  1. Wow, I played for Coach Mathis at THS and played while each of the umpires you mentioned were in district 8. Thus, someone else would have to witness the hole in one for me to believe it! That must have been some foursome and congrats to Coach Mathis. Go Cats!

  2. Sly, I don't think Tullahoma will be too great or too bad this year. Somewhere between 2nd and 4th in the region. However, I don't think there is too much concern about the mighty Red Raiders just yet.

  3. They need to prove that they can show up and win games when the lights are on instead of bragging about winning scrimmages. How many games has Coffee County won in the past 3 seasons combined??? I think the answer is 3 but not sure.

  4. I just looked at Tullahoma's schedule for this fall and they have only 3 home games...What's the deal with playing 3 at home and 7 on the road this year? Thats gonna make it really tough to get home field for the play-offs. Also, how strong will they be this year? I know Hillsboro has been loaded lately...do the Wildcats have a shot at being #2 in the region? As a former THS athlete I know they always have a shot with Olive on the sidelines and the support they get from the community.

  5. I found them:

District 8-AAA 2003 Baseball Standings Conference Overall

    TEAM W L PCT W L

    Coffee Co. 9 3 .727 20 8

    Tullahoma 7 4 .555 18 12

    Shelbyville 7 4 .667 10 16

    Lawrence Co. 5 6 .555 13 10

    Franklin Co. 4 7 .400 24 12

    Columbia 5 6 .375 11 16

    Lincoln Co. 2 9 .125 12 13

  6. Last team from Memphis to win AAA state championship: Melrose, 1985. Since '85 Jackson Central-Merry in 1996 is the only West TN team to be crowned #1 in AAA. I'm sure those Shelby County rival games are fun to watch, but those teams can't compete with teams from other parts of the state on a consistent basis.

  7. 1. Shelbyville (13-1) won 11 straight/Deep South Classic

    2. Oak Ridge (13-1) very good team, maybe the best

    3. Sevier Co. (10-2) can beat anybody

    4. Lawrence Co. (11-4) tough schedule, played well in ATL

    5. Farragut (10-4) will be tough at tournament time

    6. Cookeville (9-4) losses to very good teams

    7. Greenville (11-1) schedule strength???

    8. Beech (13-1) refer to #7

    9. Riverdale (12-3) hot start,may only be #4 in region 4AAA

    10. Houston (12-1) would they be 12-1 in middle or east TN?
