1. How did Uri Hansen get to sixth did he lose some matches??? I havent heard much news on him lately.  Why is Carl Taylor ranked below Stuart Allen??? Carl has won the last two times they have wrestled!!!

The last two times Taylor and Allen met were at regions last year. Allen pinned Taylor late in the 3rd period and this year at Cordova duals Taylor won in 2ot.

  2. Hunt and Speroff are the two best wrestlers in the State and can tear through anyone. Brasher is the best freshman on the team and will either get or give up three. Lindow will hang around for three periods if not avenge his loss to Allen. Rehder is a good wrestler and will be difficult to beatlet alone to pin, he almost was a state qualifier at 135 last year, as a first time wrestler. Cordova still has get deal with the light weights of Collierville. Their lower half is the best in the region.

I did not see Speroff tear through Daniel Sharp (Germantown) in the meet prior to the Cordova Vs Collierville contest. I Don't remember the score but Speroff took a whoopin. One of the best matches of the night.

  3. Individual results from the local fishwrap (per usfjim's request):

    215 Rogers pinned Hohn, 4:29

    275 Allen pinned Lindow, 3:34

    103 Johnson pinned Wilson, 1:33

    112 Piotrowski beat Britcliff, 6-4

    119 Tisdale beat Carr, DQ

    125 J. Hunt beat Howington, 12-0

    130 Hannah pinned Packer, 1:32

    135 D. Hunt beat Reynolds, 3-2

    140 Speroff beat Mitchner, 7-5

    145 Gipson beat Rehder, 16-1

    152 Cullen beat Ring, 10-3

    160 McNinch beat Cropp, 7-5

    171 Lee pinned Poteet, 3:30

    189 Berry beat Powers, 5-1

I am not sure if the paper is right at 135, I thought it was Chris Hendry who wrestled. I am sure a Cordova fan can confirm either way.

Great win for the Wolves and Coach Thiry has done a great job this year. thumb

Have not seen the paper today, But it was Chris Reynolds (COR) vs D. Hunt

  4. Was that an upset at 275?  or expected?

    825526542

It was expected by everyone except DRAGON12. The only upsetting part of the match was a takedown by Lindow. This was the first takedown and offensive points scored on Allen this year.

  5. It probably is just you.  Father Ryan beat Grady, not you.  Carl out of place at 2nd?  How many times have you beat him or Stewart Allen?  Lindow, you're having a great year, so enjoy it.  You'll have plenty to brag about after you wrestle Stewart again on Tuesday and Big Carl on the 25th. thumb

I also believe a return to the rankings at 2nd place is extreme for Carl. One tournament win and the decision over Allen in 2ot does not justify this move.

I think Grady is overated at third. My picks would be as follows. :P

    1st - Hazlett

    2nd - Allen

    3rd - Taylor

    4th - Lindow

    5th - Grady

  6. :P

Your right ya know? Im not that great of a wrestler, ill admit that. Sorry if ive like offended anyone or made anyone upset lately.....Last year of wrestling is starting to get to me and I just..I unno. Ive never been a badass and never will be...Sorry guys.

Don't let this board get to you James. Your still one of the top hwts in the state. I think your loss to Conley of Bolton was due to the earlier loss to Allen that same day. It mentally took you out of the tournment being your first loss of the year.

Also, Congrats on your 1st place finish at Ryan. :)

  7. I haven't heard about any of the guys from Cordova, so I'm totally in the dark about them. I only know about how good the Collierville guys are.

Hope you took the comment with a smile as it was intended. I would not bash a region 8 fan. Cordova has wrestled very well this year and suprised a few teams.

Maybe even collierville. This will be a match up you don't want to miss.

I'll go out on a limb and say Cordova 36 over Collierville 29.

  8. Here is what I think will happen:

    103: Johnson pins Wilson

    112: Britcliffe minors Piotrowski

    119: Tisdale minors Carr

    125: Hunt majors Howington

    130: Hannah pins Wisner

    135: Hunt pins Reynolds

    140: Mitchner majors Rehder

    145: Speroff pins Gibson

    152: Cullen minors Ring

    160: Reynolds majors Crop

    171: Brasher minors Lee

    189: Powers minors Berry

    215: Rogers majors John

    275: Allen minors Lindow

    Final: Collierville 41 Cordova 17

I may lean more to one side than the other, but i am going by how well I have seen collierville guys wrestle, standings, or past encounters. Again only a guess.

    825520733

I think you have leaned to far and bumped your head on the floor. It will be a much closer score than you predict.

  9. I wouldn't say that we are a powerhouse by any means.  Things just went our way last night and the season will have BIG challenges.  We have Cordova on Tuesday and Houston on Wednesday.  Another big week!

  11. Ring06, I said early in this post that Cordova is the sleeper this year. Im not saying they will win region, but I think they will be improved over last year. Yes they did defeat Ridgeway last year in a duel meet. I also remember Ridgeway had a few injuries at that time. Ridgeway did come back at Region and defeat Cordova in a close and exciting contest. Cordova has a new coaching staff this year and the wrestler turnout has been great. Double the size of last years team. Things are looking very positive at cordova. Its still early in the season and several wrestlers are still playing football at other schools. Cordova's Football season is over and there wrestlers choose to take the week off. They will be back and ready for Ridgeway's preseason tournament. This has been a great thread for region 8 so let's keep it positive and give the season a little time.

  12. Coach Delgado,There were actually 4 quality wrestlers in the bracket I believe you are referring to. Wrestler D (a region champion, but not ranked) was also eliminated. Wrestler D watched from the stands as his regions 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishers advanced. The 3rd place finisher was 1 match away from the medal rounds. Wrestler D has a career record of 3-1, current year 2-1 against the Division 2 champion. Career record 2-1, current year 1-1 against the Division 1 champion. My guess is he was the only wrestler who has defeated the champions from both divisions this year. I want say which weight class,It's water under the bridge and does not matter now. The point is Tenn. has a flawed tournment format, double elimination is the only way to go.

  13. Uri Hansen gets bumped from the rankings after winning at bolton (215). Lawrence Seay (M. Cath) holds on to 2nd place at 275 Div 2 after being defeated twice last week by Andrew Hoosier (MUS) ranked 3rd. Seay was also defeated by Carl Taylor (Ridge) at the Bolton tournament. Go figure that one.
