie kept them contained fairly well and didn't allow them to score again. Eventually McKenzie went down and got a TD with a pass to Clark I think in the corner of the endzone. They ended tied 1-1.

Hey BigD, I can't get mckenziefootball.com to open on internet explorer. what's wrong????

I checked in my IE browser and it's working fine for me. Are you still having problems? If so, try emptying out your Temporary Internet Files in the Tools | Internet Options / General tab

  13. D, I was told that the coaches may have requested that no sign be put up recognizing the '07 class A football runner up season since we didn't win. True/False????

I talked to Coach Thomas and he wasn't aware of such a comment being made.

I would not have thought Coach Comer would request not to have sign put up just because we didn't win, but I can't say he didn't, all I know is that Coach Thomas hadn't heard that.

  14. Does anyone know what time they are scheduled to start?

I assume you're referring to the scrimmages? I'm guessing at the moment, but I figure it will be around 3:30, no later than 4.

I'll talk to the coaches and get a definite answer.

    EDIT:

Yeah, it's supposed to start around 3:30

  15. OK, seriously is the drama over for '09??? There are still jobs open-----are we gonna have to worry about this some more this year or is it done?? The Rebel Nation wants to know!!

    /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

Yes, it's over for now. We have Coach Comer for at least one more season.

  16. I believe Spring practice for the Rebels start the 17th and ends March 6th. McKenzie will scrimmage Crockett County on Feb 27th and will end Spring practice on the 6th with a scrimmage against Lexington, both scrimmages at Bethel College Wildcat Stadium

  17. From what I've overheard in conversations between people "in the know," it wasn't the administration that was the problem. In fact, I heard there wasn't a problem at all. While there is some dissatisfaction with some things, to say Mr. Ward is or was the cause of Coach Comer potentially leaving, well might I say that's a little absurd. With a small school system like McKenzie, some things are just harder to do than at a place like Dyersburg.

  18. oh so instead of being confident you goona pray well that's cool i will do both for jb ,,,,,,so i guess that just stand's for the jb folk's huh to be confident don't guess none of the reb fan's are so don't jump me for it

Oh, no worries, I have confidence...and my confidence was reaffirmed after seeing some game film dad brought home but it doesn't hurt to pray for your team /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
