  1. Great job Coach Q! I am happy to see him get Marshall to the finals. Hopefully this will get people to recognize that he is a great young coach. I'm glad that the region is at Montgomery Central so I may get to see Marshall and the kid from Giles play.
  2. Way to go Marshall County! I am happy to see Coach Q get his team to the District Finals. He is a great guy and I know it has been a difficult job the last two years. I played with him at the Austin Peay and I knew he would be a good coach. I know he hasn't had the best talent in the world, but I'm sure he played a part in getting his guys to the finals. Good luck against Giles Co. - I know they are going to need it!
  3. District 10-AAA Girls Team MVP -- Elizabeth Wolfe, Dickson County April Thomas, Northeast Kayla Milby, Dickson County Beth Elliot, Henry County Danielle Galbreath, Rossview Keisha Brown, Clarksville Gerroddicka Harris, Kenwood Keisha Nicholson, Northeast Dawn Evans, Northeast Tabrika Pollard, Dickson County Andrea Evevoldsen, Dickson County Lindsie Leis, Northwest Coach of the Year: Eve Hamilton, Dickson County District 10-AAA Boys Team MVP -- Quinn Bradley, Clarksville Drake Reed, Northeast Kevin Townley, Northwest Corey Pfleiger, Dickson County Antwon Harris, Kenwood Zech Teague, Henry County James Bolden, Rossview DeVon Bracey, Clarksville Will Newell, Northwest Graylin Tuck, Northeast Phillip Little, Clarksville Anthony Rogers, Northeast Coach of the Year: Al Cooper, Northeast
  4. Kenwood, Northwest survive first round By JAMES D. HORNE The Leaf-Chronicle -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PARIS -- Kenwood didn't have the best of luck with Dickson County this season, as the Patriots swept the season series. But oh how things changed in the first round of the 10-AAA Tournament at Henry County High Tuesday night. "Yeah, they swept us during the season, but I've heard it's hard to beat a good team three times in a row," said Kenwood's Antwon Harris of his Knights' 54-44 win over Dickson County. "We're going out with the mentality that we had nothing to lose. We did get down a little, but we showed confidence and heart." And thanks to two plays from senior Jerry Howell, the fifth-seeded Knights' (10-18, 4-8) heart will keep beating for one more tournament game. Howell's first contribution came on a 3-pointer with 3:07 left, pushing Kenwood out to a 43-39 lead. "I just tried to let the game come to me," said Howell, who scored eight points. "I've been struggling with my jump shot, and coach has been telling me to keep shooting and it would fall. I was open and I just made the play." Fourth-seeded Dickson County (13-15, 5-7) was able to whittle the Knights' lead down to 47-44 on Bryan Cole's bucket with 54 seconds to go. But Howell came right back and put the dagger in Dickson County's heart with his driving, hard-nosed layup, giving Kenwood a 49-44 edge with 48 seconds remaining. Freeman Pickney (10 points) hit three-of-four free throws and Harris' (19 points) dunk provided the final points. "Sometimes it works to your advantage when you're beaten twice by someone," Kenwood coach Brad Fraser said. "When you beat somebody, you don't make any adjustments. When you're beaten by someone, you make adjustments. This time it worked in our favor." Northwest 59, Henry County 46 Forgive Northwest if it held a little slice of contempt for Henry County during the 10-AAA Tournament Tuesday night. It was Henry County that started the Vikings (16-11, 5-4) on their two-game losing streak, which cost Northwest the 10-AAA championship and slipped the Vikings to the third seed. But redemption came in the form of a Viking 59-46 win. Northwest moves on to play Northeast Thursday at 8:30 p.m. "We haven't won down here in five games," Northwest senior guard Kevin Townley said. "Every time we come down here we lose. Plus, they beat us in the regular season. We had to step it up to show they weren't better than us. We decided to put it on them." And Northwest did just that by exploding out of the gates of the third quarter with a 17-4 run sixth-seeded Henry County (5-22, 4-8) would never recover from, courtesy of a four-point play from Townley (16 points) with 3:16 left. Much of the ground work came from senior Darnell Hendrickson, who scored seven of the run's 17 points, including a trey and an emphatic dunk. Hendrickson worked hard all game long and led all scorers with 22 points.
  5. It was good to see all of the Clarksville schools advance last night (Kenwood, Ne, NW). I don't think that was happened in a long time. Kenwood surprised me but with Harris inside... anythings possible. It's just too bad the tourny is in Henry Co., the crowds for the remaining games would have been big in Clarksville.
  6. #6 Clarksville girls got the big upset last night over #3 Rossview 49-28. Dickson Co. and Henry Co. girls also advanced. I would think that the boys games should go as planned tonight with Northeast beating Rossview for the 3rd time this year, Dickson Co. beating Kenwood for the 3rd time, and Northwest beating Henry County on their home floor. But Northwest has been known for going home early (loss to Dickson last year which put them out in the 1st round) and they lost at Henry last week. We'll see!
