1. For lack of anything else to do let think this out.......

In Distric 1 who is going to knock Unicoi or Elizabethton out of the 1 2??? I havent seen anyone in dristic that could do it so far. Distric 2 is a 3 horse race so far between Grainger, Pigeon Forge & Union County but neither of them have what it takes to upset either of the Distric 1 teams as of now.

Distric 3 is a runaway like always with Gibbs holding down the #1 spot & Carter, Fulton & Alcoa fighiing for #2. Distric 4 has Stone Memorial & Loudon leading the way but I dont think they can hang with Gibbs.

So.... It more than likely will be Unicoi & Elizabethton v/s Gibbs & Stone or Loudon fighting for the 2 spots in the Buro. As long as Unicoi & Gibbs hold up there end and nothing crazy happens, I see both tese teams making the trip back to the Buro again in 09.

I think a more interesting question would be do either of them have what it takes to equal or better there 08 run threw the Buro? /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

How is Stone leading the way in their district when Kingston has already beat them and is undefeated in the district

  2. Hey 5193, you better get your facts straight before you blast off. Kingston played Ooltewah twice in the 90"s. Kingston won the first year and got beat the second in a high scoring game. Ask your buddy coach King and he will verify it for you. I can tell you just about anything involving Kingston football from the 70's to present. What I stated was simply my opinion. I guarantee you though that there are much much more people that agree with me on it too. Good luck to Kingston this season......but the results will still be the same.

Hey Ram Fan you know so much about Kingston Football who was the Starting QB on the 1981 state runner up team

  3. i b telling u all dem devils r 4real. we beat montray now we get 2 beat up on queenston. they cant stop dmitrique or cj. we gonna run past queenston in htown thursday nite. dem devils will roll 28-7. we ready. we ready. we ready.

Come on now let's get real Harriman gonna beat kingston, if you are a player it probably hasn't happened in your life time. Kingston's defense is a little bit better than Monterey's, dline and linebackers are pretty good this year for Kingston not to mention Sams and Roberts running the ball behind a pretty good oline.

  4. Agreed.

Softball is the sport that most parents and girls want to play now. It allows slow, unathletic kids a chance to play and doesn't require a great deal of skill(pitchers excluded).

I agree with this statement. I'm gonna say this and be done with it, most of the people that are

writing on this board are parents or aunts or uncles or grandparents, I read about kids not having good attitudes and how they can play and how

the best shooter is on the bench: gimme a break, the fact is not one of these girls could have played on a Kingston team 18,20 , or 30 years ago, should their record be better;yes do they have a little talent; yes, should the coach have more discipline:yes. The post players are decent but it ain't like they can play on the next level, speaking of attitudes the guard and the post have the worst ones on the team. Most of these girls are to worried about their make-up before the game instead of getting focused. These kids attitudes didn't start with basketball it started at home from parents, the parents of these players act worse than the kids, yelling at officials when calls don't go your way: bad mouthing coaches and other players b/c your kid ain't playing or is not as good as you think they are. Go drink you a glass of reality. IF YOU PARENTS OR WHOEVER THINK YOU CAN DO BETTER THEN GO GET A TEACHING CERTIFICATE AND START COACHING. I just love all this expert advice from these basketball gurus.

  5. Hmm, interesting conversation. Are you one of the Kingston coaches or in the Athletic Department? Sounds very defensive. Talented players don't necessarily make good coaches either. From all I have read on here the past two days, you are basically saying there are no talented basketball players on the team at all. With reference to Clark and Snow, actually they are my cousins. Ever have BBQ across the street from the football field before the game?

You are finally getting the picture no talent on the team.

  6. I can't remember a time when the Kingston men's basketball team went winless during their season. I asked my father, who was born in 1929 in Kingston, and he can't remember a time like this either. I do not believe the main reason is lack of talent. Everything rises or falls on leadership, so that means the coaches must take the responsibility and not blame lack of talent. Maybe, it is time to break the Kingston clique and get new athletic staff.

Sounds like to me you being from Kingston should understand the Kingston clique, if im not mistaken you can look at every school in the county and see that they have graduates coaching. In small schools like Kingston, Midway, Harriman, and Rockwood it is hard to find coaches that care as much about schools than their graduates do. There is no question that the talent level at Roane Co. High School in all sports has dropped in the last few years. I have seen a lot of basketball games Coach Plemons coaches as hard as any coach around here, the problem with Kingston is no depth, no point guard, no shooters, and no post, basically no basketball players, just a bunch of kids that work hard. If you notice they are in a lot of games in the first half, but peter off in the second half due to foul trouble and lack of depth off the bench. for all the people who want to point their fingers at the coaching staff there is an easy solution for you, first you go to college, get you a teaching degree, and then get a coaching job just to see how easy it is. These coaches do it because they care about the school, they care about the kids, and they want the players to succeed. It sure isn't about the money because if you divide the money that coaches make by the amount of time they put in you will see that they are making almost minimum wage.

  7. Plemons was Class of '95 btw.

BTW you don't know what you are talking about he graduated in 1994 don't ever question me if you don't know what you are talking about, did you graduate with him or even go to school with him.

  8. when did he play at RCHS? i was thinking around 94-95. is that right bone? Harriman was the team to beat in the county then, won basketball state and runner-up football. i dont remember plemons being a standout. he may have been, but i dont recall.

