For exact stats and standings go to nashvillerhythm.com.
Ashley McElhiney - formerly of Gleason & Vanderbilt - is their head coach. The Rhythm features Dontae Jones (Miss St.), Gribble (White Co), Jason Harrell (Obion Co), Marcus Williams (Union City) and a few others from the state.
The game is a bit different...they have no one and one's, 8 fouls puts teams in the bonus, 8 second backcourt count, if you steal the ball on defense and score an additional point is awarded. Players can stay in the game after 6 fouls, but if they committ a foul, the other team is awarded three free throws and the ball. Overtime is a four minute period and everyone is eligible - unless a player has been ejected. If it goes to double overtime, no clock and the first team to score 11 points wins. There are other interesting rules you can find at the ABA website. It sounds interesting.
Don't forget Adam Sonn from DCA/Belmont, Dontae Jones is from Whites Creek in Nashville, and others like Atiba Prater (PG from Vanderbilt)...
-
I saw where Ezell's Duke and Metro's Goodwin both went off... any other details... I saw that Metro's (formerly College Heights') PG only had 3 pts. Kind of surprising...
-
I too was wondering the details... didn't see a score either in the Tennessean

Tomorrow night RBS and Herm. Springs play (as we all know too well on this board)
Also, Pickett plays a team from KY...
Trousdale and Gordonsville square off...
and Mt. Juliet Christian travels to Nashville against Metro Christian...

Hey HSWILDCATSFAN1507,
I don't think you are doing justice to Hermitage Springs.... I think they have a very hard working, respectable reputation and all you are doing is giving Hermitage Springs a black eye...
-
Here are my predictions...
Westmoreland 61 RBS 43
Friendship 52 Clay Co. 49
MJCA 48 Watertown 42
Trousdale 63 Boyd 41
Clarkrange 51 Monterey 48

There are quite a few district and region games going on tonight.... lets get some predictions...
Westmoreland @ Red Boiling Springs
Friendship @ Clay County
Watertown @ Mt. Juliet Christian
Trousdale Co. @ Boyd Christian
Off night: Pickett Co., Gordonsville, Van Buren, and Hermitage Springs... all four of these teams with the exception of VB play tom. night....

My mistake....and I am just an observer, so no offense to Coach Graves. However, I will say that though their defense is solid, its not as tight as in past years. I can remember seeing them play and every pass being denied and the on the ball defense being smoking hot. Also, their FC press isn't as effective in past years.
Like I said earlier, their defense is still very solid and they can definitely frustrate teams...just not like the past 3 or 4 years.
I guess I was spoiled by watching that WHS team a couple of years ago.
BTW, where are all of the Westmoreland fans??? In the past, they have swarmed the CoachT boards....
-
How big of a factor was LaVergne's Theryn Hudson...
-
I'm guessing youre from Pigeon Forge? LOL!
DCA just won the state title in Football last weekend, and I am pretty sure that most of their basketball team were on that football team, so they won't be at their normal level of play until after Christmas probable... They lost some important seniors from last year... That's about all I know...
-
I know Zach Custer is back....
I predict that Westmoreland will handle RBS pretty easily... just my opinion, and here are some reasons why I think so...
1) they can shoot the lights out from deep (no surprise)
2)they can run offense for like 45 seconds until they get a wide open jump shot or layup... they are extremely disciplined
3)They are extremely quick, even their big guys
However, one of their big guys (came off the bench) did get in a car wreck, he's ok and will be there, but I am not sure if he will be playing... that could play a factor.
Westmoreland really doesn't score a whole lot this year, but part of that is just because they take so much time to find a wide open shot. So their margins of victory do not necessarily reflect their level of dominance...
My prediction... Westmoreland 61 RBS 43

