  1. I personally think that opening ceremonies if needed should happen for each sport at their main venue, not try to have all schools all at once. That way a school that had only one or two track athletes would feel like it meant more with just track teams.

I pressed the ticket personnel at Autozone about using a punch on the 7 session pass to enter the opening ceremonies. The person in the booth said that opening ceremonies was not a TSSAA event so we had to pay $5.00. Why did the ticket for opening ceremonies have TSSAA printed at the top ? Curious ????

It seems strange that TSSAA mandates a parking fee this year and did not the past three years in Chattanooga.

  2. From Father Ryan, Amanda Derrick & Diane Shelton, Amber Hiltz MVP

From Harpeth Hall, Sara Rodriguez & Torri Tucker

From Brentwood Academy, Leigh Little, Jessica Hesson & not sure the third one.

From BGA, Abbey Kuchen & one other

Sorry but I can't remember the others.

  3. Ken Hawk - If you take I-240 off I-40 and stay on I-240 til you hit I-55 south, Southaven is the first Mississippi exit, then go east about 1 mile or less, turn right to Greenbrook Fields.

  4. I talked at length with a coach from St Benedict which is near Germantown. He says both his daughters played their fall & summer ball at the complex slated for our state tournament in Southaven MS. He says the complex is good but not as fan friendly as the Warner Park complex in Chatt. and none of their fields would measure up to Frost Stadium, obviously.

My understanding from our coach is that TSSAA granted Memphis a one year contract for Spring Fling.

  5. My daughter is a senior @ Father Ryan, will play her last home game next Tuesday. I just wanted to tell you get well soon, it was great watching you pitch against us last year ! I think your team will rally & win state. Tell Callie B hi from Amber Hiltz.

  6. The Girls of Spring

A little girl comes to her dad

She says come play with me

The dad just smiles and says

    What game will it be.

The young one tells her dad

    I like that softball game

The dad says OK and then

    The teaching game begins.

    Throw, catch, hit and run

    They spend the sunny days

Then the young girl says to dad

I think I can play this game.

Find a team with some friends

A coach who likes to teach

    Taking her a little further

    Than her dad could reach.

Dad says O K I will trust you to that coach

For he seems a lot like you

He loves to throw, catch, hit and run

He loves to play like you.

Along the way something goes astray

Let˜s not dwell on this too long

Just remember back to when it was fun

    And you won˜t go wrong.

Do not play just for dad, mom or coach

    Play because it˜s fun

If you keep this thought in mind

    Then you˜ve already won !

Posting this for my daughter playing her last home game for Father Ryan High School. Go RIO !

  7. I think all this team and player bashing has gone too far ! If we can't say something positive or helpful, please stay off this board ! I love this game and watching all the players over the years has given me lots of memories. Let's all stay objective instead of turning our personal opinions into FACT ! These players & coaches work hard to achieve their goals. Let's not tarnish that hard work by slinging "e insults" all over the internet. I will applaud the 4 state winners left standing in Southaven no matter who wins.

  8. Ryan's defense played pretty well, Katherine Harrison had a good day too! Big difference is Ryan's bats woke up in the 6th inning. BA played really well defensively, just couldn't get runners in when they got on base. Good luck to the Irish this weekend in the Louisville KY all catholic schools tournament, going for a 3-peat !

  9. I am not sure but Father Ryan and Brentwood Academy have a similar situation in that their first game was also a tie. In the past when Ryan & BA split their regular season matchups, there was a coin toss to decide the seeding.

  10. I think any team sport starts with good defense. Defense in softball can save runs. So I guess I am saying to that good pitching is a little more important. However, you can't win if you don't score. A stat that means a little more that batting avg may be on base percentage. I've seen so many games decided by one run that it wouldn't really matter to me if a girl reaches by a hit, walk, fielders choice, error, et.
