well theirs a new coaches association(http://www.dbsoccer.org/TSCA/TSCA.htm) but it didn't into effect until the 1st of this month and the ballots weren't due until january 5th

the girl on my team that got all state wouldn't have known unless i told her mother

That's funny and sad at the same time. Our girls wouldn't have known this year if it hadn't been for this message board. We weren't aware the assoc. had changed. Maybe they will get it out faster next year.

    no thats the official list

our newspaper only mentioned the 1 girl that got all state

I knew the list was the correct TACA list. I figured someone released it early. Usually our coach calls the girls if anyone made it but only after TACA has "officially" released it. Then the local papers print it in some really small print in the "Scoreboard" section of the sports page.

So far the girls haven't been called and the paper hasn't printed anything. It came out so long after the season ended maybe everyone forgot, lol. Hope they do a better job getting it out earlier next year. 2 l/2 months after the season ends seems kind of ridiculous.

Question on "All State". I think I have seen at least two different lists of girls making all state. Is there an "offical" list. If one girl makes list A and another list B, which one is the real winner? I guess they both are, but what keeps someone from have list 3???? Why does Eurosport not have their 2006 All State????

I'm pretty sure the Eurosport All-State list is the TACA All-State List. There are only two All-State lists I'm pretty sure, TACA and TSWA. Has there even been an official TACA list released yet? The only TACA list I've seen has been on CoachT, on this message board. There hasn't been anything in the local mid-state papers as far as I know.

  4. Anyone know who selected this All-midtstate team? The stats just don't bear out some of these 1st team picks.

It is just my opinion, but stats don't always reflect the worth or contribution that a player makes to their team. I think it goes well beyond just stats. Stats can also be manipulated by allowing players to run up their personal numbers against weak teams if a coach allows it. My daughter's coach never allowed a player to score over 3 goals and usually not over 2 against any team, weak or strong, while some coaches allow players to score 5 or more on a weak team. It doesn't show the real skill of either player.

While I also don't agree with every name on not only the 1st team but also the 2nd and 3rd, I am sure the ones choosing had their own reasons for their choices and for the girls that made any of the teams and any other "All" list, I say Congratulations! With all the talent that exists in Tennessee, it's great to get recognized on any list.

  5. Where will the TSSAA all state awards be posted

TSSAA doesn't choose All-State awards. All-State Awards are chosen by the Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association (TACA) and the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TWSA). These usually come out around Christmas. There are other awards from the NSCAA, National Soccer Coaches Association of America, that also come out around Christmas, but I think they are based on more than just a players soccer stats, not really sure. They award All-South Region, All American and Academic All American honors.

  6. FRA played really well tonight and had like a billion shots it seemed. :o I think it was a good game considering fairview is not near as talented as FRA and a couple of the key players from fairview were not there. but all in all, great job to FRA. good luck!

Thanks ss. That was an incredibly difficult game to play with that much water on the field! It was more like a swim meet. :thumb: You girls play with alot of heart and you should be very proud of your effort. Your team has an amazing goalie. Best of luck for the rest of your run. You have much to be proud of!

  7. Sweetwater would be the favorite to be State champs this year if CAK, FRA, Notre Dame competed with teams they should compete with, i.e. Baylor, GPS, BGA, BA, St. Agnes etc.

:thumb: I'm pretty sure that the teams you mentioned already play some of the stronger Div. II teams...by choice. Playing better competetion is what helps them become the teams they are and gets them to State. It ain't no picnic but it's worth it. If Sweetwater is good enough, they will get their chance as well. Sounds like you're going somewhere else with your comment... please don't. It gets old.

  8. no i wasnt giving Fairview 0 credit i was just saying that this FRA girls soccer team has one back to back state championships and has agood chance for a threepeat. Fairview is one of the last rural teams still in, they've had a great year, but dca vs fra wasnt even close. this team is just on a whole different level than the rest of the a/aa middle tn teams.

I am an FRA supporter as well, but on any given day...as the saying goes. The FRA girls don't overlook any team and know that every team they play wants it just as bad. That is why they as well as Coach gives respect to each team they play on and off the field. And that is where it will be decided tonight, not on Coacht. Since FRA has not played Fairview, and Fairview has been playing well, I wouldn't count them out. I'm sure both teams will give it their best effort. The weather could also make it difficult for either team to look good tonight!