Coach Plemons graduated in 94 so he didn't even play against the Harriman team that won the state in Basketball or the Football team that was runner up. I do believe that it is hard to say that Harriman was the team to beat in the County they had one pretty good year in sports and you say that makes them the team to beat. I will give them that year in basketball but Football come on, Kingston hasn't lost to Harriman since 1992. As far as this topic goes you can't blame Coach Plemons for what is going on this season in Basketball, he works hard to put his players in the right situation to win ball games but they are lacking a few things, such as basketball players. James Sams is a great athlete but come on he is not a basketball player(he can't handle the ball and doesn't shoot very well outside 6 feet), they do not have a true point guard, absolutely no post players and no shooters, in order to win with that talent you better play some awesome defense. I just feel that Kingston sports are hurting right now and it shouldn't be blamed on the coach, if you want to put some blame look at the parents they think their kids are the best to ever play. I will promise you this much there may be one player that could make any of the teams that Coach Plemons started for in high school. Take away Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, Kobie Bryant and Shaq and then tell me how many Championships Phil Jackson has.

  9. There is no question Vic King knows football, when I was in school he was one of the best coaches in the state. He had intensity, discipline, and players wanted to play for him he was a winner and had nearly a hundred players every year. From 1988 to 1998 Kingston was just about always in the running for a state championship. But times have changed and you cant blame Vic for there are more things for kids to do, kids don't want to lose and playing in the toughest region in AAA the best you are going to do at Kingston is 3rd. As far as Vic resigning it will probably be left up to him when he gets out, he has coached for at Kingston for 21 years and you don't just get rid of someone like him because of a few bad years because I guarantee that if he had the talent he had in the late 80's and early 90's he would still be competing for championships. As for blaming him for the Catholic and AE losses you can't hardly do that, does everyone forget that the starting QB got hurt during that last drive, maybe if he wouldn't have have went down Kingston would have scored Coach King can't control injuries. And anyone who knows anything about football would have been thinking the same thing he was (you have a freshman kicker, you are playing AE who has the potential to score quick so you need touchdowns) I guarantee if coach King would have known the score would have been 9-7 he would have kicked it but you never know.

  10. QUOTE(pantherdad @ May 10 2007 - 06:59 AM) 826456248Stone Memorial won a hard fought game last night winning in extra innings 1-0 over CAK. Stone advances to the championship game against the winner of Kingston vs CAK thursday night. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Stone has had two very tough battles, they have really been tested and so far their defense has held up to the challenge they are a good team, the most amazing thing is that they have scored 2 runs in the tournament and are in the championship that really says alot about their defense and pitching they have been in some rough spots in both games with runners on 2nd and 3rd one out and got out of it everytime that says alot about the teams character

  11. QUOTE(mr chs93 @ May 2 2007 - 10:52 AM) 826450014I would like it if someone who has knowledge of the history of Softball in Dist. 4AA to give some insight.

Has this district been competitive in recent years past the district level in post-season?

Is so, who has normally been the top teams out of the district?

I am asking these questions to try to get a measure on where Stone stands in AA ball. They came from a solid AAA program at CCHS that was always competitive with the Red Banks and Soddys, and just a few years ago was State runner-up AAA.

Also because STONE DOMINATED this district, by scoreboard stats: Stone Runs scored= 60 4AA opponents= 5

That is Domination!!! Who are normally AA top teams in State???

There is one team in District 4AA that everyone seems to keep forgeting about, Kingston, not only have they finished 1st or 2nd in the district for 14 out of the last 15 years, they have also been to the state tournament 2 out of the last 7 years, they are the defending district champions, so to me it would be hard to count them out and just give the district to Stone or CAK. They have a pretty good team, along with a pretty good pitcher who was last years district MVP.

  12. QUOTE(carlym @ Mar 18 2007 - 09:30 PM) 826416928notre dame and kingston are not co-champions.

the teams decided on a run differential rule and notre dame came out on top.

To tell you the truth about what really happened the tournament official met with the kingston coach and explained to him about the light situation and that there was no way they could play the if game. The tournament officals decided that since Kingston was in the Championship through the winners bracket they would get the champions trophy. The run differential was only mentioned by the Notre Dame coach Kingston was given the Champions Trophy, but their coach didnt want to sit there and argue about it all night after they had been there for 14 hours so he let the Notre Dame Coach have it, and took the runner up trophy, but they are co champions.

  13. The Roane Co. play day which was scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled if there are any teams interested in playing the cost is $175 with each team playing 4 games at either Kingston or Midway.

  14. You are also assuming. I didn't say it was wrong to make it public. If it had been a Kingston player and the OS coach it should have been made public then too. I am not saying anything bad about OS. I simply meant if the shoe were on the other foot - the Os fans would have been on here talking about it. I am not making it public- IT WAS IN PUBLIC. You can't expect something like a player trying to punch a coach to stay quiet. There is no way Coach Headden condones that type of behavior. And I do have plenty of sense -thank you- enough sense to know what happened was wrong.

First of all not everyone knows the whole story, secondly the OS pitcher was wrong for taking a swing at not only an adult but a coach, she must not really care about her team because I would say that the TSSAA would not tolerate an action like that if it was reported. Now for the Kingston girls that sat around and watched their coach get attacked by another teams player, too me that is gutless, when I played ball if anyone would have attacked a player or a coach on my team well they would have taken a beaten, there comes a time when you have to show some guts and take some pride in your team, your school, and in the city you live in.
