  1. How many scoring opportunities did upperman miss in the first half because of York's pass coverage and the rainy conditions?  They adjusted and started running the ball and York missed tackle after tackle.  Who teaches these boys how to tackle?  Who keeps calling pass plays when the conditions are terrible,  passes are short, passes are dropped, there is triple coverage on your receiver.  If York is struggling offensively then adjustments should have been made earlier.  I give Upperman coaches credit for adjusting that is why they won.  If York starts out great defensively then the other teams find our weaknesses score and keep running the same play to score more.  Where is York's adjustments?  Maybe York doesn't need to adjust but need to teach their players how to tackle.

Not taking away from Upperman as I thought I had stated.  I was pointing out that York had chances...just hit 3 of them and tie game.  Players didn't make plays on offense, as stated by another poster, in the run and pass game.  Upperman was the favorite and they showed why.  York has to improve defensively, don't know what the answer is, but they must improve.

  2. No I was not a Saturday morning QB, I was a Friday night QB with 1:39 to go, down by just 2, with the ball on York's own 24 yard line. When it appeared they were going for it on 4th down, everyone knew it was to pull LA offside to get the 1st down. But instead the coach needlessly gambled knowing what would happen if they didn't get it. These players have worked hard and could easily have been 3-3. I very much doubt you would find any coach who would say they would have called that play. And saying this coach needs to not gamble like this IS backing the Dragons.

I don't believe that was they reason they lost...they slapped an onside kick down for LA and made several penalties late that benefited LA.  I didn't agree with the gamble, but like I said...they scored on one run.  25 yards or 75 yards...the result would of been the same.  The defense didn't even get close to a stop.

  3. York missed 5 scoring opportunities...2 balls were under thrown when receiver was 10 yards behind DB.  Two dropped passes by TE/FB when he was behind defense and they would of had to chase him down(and more than likely not).  Also overthrew a receiver on half back pass by 15 yards.  Offensively they had chances to put up alot of points, but didn't execute.  Defensively they were on their heels and lost.  Upperman executed and York did not.

  4. The Crush team(Middle School) has had around 35 average the last 10 years.  The last 2 years they have had an average of 20.  This year they had 16 kids that were 12 years old in July.  only 8 kids will be back next year.  The community is pushing their kids through school at a very young age.  It makes it very hard on the young men that are trying and wanting to play.  hitme is correct...for some reason, several kids quit playing at the 7th and 8th grade level.  Maybe the Crush coaches don't do a good job asking them to keep playing, or maybe they are intimidated with the thought of moving up.  I think that the Crush coaches are fair and treat the players good.  Really don't know...they have been very successful even though most teams they play have twice the kids and spend more time preparing for season.  I am of course very biased.

  5. Very Solid Sequatchie team...lots of upperclassmen, very good win.  Very cheap shot by #6 on York's #14.  Didn't necessarily set me completely off even though #6 and #7 were fist bumping on their way back to the sidelines while they were carrying #14 off the field.  I got very upset when the refs threw a flag on the QB from York when in open field, 3 yards from a first down, he lowered his shoulder to protect himself from a defender that had squared him up to make the tackle to keep him from gaining a first down...and the refs threw a flag that carried the same penalty as the blatent cheap shot that has possibly ended a young mans career on the QB.  Have we allowed refs and the powers to be to ruin the game as we knew it?  How do those two penalties carry the same punishment?  Just curious if anyone has an opinion?

  6. Don't you people realize that Clarkrange and Jackson Co. think they should play for every gold ball every season..... Which they usually do.... Jackson is doing so this year..... Its hard for them to accept defeat by a team that is not suppose to have a chance and when they do lose it usually ends up like this thread.... No doubt both 7A teams will be there again next year..... I believe Clarkrange underestimated Meigs and it came back to bite them in the rear..... Nothing Clarkrange can do to change the outcome, just except defeat and improve this offseason for next year....

No one ever said Meigs shouldn't and couldn't beat Clarkrange, it was just the way it happened.  Only a blind man, one who listened on the radio, or an idiot didn't see the lop-sided officiating.  That being said, Meigs girls earned the win.  They did what they were allowed to do and made the plays and free throws they needed to.  Congrats to their final four appearance.

  7. Clarkrange will be the favored to win it next year. Two reasons, on paper they probably have the best talent coming back and I can assure you next year they will get good officials because of the controversy this year. We had a nightmare officiated game with Marshall County and McNeese got phone calls all year about the terrible officiating. One fan called him before the 2009 state tournament and asked him if we should even show up due to his bad referees. 2009 WR got up there and got good officiating as well as 2010. CR has raised enough cain officiating want be a problem next year.

Have been around Mr. Rogers for years, first time he has bashed officials privately or publicly that I can recall.  Even when I thought they played a role, he always gave an excuse that there was something his team did to lose.  Missed free throws, turnovers, etc...He is not a whiner and he has earned the respect to not be called one on here by anyone.  Good luck to your team and coach to to judged in that manner.

  8. 7a is always classy...and yes Coe needed some help.  That's the way it goes though.  They helped her get there and had a bad run.  The coach tried to let Coe beat them and changed their mind at half.  The bad night by her team help UC to the win.  That is basketball in a nutshell.  It only takes a bad game, quarter, or shot to change the outcome.  Congrats UC.