  9. so many people pass through here reading this, but yet noone gives fairview credit for even making it to the region final game, with a big win in fairview, playing DCA in pk's thats pretty impressive for a team that usually people overlook, bc its from a small town, i think we should give some credit to fairview, and it should turn out to be a really good game, possibly may even turn out to a upset in fairview's favor, good luck lady jackets, and to FRA. they play at fairview @ 6pm

I'm not sure that lack of comments equals lack of respect. Fairview should be proud of their record this season and especially of the impressive upsets in the last few games. Small town also does not equal lack of talent, smart teams know this. This team has achieved much this season and should certainly be proud. Fairview will be respected and not overlooked by FRA, I assure you. Either way both teams have earned their place in the Sectionals on Saturday, good luck to both. :thumb:

  10. Don't know about CAK...have not seen tehm. I was going off Eurosport regarding the records....the schedule there shows under .500.....I've seen Bearden and Notre Dame (they look pretty good). I would be interested to see how CAK would match up there. As far a Futbalfan's comments...I think we'll just have to wait and see!!??

Flash, you know who I love...you should also know what I REALLY think. No offense intended, I was only kidding with all the serious "who can take who" discussion.:D

  11. Point taken. There is a lot of soccer between now and the end of the season, but the point remains that this should be a very good game. Notre Dame has a very strong schedule, playing teams like Centennial, ECS, Father Ryan, Ravenwood, CCS, Baylor, GPS, and Ooltewah.

FRA's schedule includes some of the same -- GPS, Baylor, BA, BGA, Centennial, JPII.

I expect both teams will be a lot better some November.

I agree, regardless of the outcome of this game, it will be a great game for both teams. I suspect as you do that these teams will get stronger as the season progresses.

  12. No disrespect intended, but if you believe that this will predict anything, go talk to CCS about games played earlier in the seasons of the last few years. I am not only referring to FRA, but to any team and their potential basted on their early season performance. Most teams have "issues" to work out early on. Again, no disrespect to CCS. Just using that as an example.

  13. This is true and has been a "sore spot" with FRA playing CCS on their home field over the last few years. Frustrating as it was, our team was even more determined not to "let" the home team make it an advantage. Our girl's knew what they had to do BECAUSE of home field advantage. Although it did not change the outcome, I really never understood why CCS didn't have to play their games at GPS to make it at least a little more "fair". If GPS advances in the future, they should not be allowed to play their games on their home field as well. Anyway, I'm glad the state tournament will remain in Chatt town. It has been a blast the last three years and the hotel, restaurant personnel have been GREAT!!!. Traffic is never a problem. I can't say the same about Hendersonville or especially Murfreesboro. I am referring specifically about traffic in the " boro". They have decent fields but you may never get there. B)

  14. FRA is/was recruited by parents affiliated with the Harpeth Futbol Club. They're

strong enough now that they are attracting players from other clubs........plus

they have a very good coach.

:thumb: Just is not so. A move from private to private isn't that unusual. Little or no interest in soccer at certain schools certainly can contribute to a decision to move if the CHILD seeks a different situation as well as academics. Props to schools that decided to improve their programs after the fact. Changing schools is incredibly difficult. Hard on the parents and very hard on the child when they are leaving close friends. HFC parents had little to do with individual family decisions in seeking the best situation for their daughters regardless of the reasons. This is an old subject.

  15. All Mid-state is about 50% on target.

Totally agree hardball03 :) I know one incredible forward/midfielder, several midfielders and an unbelieveably talented defender ( :thumb: Flash), that should have been on 1st or 2nd team or at least been recognized somewhere from A/AA. A name on a list, or not, shouldn't define any player, that is done on the field. MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL!!!

  16. WOW! Thanks a lot for those kind words. Yeah, I think that an ACL tear seems to be one of the most common injuries in soccer players these days.

No surprise here. We may compete on the field but no one on our side would want anyone on any side hurt, regardless. Afterall, it is just a game. Best of luck with your team for next year. I'm sure you'll be ready for us, as usual. Again, best of luck to your Ms. Waters!

  17. I go to CCS. The senior, Emily Waters, did tear her ACL and is going to be having surgery sometime soon.

So sorry to hear that. :thumb: No one really saw what happened, at least no obvious foul or anything but she was on the ground after the play ended. We hoped it wasn't an ACL. We have a player that did the same thing a little over a year ago. She just turned funny with the ball and that was it. Our player was almost as good as new in a year. I'm sure this young lady will be too. We certainly wish her the best with surgery and a speedy recovery.
