  1. How can you be an athlete and not play sports?

Some of our most athletic students didn't play sports. Does that make it a little clearer? They played in middle school but in high school some just didn't play do to grades, drugs, etc.

  2. You are a man of your word and classy guy...it was fun jousting with you on the board. I wish your nephew much success in the future /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

I agree, I didn't think you'd get back on here and face us Alcoa fans but you did and I respect you for that. You just cant get any classier than that! Great season DCA and maybe we'll make the trip up there next year.

  3. I'd just like to see Alcoa's starters play for more than a half............................................. /bored.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bored:" border="0" alt="bored.gif" />

O The starters will play most of the state game. I was hoping to play Peabody next week because I know for a fact that GP can't and won't beat us running that wing t without speed! It's time to put Alcoa on turf and that makes a fast team that much faster!! GP should already know what's going happen, but good luck anyway and we'll see ya next week.

  4. are you going to be stupid and say that Shiverdecker from last years team did not transfer there from north carolina? do you want too say that 5 or 6 of this years starters have not transfered to alcoa from some where else or do you want to be made to look stupid!!

I will say you are about STUPID because Shivy came from Jeff. Co. Where did you get NC from?? You must have us mixed up with another team of yours. Maybe we do have a few starters that tranfered in, but did those 5 or 6 players do most of the damage tonight? Alcoa's skilled players and most key players are BORN AND RAISED IN ALCOA YOU FOOL!!! Why would I lie?? I guess I was recruited to go to Alcoa also huh?? I mean I do own a few state records in track and own 8 state titles?? Does that mean I was recruited because I was successful?? You have no idea what kind of athletes we have in Alcoa and some of our best athletes don't even play sports!

  5. like i said early, why do you think rankin came there? can you say better money? better recruitment? come on you guys know, you and everbody else ARE NOT STUPID,DUMB OR BLIND!!

I hope to God you are not a DCA fan talking like this! Do you realize that we were winning without Rankin! Actually we were scoring more points without Rankin. The only thing Rankin Brought to our program was more class. You are ignorant if you think Alcoa recruits! Anyone that knows the history of Alcoa knows they've never had to recruit! You are about Stupid dude!

  6. congrats to a great football team. it just shows that a program with a lot of great recruitment pays off!! i just wonder how u guys get the players in there$$!! ifind it hard to believe that many d1 athletes come from alcoa? NOT TO GET ON THE R WORD ,but i would love to see the percentage rate of the players birth certificates who where born in blount co. vs. the ones who happen to transfer there from surrounding countys, states???? i would be willing to bet my savings on blount co.25% surrounding cities, county, states 75% no disrespect, but everbodyknows this.ya do a better job than most private schools. except for your neighbors, they must have more $$.

Are you a sore loser or what?? Look here, you can take all the transfers or people you think we recruits and put them on DCA's team and they still would have gotten whipped. the qb Cobb is my close cousin and I was there when he was born! He's lived here for 17 long years, #21 Hodge, he's from Alcoa also and I ran summer track with him when he was like 9 yrs old, #3 Thompson, you know the guy that had a few ints. tonight and a few receiving td's is from Alcoa, #2 Tyson the big fullback is from Alcoa, I played with his cousin Mike, and he's a freshman. #1 Warren, the cousin of All-American Brandon Warren is from Alcoa. How did you like that 90 yrd run for a freshman?? So we don't need to recruit to win games in Blount Co. To tell you the truth, when I played in 2000, our team actually had more way more speed and talent than this years team, and all 40 of our players were from ALCOA!!!!

  7. Lets face it, Alcoa is just too good. I think Coach Rankin should just pull out the Goodpasture tape and game plan them for the boro. They can keep practices light this week, maybe just a walk through on thursday. Parents and fans get your hotel reservations ready, if you haven't already. Get your day off set for next friday, travel day. I mean Alcoa is too good, faster than any high school team that has ever played the game, totally unbeatable(EXCEPT FOR MARYVILLE). Poor DCA, too slow, can't run, can't pass, never played a team nowhere near as good as Alcoa, the best High School team in America ( except for Maryville). They should never have beat the powerhouse York, with all their speed, and they should never have beat Tyner, they had 8 running backs that are faster than anybody elses, and lets not forget Bledsoe County, they were tougher than any one else, and now they get Alcoa, the best coached, most talented High School team that has ever played the game. My ole My, what a prize for kicking York's tail, having to face super team! I am sure the DCA players are shaking in their Nikes. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

You were right for once;:) Just about everything you said in this post was true huh?? So what do you think about those mighty F5 Tornadoes!! Did we make a believer out of you guys yet? York tried to explain that the talent down here in Blount Co. is on another level. Looks like Alcoa, Fulton, and Maryville will represent the East once again and two of them will be going for the 4-peat!

  8. What you're not understanding is our kicker just may be the key to the game. Field position will play a huge part in this game and 85% of his kicks are in the endzone! He has a heck of a foot!

I love when I'm right! I told you guys that our kicker had a foot and he showed it once again. How many times did DCA even cross the 50 yrd. line?? I don't think they did one time against the first team but I'm not sure. Brodus is something special and he's only a sophomore.

