Lady Dawgs defeat Monterey by a score of 57-40.
i may have read the tennessean wrong but i think the score was 57-30

I would call that response a rise...no doubt RBS is for real. Do you guys actually think we look at RBS as a fluke. I think Leonard is actually a much better weapon off the block. Gentry is a good player, but I would not call her "dominant." RBS kills you by kicking it back out and knocking down the outside shots/spreading the defense. Their style is no secret.
I stand by my statement, even without seeing Reed (CHS) vs. Leonard (RBS) head-to-head, Reed is just as good, if not better. She is the real deal. Maybe the two best rookies n the state.
Very, very impressive that they beat Livingston. I thought RBS deserved to be ranked preseason #1 in the state, until yesterday when they lost to Summertown and Richland???? and the Summertown game wasn't even close at the end???? What in the world happened? Those two teams must be good.
I expect a very tough game versus Forrest Tuesday. Does RBS play Tuesday, if not, I would expect them at the Range, along with our other 7A mates to see this matchup.
Two questions/comments for Swanson/RBS fans:
1. The jamieroper guy is coming down hard on Coach White on some other threads for his antics. I use to feel the same way, but you just gotta kinda know Coach White. right? He is a good guy/coach. He is very emotional. That's what makes him fun to compete against. He gets so tore up.
2. You guys played Temple last year in substate right? or was it Jackson County who played them? Did you see were the Rector girl from Temple signed with Mississippii State? Is this for real? Is she that good? I am blowed away that an SEC school would sign anyone out of Single A from Chattanooga right now. I am sure she is a good girl and all that, great stats, etc., but 7A/8A has dominated that area and I haven't scouted out anyone/anything in that area that is close to SEC material since the Mason girl from Chatt Christian a couple of years ago. Nothing personal, but I have always thought players had to prove it by winning big games to get big scholarships like that. Maybe she played AAU or something.
Yawn, back to work......
This girl may have really improved since I saw her play auu, but if not give me M. Snow any day of the week.

Pretty accurate. I would probly replace Massey with Gibbs. Thats just what I think though.
I am not a 7AA expert, but I think you had better add Katelyn Gregory from Macon County to the list.

LA will be very good this year, especially behind their superstar guard (don't know her name) who is hands down the best overall player in the district this year. HOWEVER, Upperman is also very prepared night in and night out, and they know that keeping the ball out of her hands drastically weakens this team. Upperman has the defensive quickness and ability to pull this off. If LA starts to take control inside, Upperman will just put in their new 6'3" center to get in the way and slow them down. It is not that LA cannot win this district, it is simply that Upperman should have an answer for everything LA does. It doesn't hurt that a majority of the game they will have in 5 girls who can hit any shot from anywhere. Enter the big girl - 4 girls who can shoot and post who is too tall for LA to stop. LA could win, but the odds are not in their favor.
the guard is a good player, but the best overall - not in my opinion- that goes to
Chelsea Taylor of Upperman without a doubt

It will be a long road trip for Forrest. They had better go ready to play.
It is always a long road trip to from anywhere to Clarkrange and Clarkrange is
really hard to beat at home, so if Forrest loses it really does not say a lot bad or good. The real test is when you play at a neutral site and remember these games
are basically just for bragging rights anyway. A lot can happen between now
and Feb/Mar.

I do love RBS wish them the best (HONEST), but stay focused, no matter what the predictions are, Jackson County does still have a girls basketball team. And as far as I know Jim Brown is still head coach. Lets keep things calm for now.

LAKEN IS NOT GOOD THE REFS BABY HER SO SHE PUTS UP GOOD STATS WHEN SHE PLAYS A REAL TEAM SHE GETS SHUT DOWN!!!!!!CONGRATULATIONS LAKEN UR AWESOME 5 POINTS OH YEAH!!!!!I HOPE UR AT UT SUMDAY!!!!ULL BE GOOD IN ANOTHER LIFETIME!!!!!!!!
This is a personal attack on a young kid. There is no place on these boards for
this. This post needs to be deleted.