If you are to high school sports what you claim to be, you will let this stand: Is CoachT detramental to high school sports? Any beer drinking, disgruntled, angry parent/fan can voice their opinions on subjects they have no idea, or buisness posting on. You cannot tell a parent from a player from a coach; or heaven forbid a ref.
This is a no brainer, I actually laughed when I saw the title, thinking it was a joke til I read what Creekercalhoun had to say...
CoachT is probably the best thing that has happened to TN HS athletics in a long time... and in my opinion the boards are the main reason. My knowledge, and I know that a lot of others' knowledge, has been increased by the boards. It kinda lets you know what is happening outside of the box. It lets you know who has a good team and who may be down this year. It gives players in rural areas exposure state wide that they would normally only get in their local newspaper. Need I go on????
Sure you are going to have your disgruntled fans/parents, but what Boards site does not have its share of negativity? The bottom line, the positive definitely outweigh this one little aspect. Plus, there are so many active moderators that things are held considerably under control...
In closing, let me give a quote, "Opinions are like rear ends, everyone has one and they all stink." If everyone understood this quote then I don't think we would have any problems...

The district is tough, and it is hard for HS Monterey Clarkrange and RBS on some years will not to be able to compete with Pickett and CLay but is sure is nice when these four schools can compete with Pickett and Clay, in small schools it is just hard to have the talent every year, a coach has to stay for a while and build the program from the ground up to have a chance to compete each year,
Coach Rochester did make dividends in turning HS around,
You never know who is going to have good years and who is going to have bad years with the exception of Pickett.... I remember Clay was a very average team 3 or 4 years back...
-
I agree, that "don't mean nothing"... I hope that people aren't trying to judge the outcome of this game based on past performances against the same school. Because that was HS' 4th AWAY game in 5 nights, and you could tell they didn't have any legs. #20 Matthew Smith was ice cold and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.
Also, RBS beat G'ville by 20 and HS beat them by 5. That closer margin in itself proves the inconsistancy of box scores.
Plus, you never know what is going to happen when there is a rivalry game....
With that being said, I would say that this game is either going to be really really close with HS having a chance to win late in the game or a big blowout for RBS over HS ...
-
Just another example of a prediction thread gone bad...
By the way, the post about Meador being contained... it may not be a matter of Hermitage Springs containing Meador, because I honestly think HS do not have the defensive weapons to shut Meador down. However, there are different variables in games, and foul trouble is one of the biggest variables...just something to think about...
Again, best of luck...
-
And they say he is not done growing....
-
Ouch HSbasketballnut, that one was harsh. Granted it did have some truth to it...
I am not saying this will be close, but it could if RBS' Meador and Heady have an off night and if HS' Matthew Smith gets hot...
I do agree about RBS maybe approaching games from now on with a little bit more humility after the Pickett game....
Best of Luck to both teams....

Nashville's Auri Allen was the number 10 on Sportscenter's plays of the day... He didn't do anything special, they basically just mentioned him being called Baby Shaq and being a 14 year old, 6-11" 290 lb. Freshman... He is currently playing in LA (as in Los Angeles
He was/is from Nashville and has been getting press (including being in RIPLEY'S BELIEVE IT OR NOT" ever since he was 10 years old. I had heard that he was having problems with schools and discipline... and then had no other choice but to homeschool... Did this play a role in him going to LA, (Los Angeles, not Livingston Academy )???
Anyway, here is a story I found on him...Auri Allen...
Any additional info would be greatly appreciated...

One of the best runs I have seen all season...he ran over 4 guys before breaking away...shoeless Chris Wooden, kinda has a ring to it
-
That shoeless run by Wooden was probably the best run I have seen all season...wow!
-
Monterey is down this year, I would be surprised if Clay didn't beat them by 25....
Trousdale and MJCA? 8A Tourney...

I too am curious in the Friendship upset by Hartsville...
... and congratulations to the Lady Saints of Mt. Juliet Christian, their upset bid of Watertown came painfully short, but still they ended their season with their first winning season in school history.
Good luck (I have a feeling that we'll need it) to District 8-A in the Region Tourney.