  9. 38 - ooh ooh!!! I TOLD THE DCA FANS THAT THOUGHT THAT ALCOA WAS A JOKE!! YOU CAN'T SAY ALCOA HAS NO CLASS BECAUSE THEY COULD HAVE REALLY SCORED AT LEAST 50 OR 60!! AND SO MUCH FOR THAT HIGH POWERED OFFENSE OF DCA! NO DISRESPECT TO DCA BUT THEY'D COME IN 3RD IN OUR REGION. CAK AND LOUDON AND MAYBE ROCKWOOD WOULD BEAT THEM HANDILY.

  10. Hey 5, you know what's going on..........describe the preparations this week. Is the team ready? I hope so. This has a 'big' game feel to it.

I've heard a little bit about what's going on. I heard this DCA team is well disciplined and #21 is pretty quick. But I heard their d won't be able to keep us out the endzone. So if our d causes a few turnovers then we should put the game away. Should be a good game and Alcoa will have a few new wrinkles.

  11. Well, its here the eve before the huge came between the 3yr defending 2a state champs the Alcoa Tornadoes and the DCA Wildcats. I have to say this week's threads about this game have been great and to be honest they have not been hateful or off color in any way other than that ASBY guy, everyone has been respectful to the other team and has just rooted for their Team. I will say I can not wait to make the drive up I 40 to see this game. I will be honest I am just glad I will not be on the side lines for either team this week. There will be hard hitting, big plays, ups and downs and unfortunately there has to be a winner and a loser. But that is sports right? I just think that the true winners in this game will be the fans because it should play out to be one tremendous game on both sides. GOOD LUCK TO DCA and I HOPE ALL PLAYERS STAY INJURY FREE.

TO YOU ALCOA FANS NO MATTER WHAT OTHERS SAY YOU GUY HAVE TALKED WITH CLASS ALL WEEK AND MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT. THIS DCA FAN DOESNT THINK YOU GUYS ARE COCKY, JUST CONFIDENT IN YOUR TEAM'S ABILITY AND DRIVE AS YOU SHOULD BE, YOUR TRACK RECORD UP UNTIL NOW IS REMARKABLE. I JUST FEEL DCA WILL BE THE TEAM TO TEST YOU AND WITH GOD WILLING MAYBE THEY COME OUT WITH A HUGE WIN. GO CATS!

Excellent post! How does DCA fans travel?? Do they usually bring a pretty huge crowd? I hope so because the first 2 rounds there weren't many fans in the visitor seats. Good luck and drive safe. Maybe DCA fans should come down early and go sight seeing in the Great Smoky Mtns!! Let the Freedom Fest begin! Alcoa fans should know what I'm talking about! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

  12. not today for sure.. but friday maybe there will be a little shock in Alcoa town, but I am glad you got your kicker back, at least he will get to play in 1 game /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

What you're not understanding is our kicker just may be the key to the game. Field position will play a huge part in this game and 85% of his kicks are in the endzone! He has a heck of a foot!

  13. If Alcoa can defend CAK's attack, which obviously they did, then they will be able to guard DCA's.

You have a good point, but I do believe if Alcoa chooses to play man coverage and can't get to the qb then it will be a long night, but I do think the coaches will have the players more than ready for this game. I've got my reservations for next weekend! Alcoa by 17!

  14. DCA will certainly have to play their best game of the year to have any chance at all. Having said that, they do have some serious offensive weapons and the best balance (passing and rushing) that Alcoa may have seen this year (in 2A of course) I have seen several comments about Alcoa's pass defense and that it may be more vulnerable this year than in years past, however, I think it would take a very balanced team and not a one dimensional effort to have any chance for the upset and that still may not be enough. You think they would agree to only play their starters for one half, regardless of the score? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

I know I've been talking bad about Alcoa's secondary this year and lord knows they've given up some big plays, but I honestly think it's the scheme that Nix is calling. He seems to be playing alot of man to man coverage with players that aren't fast and athletic enough to play man coverage. Cobb is the only db I'd trust playing press man, but I'm not the coach so what do I know?

  15. ROLL TIDE................. GO REBELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11ALCOA MIGHT AS WELL GET READY TO GET BEAT AND GET USED TO THE FACT THAT PEABODY IS THE BEST TEAM IN 2AA

Who the heck is Peabody and where are they even located?? I've never even heard of this team! I really hope you guys make it to the Boro because you guys have no idea what it takes to win a gold ball! Good luck friday!

  16. Saw Duck, Rae Rae and BW at the G-P game Friday, I'm sure thay worked Cobb over before thay went up to see Kyrus on Saturday.

The Orange winning the East was as much of an upset as the Rough Riders winning the Grey Cup tonight. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Was a fun game to watch.

I talked to Duck at the game and he's not sure if he will even be at UT. He told me that Clemson and VT wants him to play linebacker and Memphis told him he could play RB. He's looking at going to a school like Memphis and being the star back.

  17. Tennessee wants him as a QB this for go vols.com

The Tornadoes (11-1) are the three-time defending Class 2A state champions and play Gatlinburg-Pittman (11-1) Friday at 7 p.m. in the state quarterfinals.

Cobb said this past summer that Kentucky would give him a look at quarterback but most likely at defensive back or receiver. Cobb said Monday that the Vols wanted him solely as a signal caller.

"Tennessee is actually looking at me as a quarterback and only at quarterback," said Cobb. "That’s pretty big, because in my heart I feel like I’m a quarterback. I’m willing to play to any position, but that’s one of the key things that has me interested in them right now. But, I’m going to wait until after the season to look into that."

Cobb also said Tennessee's track record has his eye.

I wouldn't put money on him going to UT when I find out I'll let you know.