I believe it does...and I would go to Celina to play if I were Coach White...I WOULD NOT go to Lafayette under any circumstance...But let's play the game before we talk about this...
AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The "Real Lady Dawgs" got lucky. A horrible shooting display by Clay Co. in the first half is the only reason they didn't win this game. That untimely tech didn't help much either.
Neither team shot worth a dime in the 1st half - if RBS had hit about half of the lay-ups they missed - it would not have even mattered about the T.
About the T, it was a big factor and I think changed the tempo of the game for
Clay Co. But the bottom line is - a Jr who has played that much ball sholud not have put her team in that position. Also, swanie is right, RBS played the 4th qtr not to lose instead of win and it almost cost them the game.
And luck is always a factor in tourneys - ask some JC fans about luck in
the last state title they won - something about fouls in the final 2 or 3 seconds
game vs Austin East
-
I do not think any one is complaining about 8A hosting the tourney or the quality of the gym floor itself.
They just want 8A to find a place to play that can hold the crowd both in
people and parking. Also, it just my opinion but I think all tourneys should
be in a neutral site. Food for thought - looks like Wilson Central or Cumberland
could have been considered.
-
Congratulations, Chelsey - you are a very good ball player as well as a
fine young lady - best of luck
-
yea they do need her next year but im not to sure on her condition as of now
They need one this year - they may be lucky to win more than 2 games in the ncaa tourn. if they do not handle the ball any better than they did against fla.
my thought is pat will be real glad to see this young lady

Clarkrange had two starters foul out and two with four fouls. The mythical five point play with a minute to go helped make it a four point game. Called a foul during a three point shot under the basket. RBS was in the double bonus, so they hit both their free throws. That made it a four point game. C-Range still pushed the score up after that mess and with two starters watching from the bench, including their best free throw shooters. C-Range missed 4 free throws in the last couple of minutes. Wasn't as close as you would think. That being said, I would not underestimate RBS in the tourny, could upset once or maybe even twice.
Unless I am mistaken RBS also had two starters to foul out, Leonard and Gentry,
and there was some question on a very early three point shot by c-range that
may have hit something in the ceiling of the gym. Also believe RBS missed an open lay-up and 2 free throws in the last few minutes. After hearing the rest of the story, this means that if both teams advance to the semi's it should be a really good game unless one team is just truly having a bad night.
What is a shame, is that 7A has at least 3 good teams (maybe even 1 more) that can play with anyone in class (A) and only 2 will make it out of the region.
However no need to discuss what one can not change.

Point Guards - Painter, Cravens, Maxwell
Wings - Ramsey, Apple, Rich, Dyer,
Posts - K Ross, Leonard, Howard, Watson, Harris
Hon. Mention: B Ross, Jordan, Sevier, Gentry, Wright, Atkins
The top 12 is really heavy on RBS, JC & C-Range, but really when
all is said and done this is where top of 7A is
-
I cant wait till this game, with the game being at RBS it should be a classic. If Ramsey is still shooting like she was at Upperman, RBS has no chance.
nor do the other teams in 7a (including JC)
-
Helton........Cookeville
Maynard.....Upperman
Davis.........Upperman
Sleeper......Smith Co
Phillips.......Clarkrange
5 that easily comes to mind
hassell - wilson central
-
It should be a good one with Leonard and Bussell battling in the post. With the injuries to Forrest, I'm not quite sure they are ready for Red Boiling Springs as the Lady Bulldogs are the deeper of the two teams. Regardless, it should be a pretty close game.
Unless I heard wrong Leonard will not play in this game, something about an out of town trip planned before it was decided for her to play high school ball
-
yep
most people tend to under rate point guards - most folks just see the points in
box scores - however lose the point guard (injury, etc) or not have a decent one - and you have a ship without a rudder - it just spins in circles and goes nowhere
-
That's good for'em to face different competition...
I think that is the reason for the change - several of the teams in the lafayette tourney are in the rbs tourney - playing the same teams in tourneys and also in regular season gets boring both for fans and players
-
All of you are overlooking Ezell Harding. All they lost last year were two seniors who hurt them more than they helped them. They gained two transfers who had to sit out last year who both start. They are a very well rounded team. All of their starters have potential to play in college. They are also undefeated right now. 8-0 about to be 9-0.
Agree 100% with this post - if you are looking for a team out of the Nashville
area this is the one to watch - not DL
-
Shouldnt they have won by way more??
But then again it was the first game and I have seen alot of scores already that I thought would have be alot worse!
From what I heard when the white took the varsity they were ahead by 20 +
also heard the officating was so bad it was funny - the game took over 1 1/2
hrs to play - there were more than 28 fouls called on both teams in the 1st half
alone - one rbs girl had 5 fouls but they did not foul her out untill the sixth
foul- points did not get put up on the board at one time until the bookkeeper
made the score board man aware of it -
i think 6 of the rbs players finished the game with 4 fouls - not including
the one who had 6
from hearing the parent's talk most thought the girls did a very good job of playing and not losing their composure in that type of atomsphere
-
Heritage Girls beat Red Boiling Springs and Merrol Hyde. They lost to Westmorland and Portland. They play portland during their regular season tho, and it is gonna be a good game when they face off again.
the RBS team Heritage played was the JV - not the varsity
