  1. How bout the Brentwood Soccer Club being represented in every age bracket in the finals except the U18. Where was TNFC? Ummmmmmmmm, guess decisions made last year by TNFC weren't very good decisions.

TNFC had to clean out the rodents that were killing it. TNFC is in better shape than ever after withstanding a complete lack of leadership for 4 years that tried to kill the program. TNFC has a healthy happy growing membership, a new professional competent board, great soccer leadership from the new DOC and TD, unbelievable fields and a ton of them, tons of skill programs, great young teams with great young players and an energetic talented new coaching staff. TNFC is happy with where we currently reside.

The big difference is that TNFC is happy for Brentwood to do well and represent Tennessee. Its Brentwood that has negative posts gloating about bumps in the road that TNFC had in the past and ironically caused by the same people that got kicked out and joined Brentwood. TNFC's past problems now reside at Brentwood. Hope it works out. But TNFC is glad that Brentood did well at state. They deserve it. We do our thing without worrying about others. We hope everyone does well and helps kids learn to play soccer. But its a new day and a new positive attitude for TNFC now that the problems have left. Our teams and players will do just fine in the future.

  2. If the only result of state was to just come out with a winner, then I could agree with you, but one of the results of the state tournament is that the top two teams get to play in the Premier league the next year. That is very important in that both teams get very good competition and automatic entries into the next year state tournament with the top two seeds.

So while you might think it is complaining, I look it is trying to make it the best and fairest system for all the kids. We had a better system several years ago when we had the semis and that is still the fairest way to try and have the best two teams in the finals.

You make a good point. Getting the top two teams for premier league does make sense. Its not just the winner that needs to be considered.

you are spot on. BWSC picked up 4 TNFC coaches including the MBA coach.

I have also heard that there is a struggle integrating IMPACT's 'win at any cost' teams into the DOC's new 'Academy' philosophy.

Personally, I am torn because I hate to see any club struggle. However, I do think consolidation would be good for middle Tennessee clubs and players in State and Regional competition. East TN and West TN seem to be ahead of us is this regard.

Im a TNFC parent and TNFC isnt struggling at all now. The merger with Impact brought in a flux of new talented coaches, hard working volunteers, and talented players. I have been very impressed with waht i am seeing from the the new TNFC. Everything about the new TNFC is better today in every category. The people that left, good riddance. They caused the problems in the first place. Why no one understands that is beyond me. Now that they are gone, real management, and the opportunity for a great soccer club now exists. Everything else is propaganda from other clubs trying to tear TNFC down. TNFC is doing great now that the old regime is gone. TNFC is now a great place to be. That simple.

  4. Im pretty sure the state has tried every formula possible. Each system has its pros and cons. If you play semi-finals, the purist say its to many games, to hard on the players. If you dont, then some say the best two teams dont make the finals or the best team may have one bad game and is now out with no chance to redeem themselves.

I say if your truly the best team, then it doesnt really matter what the schedule is or who you play. If your truly the best team, then you should win. Cuz if you lose (even on a bad day), then you werent truly the best team (you were one of the teams that had a chance to win state) but you couldnt get it done when it counted, so therefore, you cant say you were the best team. The team that beat you was the best team.

So we need to stop complaining(or that may be strong),(stop trying to always change it) about the format and what is fair and whats not. TSSA has done it every way possible with complainers every year no matter how its done. Just play the games and win them. That simple. and if you cant do that, then just say we werent good enough to win state. Dont blame the format. The format doesnt play offense for you and deosnt play defense for you. If you lose, you just lose. Congratulate the other team and work hard toward next year.

  5. The TNFC tournament is going to be bigger and better than ever this spring. Our fields are fantastic and will be great to play on this spring. Inclement weather and not ruining fields is a concern for every club not just TNFC. Our indoor tournaments are going to be unique with a different overall fun environment to participate both when your playing and when your just hanging out. Check it out at

    TNFC.org

We will be offering events both indoor and outdoor that are fun to attend. Plus, get great competition while playing on great facilities. If your an out of town team you should consider coming to an indoor event this winter. You can get all your games in on one day and have a great time with the overall event. We do indoor different. Its acturally fun for a change.

The tournament at TNFC was great this fall. Good weather certainly helps. The fields are in incredible shape. It was super organized, officiating was good, and the overall atmosphere was simply fun.

  6. peterw makes some very good points....Ridgeway was possibly the best team period in the last 4 years, regardless of division...and to the coaches credit did not hold them back...he reached their potential...

i also agree, as stated in my earlier commment that jimmy weekly is the best overall coach in high school...he also was one of the first coaches to effectively introduce zonal defending to the girls games...

  7. Wolff is a good soccer coach....but Rideway plays in the A/AA bracket..very little competition...plus he had Ashley Eason (national team pool player), and Jenille Newborn (regional odp player) on the team for 4 straight years...in the A/AA bracket with those two players...just about any coach could have won state...Those two were literally unstoppsble at the A/AA level..I want to see Rideway win the state title this year..and that will show me something....

  8. maybe they should just expand it to include everyone...its a joke to include more team.....with 3 divisions its already a diluted state tournament. teams with average ability and possibly losing records already make the final four of there division on a regular basis. i think the regular season should mean something. if you dont win, then you dont advance....right now, the district tournament means nothing....you can lose in the finals and still advance...and the same for region.....if you lose, you ought to have to go home....if you dont like that hard rule, then simply win the ball game and you dont have to worry about it....

  9. for 2003 fall

division II: Baylor state champs (wont even be close: senior dominated class full of top select players). Plus jimmy weekly is the top coach in high school soccer. BGA has several bona fide stars (jamie bullock, tara hodson) and some new youngsters to help (haley proffit), so they should get back to the final four. Pope John Paul the new catholic school has some big time talent and top players and could make a splash onto the scene(zero depth though).

AAA: hendersonville: state champs: Andrea Stefak is a star and will be a senior with plenty of help from 10 and 11th graders. If everyone stays healty, coach plummer could be the suprise state champ.

Franklin had huge graduations losses but still should be a factor because of monica duhnam. Centennial will be loaded with strong young talent and could be a factor. Brentwood should be above average. Germantown will be down for both schools. Timing could be right for hendersonvile.

  10. Ive coached high school and DI girls select in TN for over 12 years. I believe Jimmy Weekly from baylor is the top girls coach in the state. HIs Baylor girls are not always the most talented but he still wins state championships year after year. He simply out coaches the competition who often have better talent. That is not a knock on the other coaches. Weekly is simply in a league to himself in high school soccer. He is over qualified for high school actually. Kinda not fair to the others.
