Maybe I'm missing something. Can others follow this logic?
Seems to me if the in-town privates aren't that good and are "recruiting" kids from your zone, you'd gladly play them and beat them soundly, thus nipping the practice in the bud.
On another topic, you had to know there were going to be posters on here taking shots at the Ooltewah QB (the coach is old and out of touch too, right?). From what I listened to he was continually pressured, got very little help from his receivers and maybe even less from the running game. In addition the Ooltewah defense couldn't stop a 1-dimensional offense, while the special teams were dominated by Oakland. Sounds like a thorough team loss.
The whole point is Ooltewah will never play private schools. Not for an easy win, not to beat the kids that should be at Ooltewah. The administration just won't let them play private schools, I am sure alot of the players would love too. Therefore, none of the other public schools in Chattanooga or East TN will play them because they don't want to lose, they would rather have an easy win against a different opponent, so Ooltewah only plays 9 games.

And also, I just want to say hats off to Oakland. They were a better team and proved it tonight out on the field. They didn't have great success from running it right at Ooltewah but Precious was able to get outside on those sweeps and make a living. Oakland was huge and so physical and Ooltewah just got whipped up front.
The biggest thing for the Owls is that they have so much speed at the skill positions but they couldn't get the ball to the receivers tonight. One because they had no time and the pressure from Oakland was great. But two because the Owls QB could not make the throws when he had too, and missed alot of receivers tonight. Oakland was by far the best team the owls have played. I was very impressed with their running back who had great size and was deceivingly fast.
I have heard from several people that if the Owls won tonight that they would have a tough time beating Franklin because they were so good and physical, but i have a hard time believing that they could be more physical that this Oakland team. Great Job.
And Great crowd you all brought out tonight. Hats off to you. Good Luck.

If you check I believe McCallie has played 10 regular season games the last 2 years and Ooltewah has played 9, I would venture to say Ooltewah does not want to play Div II schools. Ooltewah will come to nash to maplewood and whites creek. Also Ooltewah even has rep on Legislative council of tssaa. Rdale played McCallie, Smyrna played BA.
I'm sure they have a good reason for not wanting to play them but not play and only have 9 game season?
Ooltewah has never and will never play private schools from anywhere. Thats how it has been for as long as I remember. The administration doesn't want to because half of the kids that play for local private schools in Chattanooga are probably suppose to be at Ooltewah therefore, Ooltewah won't play them. And the normally aren't that great anyway, with the exception of a few years, one being when that BJ Coleman led team beat Riverdale. The reason Ooltewah only plays 9 games is because no one in Chattanooga or East TN for that matter will play them because they don't want to lose. They would rather just take an easy win against a different opponent than play Ooltewah. Thats why Ooltewah has to go into Mid TN to find teams to play. And I think Ooltewah actually plays Franklin next year. Thats why Ooltewah won't play private schools and why they only play 9 games.

How is it not? Ooltewah hasnt faced 5 big tuff running backs this year on one team. They might have the best uve seen but u might need glasses. Oakland is #1 in opp yrd per game not Ooltewah. It hasnt worked for anyone youve faced but Oaklands running game is key and is a reason why we won our region. Your region doesnt have a team with 5 running backs and is why Ooltewah shut down the run keying on 1-2 backs. Oaklands strength is our entire team not just one aspect. So plan on stopping the entire offense and blocking the entire defense and punting it out of the hands of B.J Nelson!
Well you can only play one or two running backs at a time. So that is fine if you have 5 running backs. You can't play them all at the same time. And Ooltewah has played teams with multiple running backs already.
Good Luck

Well then Lost Old Dad that isn't good for Oakland. Ooltewah has the best run defense I have ever seen at the high school level. Running the ball has worked for no one against Ooltewah, and if thats Oakland's strength, Then I like the Owls.

I don't know about Region 4 but i know that Region 2-5A is pretty dang tough. All of the Region 2 teams beat the Region 1 teams in the first round of the playoffs. Including the 4 seed McMinn County beating highly ranked Dobyns Bennet.
Seems like a pretty tough region to me.

Farragut had 2.. Count them.. 2 First Downs the entire game

Does anyone know if Halls and Carter Scrimmage Friday (Aug. 15)?
I just found out they Scrimmage at 6 at Halls. Does anyone know what type of team Carter will have this year?

Ooltewah only has 4 classes a semester. So if he did fail all his classes the first 9 weeks, then he still has 9 weeks to get his grades up to where they should be. And he will do that and lead the owls again next season.

I take it Cory did not play?

They said he got into a fight or something of that nature and was suspended from school. In the paper it said he was suspended from the team indefinately, but at the game the other night they acted like he might be back or something so I don't know??
-
Anyone notice where in the Big Ones only 10% of the people have picked Ooltewah to win tonight?
-
He didn't get ejected though. Refs are allowed to tell a player to exit the game in that situation. I have seen it happen many times. Talley was on the floor when the game ended.
-
I was talking to josh mcalpin today(had the technical called on him in OT) and he said after the game he was walking out to his car and the ref that called the 'T' approched him and told him that "Y'all (SD Players) should be ashamed of the way yall act when yall are on the floor and how you talk back to us". From what i could tell the brainerd players were the only ones complaining about the calls. Coach shumate told the trojans after last fridays game with brainerd not to even look at the officials if they make a call. And what was up with Emanuel Talley getting ejected from the game, but no tech's called????? I just don't understand why these officials are so horrible. Soddy played there hearts out and deserved to win the game and the officials took it away from them.
On another note for the game thursday, i believe ooltewah will beat brainerd by more than 8, and i don't know if soddy will be emotionally prepared to play again, today at school all the players were pretty bummed about the game, i hope they can pull it together.
Go Trojans!!
Did I miss something?... Emmanual Talley got ejected?
I know that Ooltewah's assistant Coach got ejected without recieving any technicals against Temple last Tuesday. And he did not have to sit out any games cause no techs were issued. But I don't think that Talley got ejected cause i could have sworn he was on the court at the end of the game.

BallaBush, Soddy Daisy should have won that basketball game. I know that Ooltewah wanted to play Brainerd though. They want to avenge the losses that Brainerd gave them earlier in the year, and I know for a fact that every player for Ooltewah wishes that Corey Sanders were playing so there are no excuses if Ooltewah does beat them without him. I think for the games sake it would have been better if Ooltewah and Soddy were finals together cause it would be a bigger crowd and better atmosphere.
-
MNewBaller21 is right. The final was 64-51 Soddy Daisy. At the end of the first it was 14-5 Soddy. Central never led in the game.
-
I take it that is your dream finals...
-
Central vs. Soddy Daisy tonight, should be a good game. What does everyone thing?
-
I guess people just feel better blaming their loss on the ref. Does that alleviate the pain? And if you are not blaming it on the ref, you are still complaining and it doesnt matter. The refs were not horrible. There were some questionable calls, but nothing extremely drastic. Give it up. what seed is ooltewah gonna be in the tourny?
We are the 2 seed in the District Tournament. More than likely play Red Bank, unless Soddy Daisy beats Brainerd on Friday.
-
Not exaclty sure cause I missed the part where all this happend, but they said they were just yelling you stink and that kind of things at the ref and he got a little carried away. No profanity was used or anything though from what i heard.
Good game Sean.

Our thoughts are still with him and his family. Its a good thing that Central is doing that for his family and him.
