  1. How can Farragut play over 40 games and stay under the TSSAA limit for regular season games. I realize they add more after the schedule report is turned in to the TSSAA, but , if reported to TSSAA that they play more games than is allowed they may receive a penalty. I may be off base, but I think 28 dates is the rule with the tourneys counting as 3 dates. How did they get in over 40 games with all the rain, ice, etc? No wonder they are tournament ready.

  2. I heard a lot of positive comments about this year's tournament at Clarkrange. close parking, good food and cold drinks at the concession stand, clean bathrooms, and the field looked really nice. The new backstop is a nice addition and the outfield wall sets it apart from any field around the area. former players from around the area were commenting on the field and could not believe the transformation that has taken place. 8 to 10 years ago, C.R had an outhouse for bathrooms. Even though they got put out earlier than they had hoped for, basketball is no longer the only sport that matters. The tee ballers and little leagers can now look forward to being a " Baseball Buffalo" someday.

  3. It has changed. The the team that wins the regular season championhip gets to host the district tournament now. Clarkrange has hosted the past two seasons because they won the regular season title. The reason the final game was moved tonight was because since Clarkrang got put out, there was no use of Clay County and Jackson County making the long drive when they are only 20 minutes minutes apart. The reason Clay is not hosting tonight , is because Coach Nelson feels his team plays better on the road and Jackson County's field is in better playing shape. He has all of his top pithers rested and ready, and he feels they can win tonight even if the game was played in a cow pasture. Both, Clay County and Jackson County's coaches do a great job with their kids. All 3 coaches (C.R,J.C.,& C.C) agreed to move the game to either Jackson or Clay Co. Tonight's Championship starts at 6:00 at Jackson County and should be a great game. Clay County has the better pitching and J.C. hits the ball better. Good pithing usually stops good hitting so I am picking Clay Co. in a close one 7 to 5. Good luck to both teams.

  4. I also heard the Red Boiling Springs was moving back to District 7A. This would be agood move for all involved. Seems like they were in that district for years. Swanson 71; Did you use to play a lot of softball ? I think I know you.

  5. Does anyone know if Pickett County found a coach? Clarkrange could really be good. The have pitching and experience. I look for Jackson County to be good also. Who did they lose? It is about time for Monterey to make a comeback also. Should be a fun year and some good battles in 7A !

  6. Clarkrange got smacked by a goodpasture team that is very talented, well coached, and very confident. As for Clarkrange, Not a bad year. 23 wins! Go Jackson County! Give them all you got.

  7. The district 7A tournament will be held at Clarkrange High School. Monterey beat Clay County tonight 3-1 in a play in game at Clay County. #2 seed Jackson County plays #3 Pickett County Monday at 5:OO, #1 seed Clarkrange plays Monterey at 7:OO. The losers play Tue at five and the winners play at 7:00 on Tuesday . The tournament is set up just like the 8A tournament. This could be a very exciting tournament. Clarkrange will be led by the district MVP: Riley Norris : A sophomore catcher and Knuckleball pitcher. He is the best left handed catcher I have ever seen play the game.

  8. Swanson71 ; Come watch Clarkrang tonight at 6:00 at R.B.S. Clarkrange has a big Friday tomorrow : 2:00 Pickett County 4:00 - Pickett County 6:00 - Scott County. Big Friday and its not even basketball season!

  9. I saw Clarkrange play Monterey last night. They looked really solid. Webb threw a big Freshman. He looked to be about 6'4 and threw hard. The field was the best I've seen in a couple years. They said that clarkrange was starting 4 or 5 Freshman and 3 sophomores. Only 1 senior on the team and he is only a courtesy runner. Look for that program to make some noise the next 3 years. Also they have a really good catcher . He is left handed and can really catch. He can also hit. He is not shabby on the hill. He is 3-0 and throws a knuckleball 80 percent. A really good looking team.

  10. Clarkrange played well against Monterey last night. Monterey is getting better. Would someone please add Thursday's Clay Co. score. Clarkrane 11 Clay 7. Clarkrane is at 3-2 in the district and 7-3 overall. They play nearly every day in April with 2 tourneys. One at Clarkrange and one at Knox West. They could really be a strong team by Tournament time. They really looked sharp last night . I counted only 2 errors and had 11 hits. Big game tonight when Monterey come to the Range again for round 2 . Get out the BROOMS!

  11. Clarkrange beat Jackson County 4-2 on Friday at Clarkrange. riley norris a sophomore lefty went the distance fof the Buffaloes. He is now 2-0, and the Buffaloes are 5-2. Would somebody please post the score?

  12. Clarkrange looked like a different team tonight than they did against Hogeye on Thursday. This one counted. The Buffaloes won an exciting J.V. game 4-3 Webb threw 5 different pitchers. They all threw well. Clarkrange came out in the varsity game really fired up. The place was packed. I had to park at the gym because the parking lot was full. I'd bet they had over 500 fans at the game. York brought a big crowd. They left unhappy though. York scored 1 in the 1st, clarkrange 3. Clarkrange blew it open in the 2nd wieh 10 runs. they hit 4 or 5 line drives in a row, laid down a couple of bunts and even stole home to shock the dragons. The final was 14 to 7. CHS only made 2 errors and looked sharp on defense. I believe they are for real. We will see. 3 more games this week and Jackson county next Monday and tuesday. The excitement at the park was amazing. A huge crowd and a huge win! Tomorrow CHS host Coalfield at 5 and YAI host Oneida at 5, Good luck to both.

  13. Have any of you seen Clarkrange's baseball field. It has been completely overhauled. I am amazed. They have it looking like an old time minor league park. A 16 foot high blue wall in the outfield, a new scoreboard in left center that sits behind the new wall, new double warm up mounds and bullpens on both sides, new fencing with yellow cap down the sides, and the infield and outfield looks awesome. I think it's the niceat field I have seen in years. The change is really dramatic. The day I stopped by, the boys were practicing. They (the team) looked even better than the field. If they work every day like the way they did that day then we may have a new champion in district 7A. Less than a week until "IT'S BASEBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE' !

  14. Do not forget Monterey. They are the favorites until somebody beats them. Even without a field, They are well coached and year end year out they have the most talent.

  15. I have an idea. Hire those Refs each week that called the Westmoreland and Meigs game back in 1995. It would be hard for Meigs to lose with those Refs.

I remember that night well. It was a great game. Clint Brown and that BIG tackle were tough. It was not the Refs that won that game; It was A team effort from Meigs aided by a big time catch and run by Brian Peck. Westmoreland fans messed up by calling Tyrone names during pre-game. Tyrone ran extra hard that night and absolutely lit Mr. Brown up more than once. It was not a fluke or the refs. We put up 62 points the next week at Alcoa. How many teams have EVER done that!
  16. I watched them practice at the park on the new outdoor facility. There were no coaches present. The girls were doing it on their own. They work hard to get better. Many teams only practice when the coach makes them. These girls are at the park shooting or playing pick up games against boys nearly every afternoon. While most kids are out running the roads or laying on the couch; these young ladies are playing basketball. May be the reason they have an edge. I was impressed. Just yesterday I watched 8 of the girls beat up on a group of boys in a very competitive pick up game at the park. No coaches were present. When did playing at the park or in the yard become a violation? They really look good . The 3 big girls inside will be the best 3 "bigs" in the upper cumberland. You can take that to the bank!

  17. Clarkrange will be loaded. The guard from Sone Memorial can shoot the three and handle the ball. The 2 freshmen from York look really good; esp. Meadows. She will be a force inside. They will have size, quickness, and will be 10 deep. Look out! I watched them practice. 38-0. NUMBER 9
