  1.

This is the year for Blackman. They are senior dominated and deep this year. They have an elite player in Darius Thompson. They will be a good team next year but I don't think this good.

This description fits DC to a T as well , just replace DT with Robert Hubbs

  2. Robert had visitors at Dyer County today clad in Red ...my sources tell me he's not favorable to the color Red..I believe its Duke Blue for him

It was Georgia and I think he ends up a Vol. Duke just landed a highly rated wing the other day that will probably weigh very heavy in his decision process.

  3. Poythress is the best player in the state! Period, end of discussion! Clarksville has good basketball! And if you dont believe that, believe this: Poythress was one of the top 3 players at the LeBron James Skills Camp last summer, which is a collection of the best players from around the COUNTRY! Not to mention that he dominated the EYBL this summer too. Hubbs is a nice kid but he isnt close to Poythress's level.

Looks like rivals disagrees with your assessment of Hubbs. At the same point in their career Hubbs is ranked higher than AP.

  4. Robert Hubbs should have been in the three finalist for AAA Mr. Basketball. Hope they advance so more people will appreciate his talent. Agree they need to play a sub state game at home, but they have a tough road just to get to a substate game. They did not play well in the District Tournament.

I said it once and I'll say it again there will never be a Mr. Basketball winner from DC because they aren't covered by a major media market. Even the Jackson Sun doesn't

cover the Choctaws. Sad but true.

  5. I've not seen any of the 3, just going by the fact Ridgeway and Southwind are both Ranked in the Top 25 in the Nation.

Alot of that has to do with media exposure too. Which DC has very little of. The bottom line is McCord hasn't had to put the game in Hubbs hands very much but, when he does he delivers. I have seen all three and there is really not to much difference in them.

  6. If Southwind and Ridgeway are standing between Dyer County and State, they wont be there.

You are aware DC already played SW and lost by only 4 on a neutral court and lead most of the game To say they won't make is pretty bold. I'm not saying they will win but, it is certainly not a foregone conclusion they will lose.

  7. [i agrees about the district. They have played a strong non- district schedule. I am not saying Poythress shouldn't win. He is a fantastic player. But to say it's a cut and dry issue is not accurate in the least.

o offense, but Dyer Co.'s district isn't that strong. However, it is who they have to play and also their non-district schedule is very tough. With that being said, Clarksville NE has played NOBODY that is a legit contender in AAA. Maybe Brentood? whom they lost to as well. Poythress should be having his way against Kenwood, Rossview, West Creek etc... Now, that I'm done saying that, Jonathan J3 Williams from Southwind is having a great season against much stronger competition in Memphis. He also played a good game against Arlington Country Day as well as Dyer Co. There's no way that Poythress is a clear cut favorite as Mr. Basketball for this year. Just because he's going to Kentucky doesn't make him the best in Tennessee.

  8. You are an idiot if you don't think Poythress is the best in the state. Who is the best? considering Poythress is averaging about 30 a game

Him averaging 30 a game could be a product of two things. The competition he plays and the other options there are on his team. Does he play the competition night in and night out that the Memphis schools and Dyer County plays? I think we all know the answer to that. Also J3, King, and Hubbs have other viable D1 talent to disperse points to. Poythress does not. By your reasoning, a person that plays at UT Martin and averages 25 pts a game is better than Michal Kidd-Gilchrist at Ky. If you think he's the best by a wide margin, you will be surprised if you go to the Boro and see them side by side. I have seen them all and I think that there could be 3 players rated as high or higher in the Jr class than Poythress is this year. With that being said any of the 4 mentioned are well deserving.

  9. Both players are excellent players but to say that Hubbs is not on the same level as Poythress is not accurate at all. Hubbs by rivals accounts is one of if not the fastest rising prospect in the country. He hasn' t had as much hype around him since DC is in rural West Tennessee and the 2013 crop in Memphis is so strong. Fact of the matter is that a player from DC will never win Mr. Basketball because of simple geographics.

  10. So explain...with the addition of the Knox West kicker next year (who is good but not on the same level as Sharp) will that not be 3 kickers on scholarship? Or is he a recruited walk on?

He basically is a walk-on from what I have been told. In his case he can receive funding from state and federal grants and be within the parameters of the NCAA. He can't however receive institutional funding from UT other than a football scholarship. Plus Darr is on scholly to punt, so with Palardy and Bullock (if he was on scholarship) you still would only have 2 kickers on scholly.

This is just what I have been told by someone "in the know."

  11. We'll see. Maybe he'll turn out better than that other kid from HC whom a lot of other coaches thought was good too... Teague anyone?

I respect Teague for sticking with his commitment to the Vols. WHich had me wondering, when was the last time a Maryville alumn went D1 and actually stuck with their initial commitment?

    Cade Thompson?

    Tyler Maples?

    Brent Burnette?

    Aaron Douglas?

Just Saying. Don't get mad either, I just think that attacking Teague in this argument is a little unfair. We all love OUR players (FROM WHOEVER YOU REPRESENT).

  12. The only down thing on them would have to be size. Hubbs is there biggest guy, and he's tall, maybe not the strongest kid. I agree with the schedule being easy though, in respect to the others in the district. I just hope these guys dont end up making state and gettin up there against very talented teams and gettin beat. High Hopes though!

They will not be overwhelmed if they make it to state. Believe me the two teams that come out of the West will already have seen the best the state has to offer before they get to the boro. Sectionals might be a wakeup call though!

  13. I agree.Dyer Co has an excellen t team but hasn't played any top echelon teams like dcballas stated.Don't see anyone in the distict that will beat Dyer Co or anyone on the schedule during the regular season.Brighton may could give them a decent game with Demetrius Dyson and also have another good player in Starks but don't think they have enough overall.I think Dyer co goes undefeated during the regular season as far as the local schools.Don't know the type of teams they'll be facing in Florida.Would loved to have seen them play the Florida team that was in Dyersburg a couple weeks ago.

I would love to see DC host a tournament with some top flight teams. I am sure a couple of the better Memphis teams wouldn't mind coming up. Maybe some of the Atlanta area and St. Louis area teams too.