  9. I am a Clarkrange fan, so here it goes...lol.  I seen her play a few times.  When she is on she is very fun(appreciative) to watch (depends who you are cheering for of course).  She got away with a few pushes here and there, but a very good player.  Congrats to her for Miss Basketball and I hate she did not get the Gold (even though some in 7a were against them).  Good luck to her in the future.  7a watcher, I would have loved to see the match up between her and #25 from the CR 09 team.  Would have been very interesting.

  10. I was there and yes they were. Unbelievable he could even question those. Nothing ever was said about the CR bigs camping out in the lane for 7-8 seconds at a time. CONGRATS LTs

You are about the most uneducated basketball poster on here...you might want to go to the Middle School threads.  Celtic also.  People like you probably ref games, thats why there are so many "lob" sided games...lol

  11. Someone must have forgot to tell the referees that 7A is suppose to get all the breaks. Its really kinda funny that when its not a 7A final then we got to blame somebody.

Let me vent alittle.......If Jackson County had of been in the lower bracket, they would have never made it it to the finals. Jackson County wont even break a sweat in the upper bracket, guess who is fresh in the championship game? Advantage Jackson County. Seems like every year this happens.

And you watch 7A will have more All State players than the rest of the state. One year Clark Range had 4 All State players, that is just crazy. West Tennessee had two All State players that same year.

PS 7Awatcher, sorry for those remarks but you are still my buddy.

So what you are saying that even though 7 a wins the Gold ball every other year, they are not deserving of All-State players...you guys crack me up.  I guess the losing teams deserve the All State awards...lol

  12. LMAO at the whining of some CR fans and especially coach Lamar Rogers. Cry me a river. Just accept that your team was vastly outcoached and outplayed. Did Lamar whine like a baby when other teams they played got more fouls than his team? Of course not! I would suggest Lamar watch the video of the game and learn something about coaching. Just having all the talent he recruited won't win every game when you can't coach and make adjustments during the game. Read the article and you'll see whining like you've never seen.  I hope the TSSAA reprimands him.

I would suggest you watch the film...I doubt you even seen the game, but listened to it like Indian.

  13. Meigs girls did exactly what they needed to win, congrats to them...but only a blind person would say officials did not play a role.  I have watched Lamar for years and this is the first time he has ever mentioned officiating after a loss.  Thats well over a 1000 games.  It's not that CR did not foul, they probably deserved 75% of the fouls.  It was the fact that Meigs was allowed to get by with all the fouls they did and not get called.  They walked on almost every possession, hammered the big girl down inside, pushed off in open court, and hand checked them in open court.  Not upset about the calls on CR, more upset about the calls that wasn't made against Meigs.  If you get by with it, keep doing it until you are called.

Once again, Meigs girls did what they had to win.  They hit free throws and when it got close they hit a couple of big shots to regain and extend their lead.  In no way is this post negative about Meigs girls.  We just expect more balanced officiating in the State Play-offs

  14. I am not going to quote all the ignorance, but am going to respond as clear as I can.  There are reason for kids not to go to certain schools for certain reasons.  Coming into a school as a Freshman from 8th grade is in no way transferring.

I cannot get into details, because it is no ones business (including mine, but I know) why they went to Clarkrange and they all had very good reasons, with basketball being the least of their worries.  It definitely payed off for the young ladies and Clarkrange basketball.  They are all Fentress county products and we are proud of them all.  Has nothing to do with scholarships or academics.  Same as when the twins went to Clarkrange, they had very good reasons also.  As I am sure the young lady from RBS that went to JC.

I could count the transfers to both schools combined over the last 10 years on both hands(no need for toes not enough transfers).  Incoming freshman do not count, because they are not transfers.

  15. Clarkrange is a much better team with the "additions". If you call them transfers everyone from Clarkrange will flip their lids. All kidding aside, I think it will be a great game if they meet. Each of them have a VERY tough first round matchup to worry about first.

It's not like someone's dad got a job making 50k a year now is it...you and your pep club ought to bury that notion and keep to yourselves.

  16. Good game between two good teams.  C'range went on a 14-2 run at the end of the 1st half and through the 3rd quarter which proved to be the difference.  JC needs to shoot the ball well to beat this team from C'range.  The new transfers made a huge difference in the game and I really like the big girl she is going to be a very good player when its all said and done.  Not sure where they got the refs but they were horrible but horrible both ways.  I have never seen the one lady ref call a game at any level and how she got a big game like this is beyond me.  C'range was the best team on the floor tonight and it will be up to JC to make adjustments and get better before the next game in 2 weeks at the friendly confines of Clarkrange where they are even tougher to beat.  JC's supporting cast needs to play well and tonight they did not, but this is only the first game.  All that matters is the last game everything up to that point is just for bragging rights.  Hats off to the girls from CR they did something that hasn't been done by a district opponent in over 5 years and that is beat JC on their home floor.  The last team to do it was.... Clarkrange when they went undefeated in 08'.

Can you explain transfers to me please.