  7. #1 Seed - Clarksville 9-3 #2 Seed - Northeast 9-3 #3 Seed - Northwest 8-4 #4 Seed - Dickson Co. 5-7 #5 Seed - Kenwood 4-8 #6 Seed - Henry Co. 4-8 #7 Seed - Rossview 3-9 Tuesday @ Henry County (1) Clarksville - bye (2)Northeast vs. (7)Rossview (3)Northwest vs. (6)Henry Co. (4)Dickson Co. vs. (5)Kenwood Thursday @ Henry County (1)Clarksville vs. (4)Dickson Co - (5)Kenwood winner (2)Northeast - (7)Rossview winner vs. (3)Northwest - (6)Henry Co. winner Friday @ Henry County Consolation/Championship Games
  8. I see that Northeast won tonight 69-65 over Northwest. Clarksville beat Rossview 58-41 tonight. NE and Clarksville are the co-champs of District-10AAA. Clarksville is #1 seed Northeast #2 Northwest #3 for the district tourny next week at Henry County.
  9. I will pick NE on their home floor, but I assume it will come down to the wire. NW could very easily win this one too. Clarksville should also win at home. MVP - Reed ... if NE wins Townley ... if NW wins Bradley or Bracey may also be considered if they win tonight, but I think its either Reed or Townley
  10. Whitaker is not with the team! He was supposed to play JV the rest of the year but they found out he didn't have his physical. And he has never went to get one. That is his own problem. He didn't come to school exam week so he wasn't eligible until about 3 weeks after report cards came out. HE DID NOT PLAY AGAINST Dickson County. I don't know who told you that one. Last year he missed the district championship game because he forgot to bring his jersey. So he ran the video camera ... maybe he will be doing the same this year. Good player ... just has to get his stuff straight.
  11. He forgot to go to summer school so he couldn't play 1st semester. Now he's eligible... but he forgot to get his physical. Maybe next year.
  12. I heard that Kevin Townley was in foul trouble the whole game and didn't play half the time. They also got a technical and intentional foul in the 4th quarter. They still will finish as the #1 seed if they can win at Northeast on Friday. If not, they may be playing Henry Co. again in the 1st round ... and all the games are at Henry Co. this year.
  13. Clarksville came from behind to beat Dickson Co. at home tonight. CHS trailed the entire game and somehow came up with the victory. Phillip Little drove to the middle and banked in the game winning shot in at the buzzer. Clarksville's bench got them back in the game and the end of the 3rd and beginning of the 4th quarter. Eric Collins, who hasn't scored all year, hit two 3's during that stretch and finished with 10 points. Corey Pleigler was held scoreless in the 1st half but the other 2 guards hit about five 3's before the half to give them a big lead.
  14. Can Northwest win at Henry Co. and at Northeast this week to take the District Championship? If they lose on Friday ... looks like CHS would get the tiebreaker for the #1 seed if they win out.
  15. Clarksville beat Kenwood 61 -41 tonight on Senior Night at Kenwood. Quinn Bradley scored 18 in the first half to give Clarksville a 36-18 lead at the break. Bradley finished with 24 and Devon Bracey added 14. Any info on the Rossview - Northwest or Henry Co. - Northeast games?
  16. He still plays as much, his shots just haven't been falling. He was big for CHS during the Beech Tournament (He was the only player from CHS on the All-Tournament team) and their stretch when they were playing well in the district. Since then, he just isn't making shots like he was. He still gets good minutes, but obviously he will play longer when he gets his shooting touch back.
  17. Henry Co. plays at Northeast and Rossview plays at Northwest tonight. Northeast should have an easy win at home after the big win last night at Dickson Co. Northwest should win at home but Rossview is capable of pulling off an upset.
  18. Big game for Clarksville. They must keep Harris under control. They only have 2 games left after tonight and they are both at home. Dickson Co. and Rossview next week. Clarksville needs to win out and hope for a Northwest loss. If Northeast could beat Northwest at home next Friday - it would create a 3 way tie for the championship if the top 3 (NE, NW, CHS) win the rest of their games.
  19. The David Lipscomb guy is terrible - no class at all. Needs to shut his mouth.
  20. Northwest beat Dickson. New Standings - 1. Northwest 7-2 2. Clarksville 6-3 3. Clarksville-Northeast 5-3 4. Dickson Co. 4-5 5. Kenwood 4-6 6. Rossview 3-6 7. Henry Co. 3-7

  22. I heard Jeff Wright is an assistant at Greenbrier. Did he get in some type of trouble lately ... like get suspended or something?
  23. The Northwest and Northeast game on Feb. 20 should determine who will be the district champions. Clarksville is the only other team who has a real shot at the title, if either of those teams lose any other games. NE has key games at Dickson and Rossview. NW has key games at Kenwood & Henry Co, and home against Dickson & Rossview. Northwest may have lost a couple of guys last night 2/5/04 against Montgomery Central ... *Quinton Partee may have blown his knee out, while scrambling for a loose ball. He went to the hospital after the game. Kevin Townley hurt his cheekbone going for a layup in the fourth. He finished the game, but has swelling in his face. "Right now we're just hoping for the best, hoping they're not hurt seriously," Northwest coach Willard Ross said. "If any one of them is out for any length of time, it's going to be devastating for the team." * from the Leaf Chronicle
  24. Here are the standings and remaining games. 1. Northwest 5-2 L - CHS, DC 1. Northeast 5-2 L - NW, CHS 3. Clarksville 5-3 L - NE, NW, RV 4. Dickson Co. 4-4 L - CHS, NE, 2 HC 5. 25. Gallatin Boys beat Clarksville 61-59 tonight in Region 5-AAA at Hendersonville. The Gallatin girls also beat Northwest today. Gallatin's teams were both #4 seeds and knocked off District 10-AAA #1 teams.
