1. If you are asking about the SC/GHS coaches, I'll give you a little run down as I know it. Gordonsville's coach played high school ball at Gordonsville but began coaching at SC, this is his 2nd year at GHS since coaching at SC for 6. His assistant then is the head coach at SC now, he has coached the Owls for one year. He played high school ball at SC. Hope I helped you out!

correction... he began coachin at pshade where he won a state championship with yours truly lol. been forever since i got on here. been missin out on all the fun

  2. JC got in foul trouble but so did RBS. they sat 2 of their scorers down in the 2nd for bout 3 minutes. thats when JC got their 10-13 point lead which they held throughout the game. lady blue devils came out firing with a 11-0 lead but RBS fought back to get it within 2 at one point. if JC has one weakness its on the ball defense. they got took to the hole alot off the dribble. i believe they had an off night shootin tho. really deep and talented team. RBS is still very inexperienced and its these games that will help them in the 2nd half of the season. i think with each game they will get better with their composure and gain confidence. i can see them makin a good run if they play well the later portion of the season.

  3. It wasn't his coaching ability that led to that. If it had been up to me...he would still be here.

me too. things would have been alot different then.

as far as this transfer ppl jus need to let it go. her and her parents decided this was in her best interest and are followin it up in the legal way. i hate to see her leave but i think she has the talent and heart to achieve any goal she wants. i wish her the best. i also think RBS will rebound nicely and will show everyone they can play ball. they will compete with JC and clarkrange for the title like always. it'll be a fun year.

I did not say she wasn't the best and with the 1000 points at this point, how can I say you are wrong.

Question my knowledge of basketball is you want. I question your loyalty to the Red Boling Springs Basketball team. If you really cared about the TEAM, you would not be on here talking up one player this way unless you were promoting her for an award. You would be finding ways to credit everyone around her for her success. I guess now you will do that to show me up. Ha.

Like someone else said, I believe one of your fans or district opponent’s fans, basketball is a team sport. She is not going to win a single game by herself.

This is not to take away from Ms. Leonard’s accomplishments. She has to be pretty darn good to get to 1000 points in less than 2 years. Great job young lady.

About an hour after writing this post, I am back to say one more thing. Congrats to the entire RBS girl's team. Without great teammates, Ms. Leonard would not be succeeding like she is doing. Great teamwork. Keep it up and you will be playing for championship for many years.

...if i was buildin up anybody it'd be my lil sister who plays for that team. teams get team awards...great players get individual awards. last time i checked this thread was about laken achieving an individual goal. yes she does have a great team around her and alot of help but she scored 1000 points...not her team. congrats to her on that. congrats to the RBS team on an excellent season finishin up with a 26-3 record. very impressive.

We played RBS in a payday game before the season and I was very impressed with the team as a whole. Although Leonard is good, I did not see anything that made me believe she was the best player on the team. but maybe she is. There was several players that played vital rolls on this team and may be more valuable than leonard, I am not close enough to the team to know for sure. Maybe they just play as a team and make each other better. I compare them talent wise almost identical to our team. Good luck to RBS and congrats to Ms. Leonard on her scoring records.

...she's the best on the team. i question ur knowledge of basketball after that statement. laken is a great player. she'll only get better. 3000 points in a career is a rare accomplishment. i think she has a great chance to get up there.

  6. QUOTE(Antwan @ Jan 25 2007 - 06:35 PM) 826345992

    Gee...she's not a guard...she's a center. Yeah...anybody could have 25 points...15 rebounds...and 12 blocks a game on a weak team. Yeah...happens all the time.

The transfer rumors are just that...rumors. I think she is very happy at home. I've heard she's transferring to JC...RBS...Shelbyville...Wilson Central. Wonder what I'll hear tomorrow?

she'll be in SC the rest of her high school...prolly safe to say. and if she doesnt win this year...she'll win it the next 3 years. ppl say its cuz she's 6'8...but the girl can play...especially for a freshman. she is the most valuable player...take away her ur takin away maybe the most dominant post prescense in the state. her impact on a single game is unreal. teams r shut down in the paint. u have to be able to light it up from outside to have a chance. and whats the scariest thing...she'll only get better.

  7. QUOTE(options86 @ Jan 21 2007 - 08:33 PM) 826340362

Both these teams are very good and competitive. I just hope that one of the underdog teams(who are competitive) don't upset in region! Maybe I didn't clarify my answer with stlifer, she steps up when she get the ball, and she is open!!

i agree. a great player not only scores when someone is on her but also makes shots when she is open.

