  1. Because JCM does not have the funding to be able to afford the cost to play in the oman. It is pretty expensive to open that place up. It's been a couple of years since I have heard the numbers, but I can remember always asking coach Starks while i was in hs why they did not play there, and that is what he told me.

  2. JCM beat Liberty tonight in double overtime 62-64. JCM had the lead for most of the game, but could not put it away until the second OT. JCM missed a pair of free throws late and Liberty rebounded and made a three in transition to make the score 63-62 JCM with 10 seconds left. JCM hit the latter of two free throws, then stole the inbounds pss to secure the win. Big win for this program.

Notable stars for this game. Liberty's Kendall Anthony. Kid is a star.

JCM Kaneal Windom. Stole inbounds pass and hit late free throws

JCM Jarston Clark- Best dunker in the state. Hands down

  3. I think one thing that needs to happen at JCM is that the whole team has got to play together, two guys can not do it all. One question we had was why doesn't #27 run the ball? Did he run the ball more before he got hurt? As I said on another thread, I was unimpressed by the way JCM entered the stadium and warmed up. There seemed to be little purpose to the warm-ups beside intimidation of the other team. They did not come to take care of business. I also stand by what I said earlier on the same thread about NS being skilled, determined, and disciplined, while JCM relies on the raw talent that apparently still has to be developed. Of course I do not know anything about how JCM practices, but NS's O line dominated and our D line was impressive. I believe we were in better condition - we are being able to beat teams in the 4th quarter and that says a lot about Coach Massey - he believes in conditioning.

I fear YANKER that you have opened up a can of worms here and that this might turn into coach bashing. Everyone needs to represent with class.

Good luck to JCM...hopefully we can both make the playoffs.

It is a tradition for JCM to do that. They do this before every game and most practices. The purpose is strictly to get themselves pumped up. This really does help from having a bad practice. But anyways. #27 Tavis Hogsett had never ran the ball. Well he ran the ball one time when he was a sophmore, and he played fullback fulltime. He fumbled. JCM did not use a fullback at all last year, and we had better people to run the ball last year. However the guy who should be running the ball more is #5 Gavin Hardin. He is faster and more athletic than Hogsett.

  4. TradeB JCM hs faced Madison before. TH\hey played him when Madison was a sophmore. and if i recall he was not too much of a factor. But trust me, they know how elusive he is. I say JCM by atleast two scores.

P.S. Madison doesnt have anywhere near the talent at Munford as he did at Melrose.

  5. Please do not help these people out my "Juiceful" friend. They are eliminating themselves from contention. While the YANKER agrees with you, we don't want them to ever gain too much from our intelligence. The YANKER will see you at the ROCK Friday night!!!!!!!

Sorry o great teacher. A great lesson from this I hve learned. But unfortunately you will not see me at the ROCK this weekend for two reasons.

1.The game is being played at South Side because of the African Street Festival.

2.I am not living in Jackson. I enrolled in UTK and am now a freshman. Although there is not much that I would not do to get the chance to play Brighton again. I still have a bitter taste left in my mouth from that game. IT is not really a grudge that i hold on Brighton though. IT is more so against the officials of that game. More so the really fat one that stood behin the line backers also the really old head official.

  6. J. Parrott does a much better job of covering all the teams than Pepps did. I saw Parrott more times at the JCM practice feild lst year than i saw Peppas in my first three years of football. Parrott is alot more freindly too. The first time i talked to him at the begining of last years season we talked for a good 25 minutes. Plus he interveiwed me like four times after gams and even had an article about me in a way. Well the article was mostly about the fact that Rothrock stadium needed to be renivated. But he and the rest of the Jackson Sun staff do a good job for the most part.

P.S. JP please keep good articles about JCM comming. It is one of my few sources now that I am in school up here in Knoxville.

  7. First off, congratulations to Dickson Co. on a great victory tonight and to our Henry Co. Patriots for a great effort in the second half comeback. With that said...I have some questions about the HC squad after the first two games:

#1 - What good does it do to run a no huddle offense if we have to burn timeouts to prevent delay of game penalties? I have yet to see what advantage this is giving us on the field and seems to only cause additional confusion.

#2 - Please explain to the coaching staff that timeouts do not carry over to the next game. We got the ball back tonight after a great defensive series, with over a minute to go, worked the ball down inside the Dickson Co. 50 yard line right at a minute to go, WITH 3 TIMEOUTS! What do we do...we run another 20 seconds off of the clock (again, with 3 timeouts, under a minute to go), rushing through the confusion of getting the play call from the sideline and resulting in a game ending interception. Why not burn a TO to settle down, call a couple of plays and be ready at the line with a chance to win the ball game????

#3 - We have one of the most athletic players in the state, yet we want to run the shotgun and then have him run the ball between the guards 60% of the time???

Tonight's loss might not have been a win either way, but we had momentum and didn't take advantage of the opportunities we had before us. I hope the kids on the team keep their heads up, 2 losses to 2 exceptional ball teams early in the season. On the bright side, we head into Region play next week after playing probably two of the best teams we will face until the play-offs. But, and I know it is early, BUT, shouldn't we be figuring out a way to take advantage of the talent we have (and timeouts) to put our kids in the best position to win? By that, altering the gameplan a little througout the game and making some adjustments before being down by 2 TDs.

Again, great effort by players from each squad, Dickson might even have more speed than Ridgeway did last week, and should have a very good season. As for the Patriots, we are a lot better than I record reflects and hope for a great showing in the Region.

Well las year JCM ran the same type of offense. We both had very similar quarterbacks. Borner took the majority of his carries straight up the gut and ran for over 1300 yards as well as passed for almost 1200.

  8. It is amazing the difference of one week, just read an article in the Jackson Sun that seemed to blame injuries for the loss to Melrose. Did the coaching change that much between our game and the Melrose game. I mean to hear you tell it, injuries are due to poor coaching. Ha Ha Ha Ha,

Say what you will about last season but JCM had the same seat as us when it came to watching the title game. Go ahead a pat yourself on the back for the beating that you took from Melrose on your home field. We will continue to be disgusted with the fact that we lost a game at Melrose in a tight ball game. I take no pleasure in any loss, I commend our team on the physical effort of that battle,

With a few less mental mistakes, it is a game that could have gone either way, but to lay down and quit and get pummeled in the last game of the season in the 3rd round of the playoffs, wow, how can a team not be motivated by that situation.

Our team was very upset with their loss to Melrose and would never accept losing

by saying atleast we were region champs. It is a great accomplishment and we will enjoy taking that title this year but we will not go out by quitting on the field of battle. I would take our players over the ones from that quitting team last year any time especially if I were going to war.

You know not everyone for JCM quit playing that game. There were alot of seniors that played their hearts out that game playing with numerous injuries. The only players that gave up were the players that were comming back to play this year because they knew they had another year to come back and go for it again. but i can promise you that the seniors didnt quit. and the majority of the seniors just happened to play offense. and we just couldnt move the ball on those guys. we couldnt help that all the underclassmen played defense and gave up. that was the only reason melrose scored as many points as they did. I can only hope that those players have grown up this year and wont be quit.

  9. Gavin did play linebacker last year. He plays the rover linebacker which in JCM's defense plays up on the line. There were several times last year tho when JCM played in its 4-4 defense where he would be playing the linebacker position from depth. This guy has unbelievable potential. I can not wait to see him line up behind Tavis Hogsett and watch JCM run the I formation.