  8. QUOTE(BuffaloFan @ Jan 20 2007 - 07:31 AM) 826338809

Correct me if I am wrong...5 players foued out? two for Clarkrange and three for RBS. a total of 44 fouls combined. It was a physical game, but called pretty evenly. I'll admit that you could tackle someone and not get a call, then get a hand check on the next play.

Rich is the most underestimated player in the district. Jessica Green shut down Leonard.

Here's something for debate...Kelli Reed 19 points.....Laken Leonard 14 points...hard to compare them because they play different roles....maybe the two best freshmen in the state????? (and they both wear #52...). Reed played an awsome second half and played a great game. She deserves a lot of credit for the win.

reed is a good player but comparin points in a single game doesnt mean a thing. reed had 7 free throws in the final two minutes. if they score woulda been different it could have been laken with those points instead. both r great players and will make a good rivalry the next 4 years.

  9. She had 38 and they won by about 20 wednesday night I think. But if she is not in the game, their scoring goes way down. But if you had a girl who was 6'6'' pr 6'8'', wouldn't you run everything through here to? You have to, it wouldn't make sense not to. But I see what you are saying, maybe they go to her to much, but I've seen her play enough to know that it's not like the ball is going into a black hole, she passes the ball well, and often. I wouldn't care if it was like throwing it into a black hole, as long as we won. If she is going to score all the time, and break all kinds of scoring records, well I would want to be the one getting her the ball and breaking the assist records. I wouldn't worry about scoring a point, if I had a player like her on my team.

i agree but its tough playin a half court game with teams such as upperman, LA, and MC who r ya'll up tempo style teams. but havin her on the team is a blessin no doubt.

  10. One cannot bunny hop---traveling---

there is a power hop which is taught at higher levels which is not travelin at all. u see college players and pros do it. some high school players kno it. the refs will mistake it for a travel sometimes due to the distance u get when u take that extra hop b4 ur shot. its a great move but is mistaken for a travel way too much. few years back beechboard for LA used this move all the time. one of the few girls i've seen use it.

  11. but in reality that they will miss sleeper (ZERO) because there will be no jealously in the team or with the parents. Just my opinion. GO LADY BEE's!!!!!!!!!!!

no jealousy to begin with. we still wish SC the best. and dont think i dont kno who u r. got the whole family in ur name. kinda cute. ;)

good luck to SC tho. sounds like it was a good game. alot of ppl tend to overlook macon for some reason. they have excellent guards and can be deadly if they r shootin well.

  12. "the offense is ferris. no one else does anythin except get her the ball. take her out show's over. dont get me wrong i think she is a great player but other ppl r gonna have to score if they plan on winnin anythin. shannon is movin schools. i'm not gonna get into details but it wasnt pretty. good luck to smith county from here on out. i guess i gotta say go RBS. haha."

This was posted on another thread by sleep23. I know for a fact Shannon has never been told not to shoot. I would hate for this all to have come from worrying who was gonna be the star, night in night out.

Not sure what the reason was she left, and really don't care, just hate it for Shannon.

I believe if a player isn't playing to their ability then they shouldn't be in the game, let someone who is on and focused be in there until up recover and get it all together. Shannon has a pretty shot and when she is on she will light it up, and her defense is awesome, but everyone has an off night, and maybe Shannon hadn't gotten lit up yet and got fustrated with herself. With that I think you should stop and think before you jump to conclusions and do something in the heat of the moment. I would have like to seen Shannon wait till morning light to see if she still felt the way she did that night, or if when she really thought about it she calmed down. And every parent loves their child and believes they are the best, even though we love our children it is our place to praise them and tell them by morning light it will be different or wait until we calm down to talk to the coaches. I know I would fight a circle saw for my children, but there is always a time and place for everything. I know I have wanted to tear a head off over mine myself.

I really hate this for Shannon, because whether or not Ferris ever becomes a great ballplayer she is 6'8 and will bring alot of recruiters to Smith County, more than have been there in many years. Shannon could have gotten several good offers from Colleges other than small ones to play ball maybe even a DI school if she continued to progress. I just hope this didn't hurt her in the long run.

    Good Luck in RBS

Good Luck Owlettes this season, play hard, play together.

good post but there is alot more than jus that one game and what happened. shannon can take gettin yelled at and havin an off night. we knew kasey was gonna draw scouts. i was excited for this whole team when we got her. this has nothin to do with her or the spotlight or scoring. like i said it was many events between her and the coach which i thought were out of line too. on and off the court. i'm not goin into details on here like i said but it wasnt very professional of him from my point of view. but RBS has a very good player in laken and goin to the state tournament draws scouts as well. i feel RBS has a much better chance than SC to do that. so i think it'll work out fine.
